Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Chapter 84: Chapter 82: Your Audacity Has Grown, Daring to Drive Me Away (Part 3)

He tried calling Nora Ainsworth but couldn’t get through, so he left a message.

But when he woke up the next morning, the entertainment news had once again caused a massive uproar.

A video clip left netizens stunned. It showed Leon Lynch and Sharon Ainsworth entering a suite in the VIP section together. After a while, Leon Lynch emerged, but Sharon Ainsworth didn’t leave until the next morning.

Although this couldn’t prove with one hundred percent certainty that the two had slept together, given Leon Lynch’s playboy reputation, the implications were impossible to ignore.

So, reporters immediately contacted Sharon Ainsworth. She was very cooperative during the interview and claimed that Leon Lynch had forced himself on her!

Reporters rushed to give the story a prominent spot in their publications that very day. Leon Lynch unwillingly shot to infamy, and even the police got involved.

The incident instantly became the talk of the entire city.

While an ordinary incident might have made headlines, it wouldn’t have caused such a sensation.

Because Sharon Ainsworth was the sister of Leon Lynch’s former fiancée!

He didn’t marry the younger sister, but he slept with the older one!

Even if they weren’t blood sisters, and even if that connection was now severed, it had once existed.

As a result, public opinion instantly swayed in favor of Sharon Ainsworth, with ninety percent of online commenters harshly condemning Leon Lynch.

They condemned his unrepentant playboy ways, and the fact that Quentin Grant had previously broken off his engagement with Sharon Ainsworth now only served to make her seem more pitiable.

Nearly every entertainment media outlet was covering the story.

The police also came to his door to get the details. Leon Lynch cooperated and gave a statement, his expression cold and detached the entire time, showing no signs of panic or distress.

Mrs. Lynch was practically sick with worry. She listened to Leon Lynch, but then she thought about her son’s past behavior. Unsure of what to believe, she took it upon herself to contact Sharon Ainsworth.

She hoped Sharon would change her story, promising to give her anything she wanted.

But Sharon Ainsworth laid down an ultimatum: Leon Lynch had to marry her. Only then would there be any room to de-escalate the situation.

Leon Lynch, however, left Mrs. Lynch with a sharp directive. ”Tell her if she thinks she can use this to make me marry her, she can forget it. I don’t care about my reputation—it’s already bad. She’s the one who’d better think long and hard about this!”

But Sharon Ainsworth was clearly ready to go down with the ship, stubbornly sticking to her story about what Leon Lynch had done to her.

In just a single morning, the situation had already spun completely out of control.

Scores of reporters swarmed the gates of the Ainsworth and Lynch family homes, refusing to leave and creating a major disturbance.

Finally, ignoring Mrs. Lynch’s protests, Leon Lynch decided to hold his own press conference at two o’clock that afternoon.

This would be the first time he had ever publicly addressed the rumors and slander against him.

When Nora Ainsworth heard the news from her hospital bed, she couldn’t help but wonder, ’Has the world been turned upside down?’

’Even though I don’t really know Leon Lynch well, to be fair,’ she thought, ’would a man like him really need to force a woman into bed?’

’Besides, knowing Sharon Ainsworth, there has to be more to this story.’

She turned on her phone to find a string of messages from Leon Lynch. He had asked why her phone was off and left a detailed explanation of the entire incident for her.

After listening to them, Nora Ainsworth was completely certain. This was a scheme cooked up by Sharon Ainsworth.

It was based on one particular thing Leon Lynch had said in his message: ”I’m hopelessly in love with one woman. Loving her has made me shut out all other women; my heart is open only to her. Nora, I, Leon Lynch, have never been interested in Sharon Ainsworth. I went into that room, but I wasn’t in there for long before I came out. Now that things have blown up like this, I have to clarify it myself, if only so the woman I love will believe that I’m not that kind of man.”

It was a very long message.

Nora Ainsworth listened with rapt attention.

She had a feeling in her heart that she was the woman he was talking about.

’If I can’t even sense that, then I’m a complete fool.’

’No man would explain so much to a woman he didn’t care about for no reason, and no man would go around all day claiming he wanted to marry her.’

’She, too, had once considered impulsively marrying him. At the very least, she would have led a stable and peaceful life, wouldn’t she?’

’But with everything so tangled up, they had ultimately missed their chance.’

When she went online, Nora Ainsworth discovered that the situation had blown up even more than she had imagined.

Many people online had no idea what had actually happened but were unanimously calling for a crusade against Leon Lynch.

She racked her brain and came up with a plan. It wasn’t exactly a brilliant idea—one might even call it a dirty trick—but the more she considered it, the more feasible it seemed. It just required her to take matters into her own hands.

Hardly anyone ever came to visit her, and Quentin Grant certainly wasn’t going to show up.

Steeling her resolve, Nora Ainsworth gritted her teeth against the pain and got dressed.

She could stand, but the pain in her foot was nearly unbearable.

She made her way to the venue where Leon Lynch was holding his press conference.

Wearing a mask, she moved at an extremely slow pace.

’Sharon Ainsworth will definitely be here,’ she thought. ’It was already announced that Leon Lynch would confront her in person at the press conference.’

’If Sharon doesn’t show up, it’ll be a clear sign that she has a guilty conscience and is too scared to face him.’

’And if she does show up, then this will definitely get resolved one way or another.’

She wasn’t sure why, but she felt an inexplicable urge to help Leon Lynch, just this once.

When she arrived at the hotel venue, it was already swarming with reporters.

Nora Ainsworth quietly made her way to the waiting room.

She peeked inside. No one was there yet.

She pulled out her phone to check the time. It was already 1:50.

She decided to start with her first move: the oldest trick in the book, a secret recording.

When Sharon Ainsworth arrived a few minutes later, Nora removed her mask. Sharon spotted her instantly.

”Well, well. Haven’t seen you in a few days. Gone and crippled yourself, have you?”

Nora Ainsworth started the recorder on her phone and chuckled softly. ”Second Sister, I thought Quentin Grant was the one you loved. Why are you so desperate to marry Leon Lynch now?”

Seeing they weren’t in a private place, Sharon Ainsworth said, ”Let’s talk inside.”

The two of them went in. They were completely alone.

Sharon Ainsworth got straight to the point. ”Are you just jealous that I’m about to marry Leon Lynch?”

”I’m not as despicable as you. Do you think you’ll be happy marrying a man who doesn’t love you? After pulling a stunt like this, do you think Leon Lynch will treat you well? What’s the point of using all these tricks just to marry him?”

Sharon Ainsworth answered coolly, ”And why should I tell you?”

”I know even if you don’t tell me. But I can tell you with absolute certainty that he will not marry you. Even if you completely ruin his reputation, he will never marry you. You underestimate Leon. Do you even know him? What makes you think staging this whole drama and using public opinion to pressure him will make him marry you?” Nora Ainsworth’s eyes were fixed on her.

”Even if he’s not willing, the Lynch Family will be desperate for me to marry in and quiet this storm. Nora Ainsworth, you’re a real dog in the manger. What, just because you didn’t want to marry him, you won’t let me?” Sharon Ainsworth shot back. ”Look at the situation. Do you really think he has a way out? I’m the one calling the shots now. The Lynch Family will pressure him! You just wait and see!”
