Chapter 1485: Chapter 510: Origin of the Black Mist (Part 2)

”What? Fiend Demon!” Menia’s delicate face changed once again, suddenly becoming extremely serious.

”Rein, are you sure the ancient wizards referred to that black mist as the Fiend Demon?”

”I’m sure, Prince Menia.” Rein nodded.

”Tell me in detail about your encounter with the Fiend Demon.” Menia pondered for a moment, then spoke in a deep voice.

Rein nodded. He knew that Menia wanted to confirm if what he encountered was indeed the Fiend Demon.

”At first, there was a kind of black worm clinging to the head of a goblin corpse. After I killed it, I found it very strange because the thing turned into a black smoke and disappeared... In the prison on the second underground floor, I encountered an ancient minotaur shrouded in black mist...”

As Rein recounted his story, Menia’s delicate face became increasingly solemn.

”From your description, it seems that it truly is a Fiend Demon...”

”It seems that the records mentioned in ancient books, stating that the sudden attack of the Fiend Demon may have led to the downfall of the Ancient Goblin Empire, might be true.” Menia nodded and said.

”Prince Menia, what is the origin of this Fiend Demon?” Rein couldn’t help but ask.

”The Fiend Demon’s history is very ancient, and it is difficult to verify. According to ancient records from long ago, the Fiend Demon is said to be an evil creature created by the Void Overlord, and each appearance causes massive upheavals in the world.”

”The Fiend Demon doesn’t have a fixed physical form, and multiple Fiend Demons will merge when they encounter a formidable opponent, forming medium or even large Fiend Demons with increased power.”

”In fact, combating the Fiend Demon is not only our task but also one of the main focuses of the Goddess Church.”

”The Goddess Church?”

”Yes, you must have noticed that Fire Witchcraft is highly effective against Fiend Demons, but in reality, the most effective means of killing is Divine Power.”

”Divine Power?”

”Yes, Rein, since you’ve already come into contact with the Fiend Demon, there’s a secret you can know. The deepest underground part of the Koen Cathedral in the Imperial City is where a section of a Fiend Demon’s body is sealed.”

”And it is precisely because of this that the task of guarding the Fiend Demon’s remnants has tied up most of the epic-level powerhouses in the Goddess Church.”

”I see.” Rein nodded, looking enlightened.

No wonder, during times of frequent activities by other cults, it was the Imperial Swordsmen and the royal family responsible for suppressing them, while the Goddess Church seemed to maintain little activity—it’s because they were guarding against the Fiend Demon’s resurgence.

”Judging from the news you conveyed, although the goblin capital was attacked at the time, it seems they also succeeded in sealing the Fiend Demon or rather suppressing it, achieving a certain balance. Otherwise, it would have already breached the ruins and wreaked havoc across the Federation.”

”But with the Federation’s exploration... it might lead to the disruption of this balance...” Menia suddenly thought of something, her beautiful eyes narrowing with a flash of sharpness.

”Adjutant, send a message to the Federation, instructing them to be extremely cautious about the Fiend Demon issue, and preferably, to first prepare defenses.” Menia turned her head and gestured to the adjutant not far away.

”At your command, Your Highness.”

....

At this moment, if you followed the angle of the Imperial Airship formations in the sky downward, you would see scattered fishing boats of various sizes dotting the azure sea below.

Fishing boats are highly common along both the Imperial and Federation coastlines.

However, on one of these fishing boats, several people were clearly busy with tasks unrelated to fishing. One person was holding a brass, pendulum-shaped monocular telescope, observing the Imperial Delegation airship formations in midair, continuously muttering numbers:

”Elevation angle 65°”

”3”

”2”

”1”

”Elevation angle 63°”

What this person was holding was actually a sextant, a navigational instrument used at sea to determine the angle between stars and the horizon and calculate latitude and longitude. He was now measuring related data of the Imperial Airship formation.

”Received, the angle difference is 2 degrees, and we are two nautical miles from the ’Bachelors’.” Another person said while rapidly calculating something with a quill in a notebook.

”Preliminary estimation, their speed is 80 knots, heading is...” A series of results were reported from this person’s mouth.

In fact, when the Zetaya airship formation took off, there were already people observing the Imperial airship formation from the shore.

Moreover, there were far more than just this one vessel observing the airship formation, and not far ahead of this vessel was another ship disguised as a fishing boat, the one previously mentioned as ’Bachelors’—a small pirate ship.

They were selected from among small pirate groups and sea opportunists who have allied themselves with the Sea God Sect.

For them, the task this time was quite simple: to observe and prepare data on the Imperial Delegation airship formation’s return route and speed as best they could, and report quickly.

Somewhere in the deep sea.

”Pope, a report has come from the front; the Imperial airship formation has set sail from Federation Zetaya at a speed of 80 knots...” A black-robed man with a strange sea beast pattern on his chest respectfully reported.

”Hmm, very well, then we will now hold the prayer ritual. The timing should coincide with their exit from Federation waters...”

Sea God Sect Pope Egil led a group of High Rank Wizards and Evil Sorcerers into the prayer hall.

A large group of black-robed monks were already busy there, and the floor was marked with complex witch array lines ready to be activated at any moment.

”Great Nether Sea Goddess, the tsunami represents Your dominion, the storm speaks of Your majesty...”

Soon enough, Sea God Sect Pope Egil began his prayer, his voice low, while the black-clad sea god devotees behind him all fell prostrate onto the prayer witch array, softly chanting.
