Seizing the BOSS Template at the Start

Chapter 7: Chapter 5: Looting Corpses

Without any nonsense, seven or eight mechanical orbs arrived with the snowstorm, transforming in mid-air like an eyeball, gaining a layered appearance. Pulses of energy shot towards the eyes, ears, mouth, and nose of the two Silver-level warriors.

Fizz~

The scorching heat carried an intense penetrative power, amplifying the screams instantly, only for them to abruptly cease the next moment, leaving no sound at all.

In the snowstorm, on the two motionless corpses, a flicker of black gas passed by and then returned to normal.

The aura of this black gas was peculiar, bearing no negative effects yet evoking a strong sense of unease.

According to speculation in version 3.0, players believed this might be the constraint of the Black Night Rose rooted at the soul level, though nobody could verify this in the end.

Baiyi glanced at the panel, where a small golden glow appeared at the top of his personal panel; as he focused his attention there, lines of information began to flash.

[You killed a Level 13 dwarf with the Demon Hunting Revolver, Experience +200, due to the significant level gap, Experience reduced by 80%, Experience +40.]

[You killed a Level 11 dwarf with the Demon Hunting Revolver, Experience +35 due to the significant level gap.]

[You killed a Level 13 goblin with the Demon Hunting Revolver, Experience +40 due to the significant level gap.]

[You used the Hive to kill a Silver-level Berserker, Experience +3000, Gold Coin +50. Extra Experience Points +1000.]

[You used the Hive to kill a Silver-level Shadow Assassin. Experience +3000, Gold Coin +50. Extra Experience Points +1000.]

[You killed two Silver-level members of the Black Night Rose, permanently decrements favorability with the Black Night Rose organization by 10.]

Seeing the series of panel prompts, Baiyi was quite satisfied. Even killing monsters with the boss template gives experience, so there would be no bottlenecks.

No wonder that Old Wolf could reach the Golden Tier within a year; beasts find killing simpler, and if Old Wolf knew that killing would bring revenge, it would have led to numerous massacres within that year.

As for the Black Night Rose organization....

Baiyi had not probed into their information at all, nor mentioned anything about them, so it should not be too big of an issue.

Moreover, with the Golden being unable to act lightly now, Baiyi, having reached the Silver, had nothing to fear in Dongwu City.

If this organization dared to trouble him, Baiyi wouldn’t hesitate to make it pay a price it could not bear.

The Barrett in Baiyi’s hand, emitting high temperatures, disassembled into three small circular instruments and flew back into the hem of his trench coat with the surrounding dozen or so instruments.

Baiyi crouched and picked up the dagger from the hands of the Shadow Assassin.

[You acquired Silver-level equipment [Highly Poisonous Blade].]

This is also a feature of this game. After farming monsters, the bodies don’t disappear, and besides experience and Gold Coins, nothing else drops.

What makes it better than other games is that as long as you don’t destroy the boss items, all of their belongings are your spoils.

This is more reasonable and is well-loved by players.

This mechanism yields higher rewards than treasure chest drops because, in previous games, bosses wielded dazzling weapons that couldn’t be picked up and only belonged to NPCs.

However, here, no matter how splendid the equipment is, as long as you can kill the possessor, it will belong to you.

After searching the Shadow Assassin for a while, Baiyi also found some potions and Gold Coins, even discovering a Dawn Badge worth a thousand Contribution Points, equivalent to a thousand Gold Coins.

Most importantly, Dawn Badges have no passwords, allowing him to transfer the money without cost.

This might be a way for the upper levels to increase vigilance and competition among transcendents; those who can’t guard their badges are no different from waste, and living is just a resource drain.

Of course, open robbery would violate the law, and getting caught or accused would turn one into a laborer.

Weak ones would hide their badges well, thus the Federation isn’t as chaotic as imagined.

Baiyi estimated the value of the items on the Shadow Assassin to be about three thousand Gold Coins, and with the badge’s returns, it’s like his monthly income at Dongwu City’s potion shop.

Indeed, robbing and setting fires brings a golden belt.

With a pleasant expression, Baiyi turned toward the Berserker to continue looting.

[You acquired Silver-level equipment [Shield Axe of the Mountain].]

[You acquired special quest item [Black Night Invitation].]

Baiyi paused, looking at the Black Night Invitation with a black rose drawn on it in his hand, then turned to glance at the contract-effect envelope on the ground, both dealing with newcomer contracts and gatherings for old members.

Such gatherings were unique, once a pro player sneaked in, and the cult-like scene remained vivid in Baiyi’s memory.

However, every Black Night Invitation had a Golden Lord overseeing it; the pro player was quickly caught and killed, and until the end, no one knew what these gatherings truly represented.

After quickly scavenging the warrior’s items, Baiyi breathed a sigh of relief.

He drew the Demon Hunting Revolver from his pocket, loaded it, and fired a shot at the contract without hesitation.

The envelope instantly shattered; Baiyi had no interest in touching such a deathly invitation. It truly could kill.

Estimating the total gain from the two badges, this time’s haul was approximately 7000 Gold Coins—a massive figure, enough to feed an entire city for a year.

The world’s pricing was extremely polarized; with powerful transcendents, the seeds researched yielded absurd amounts annually.

As long as civilians were willing to labor, they wouldn’t starve, but due to various expropriations, they could only maintain an undying state.

Thus, civilians would regard becoming a transcendent as their lifelong goal.

This is why these two people could easily lure six Bronze-tier transcendents as bait, as the base for low-tier transcendents is large, while high-tier ones are scarce.

The resources required by transcendents were huge; if a Federation had five million Bronze Low Tier, meaning Level 11 to Level 17, then those reaching Bronze Middle Tier would drop sharply to one million, Upper Tier to fifty thousand, and even fewer to Silver.

Talent, resources, capital, family, and various restrictions led to only two Legendaries in the entire Federation.

Standing up, after a brief moment, a thin layer of snow covered the bodies.

Thinking it over, Baiyi took out a potion from his arms and opened it.

A rich fragrance drifted with the snowstorm into the distance.

He poured the potion over the warrior and assassin.

Baiyi turned and headed towards Dongwu City.

Beasts hunting in winter liked this fragrance, generally used for traps, but it could also erase traces of bodies.

Baiyi liked adding some poison to them, suppressing his usual poison, which would only activate after a day.

Thus, when beasts came and then left, nothing would remain.

Creak... creak...

The sound of boots on snow gradually receded, quickly burying the bodies behind him under the snowstorm.

Creak... creak...

Another sound of snow crunching; a large black nose sniffed the snow, then eagerly opened its toothy maw.
