Chapter 1474: Chapter 506: Dispute (Part 3)

”But the problem now is, according to intelligence, Lord Rein from the Empire has also obtained relevant ancient goblin technology information. This is incredibly disadvantageous for the Federation!”

”This makes us lose a very important bargaining chip at the negotiating table with the Empire.”

”Exactly, I was worried it might leak before, and I never thought it would actually happen.” The Federation general who attended the last meeting glanced at Trena and said solemnly.

”Moreover, if the intelligence is true, perhaps our attitude towards cooperation with the Empire can change a bit.” The general said with implications.

”I also believe that if we can successfully control the floating city, those revived giant beasts will be no issue at all.” The old man with the pipe nodded in agreement.

”Vice Chairman, I have a proposal. If Lord Rein cannot clearly express his intent to join the Federation before departing, perhaps we could make him stay forever.”

The Federation general glanced at Trena and then looked at Bertrand, speaking slowly.

”I disagree!” Trena’s face flushed with anger, and she stood up immediately.

”General Randall, Lord Rein is extraordinarily gifted. Even if he does not join the Federation, his mere existence is a pillar for humanity to resist the revival of divine beasts and giant beasts. Your proposal is too callous!”

”Congresswoman Trena, I actually agree with General Randall’s opinion.”

”Although this suggestion would not sound good when put into practice, it would uphold the secret of the ruins for the Federation.”

”And as we master ancient goblin technology and the floating city, very likely, not only can we independently solve the problem of giant beast revival, but we can also destroy the Dragan Empire and incorporate it into the Federation’s territory.”

”Admittedly, a unified Federation is the most efficient way to mobilize manpower and allocate resources, capable of responding to future scenarios, unlike this two-nation cooperation model now.”

The old man with the pipe then tapped the pipe on the ashtray, speaking solemnly.

As a congressman and the person in charge of the Federation’s industrial production, he had ample reason and confidence for saying this.

”Finally, Congresswoman Trena, don’t forget, as a congresswoman of the Federation, you swore ’everything for the Federation, never to do anything harming the Federation’s interests’. Have you forgotten that oath?”

”I still disagree! Haven’t you read the intelligence about Lord Rein’s significant role in this operation? To violate the most basic principles of human conduct for profit, pardon me, I vehemently disagree!”

”This...” Faced with substantial differences of opinion, Vice Chairman Bertrand showed hesitation.

Undeniably, if the target wasn’t Lord Rein but someone else, Bertrand’s internal scale would naturally lean towards keeping secrets, for it represented the Federation’s core interests.

But now, the target was Rein.

Bertrand had personally witnessed Rein’s combat abilities and unparalleled talent; to kill such a highly potential young man not only would cost a lot but also, internally, Bertrand found it extremely regrettable.

”We are just now setting off for Zetaya, still one day away. This matter can be handled by our Military Department, and coincidentally, the Zaral rebels have been active recently; we can blame them for this matter.”

General Randall continued speaking.

”If we wait until Rein meets up with the Empire Delegation, we will have no chance to act.”

”Vice Chairman, time is not on our side.”

”Vice Chairman, I strongly oppose!” Trena’s face was icy cold as she spoke.
