Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 1481: Chapter 509: Pride and Prejudice

In the faint mist, there was the sound of dense thumping and several increasingly heavy booms.

The approaching enemy and Guiterrez had the same judgment—it was a mechanical octopus Rein and the others had encountered before, along with a prototype and several teams of mechanical land bird patrols.

Thanks to the information reported by Haleem and the preparations of the team members, Guiterrez and Elvin jointly unleashed their ultimate moves to strike down the most threatening mechanical octopus, while Garrett released an electric shock, causing most of the mechanical land birds to enter a frozen state of downtime.

In less than two minutes, the team successfully defeated the attacking enemies.

Seeing how easily they defeated the mechanical octopus, a smile curled up at the corner of Elvin’s lips, and he lifted his chin slightly, saying, ”Haleem mentioned in the report how difficult this mechanical octopus was to deal with. Looks like it was just because they weren’t strong enough.”

”Well, it’s not that they were weak, it’s just that our combination is more targeted,” Garrett nodded in agreement.

In Garrett’s view, these mechanical creations were perfectly countered by Thunder Witchcraft, which made handling them quite easy, so he agreed with Elvin’s earlier statement.

”It seems the challenge of this Floating City Ruins might not be as high as Haleem reported, and we could potentially gain a great deal this time,” Elvin said with a smile.

”Lord Elvin, I agree with your opinion, but the current issue is that if we can’t find the previous entrance, how do we descend?” Garrett pointed at the ground with a smile.

Although several researchers were subjected to the Deafness Technique, from Garrett’s gestures and eyes, they soon understood that the lords were discussing how to descend.

The few exchanged glances, each appearing deep in thought.

They wanted to perform well and earn a share in the subsequent exploration, or at the very least, have their contributions mentioned in future exploration reports.

If Dean Haleem successfully advanced to Dawn Wizard, they would have a chance to further their positions based on their performance at the Floating City Ruins.

Suddenly, one of them had a light in his eyes, as if he had thought of something. He quickly bent down and touched the ground with a hand that emitted a faint silver metallic luster, seemingly sensing something.

Soon, he looked up and said:

”Gentlemen, I think I know the reason.”

”Back then, Lord Sword Saint Terrio didn’t attempt to slash at this metal ground for a reason.”

”Oh?” Hearing this, Sword Saint Guiterrez’s expression eased a bit.

Although he had swiftly killed the mechanical octopus earlier, he was quite drained, and the failure to slice open the metal ground left him perturbed.

However, learning now that Sword Saint Terrio also hadn’t attempted to cut the metal ground made him feel much better.

”Get to the point, or the mechanical monsters might come again,” Elvin disliked this suspenseful way of speaking.

But unfortunately, Elvin forgot that these researchers had been subjected to the Deafness Technique, so the researcher continued to speak at length.

”... Besides being eternally solidified, the metal ground likely has some unique force between the metal particles, similar to stress.”

”So, back then none of the lords stepped in, but Lord Rein, a Metal Series Dawn Wizard, employed some Metal Series Witchcraft to slowly ’corrode’ the metal ground.”

This explanation was immediately agreed upon by Elvin and the others.

No wonder it couldn’t be cut open!

So that’s why.

”What’s the solution then?” Garrett couldn’t help but ask, then immediately realized the researchers had been subjected to the Deafness Technique, and gestured again.

”Oh, gentlemen, we brought a particle generator, it should be able to counteract this stress in a certain area. By then, we should be able to cut it open,” the researcher understood the gestures and promptly explained.

”Then what are we waiting for, start working,” Elvin couldn’t help but grow frustrated, having a solution yet not promptly acting felt like they were stalling for the second wave of mechanical octopuses.

Soon, several researchers took out disc-like devices from their bags and placed them at the four vertices of a square.

Immediately afterward, Guiterrez leapt high again and executed a sword move.

This time, with the entry of four black sword lights, the metal ground didn’t require another heavy punch to be struck, as the square-shaped cut surface began to slowly descend.

”Just as expected!”

”I was saying, that young Dawn Wizard named Rein couldn’t possibly be that strong! If Lord Guiterrez couldn’t cut it, how could he open it.”

”Hmph, turns out he relied on tricks,” Elvin couldn’t help but slightly lift his chin with a proud hmph.

Seeing the ground successfully cut open, the others naturally smiled widely as well.

Even the usually stern-faced Guiterrez showed a slight smile.

”Should we leave someone behind to guard?”

”This level can’t have someone left behind, my follower just tried Stealth Technique but found it still detectable,” Elvin pointed to a petite leather-armored woman beside him who was wearing a mask that only revealed her eyes.

”Gentlemen, don’t worry, we have brought quite a few of these particle generators.”

...

Several minutes later.

As the team entered the first basement level, looking at the vast space with various gears and mechanical devices operating automatically, a glimmer of greed appeared in Elvin’s eyes.
