Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Chapter 63: Chapter 62: Hand Her Over to Him (Part 1)

Quentin Grant’s next words gave her a sudden glimmer of hope.

”I’ve had a change of heart. How about this: if you successfully pass the trial and stay quietly by my side for three years, I’ll let you go.”

’He figured he couldn’t possibly stay interested in her forever. Three years should be enough.’

”Really? You promise?” Nora Ainsworth’s eyes suddenly lit up.

He scoffed, ”Do you think I’m the type of person who goes back on his word? Look how happy you are. Be careful, I might just change my mind. Don’t worry, I’ll have a written agreement drafted for you when we get back. Is that good enough?”

Nora Ainsworth nodded emphatically, her eyes sparkling. ”Mhm.”

”So, am I still not a decent human being?”

Although Nora Ainsworth didn’t want to admit it, she reluctantly nodded.

’Quentin Grant truly couldn’t understand what kind of chemical concoction was in this woman’s head. So many women would kill to stay by his side, yet she was like a mouse that had seen a cat, desperate to escape!’

Though he didn’t understand, his pride wouldn’t allow him to ask for a clear explanation.

Sean Grant printed out a document for her. The terms were simple and clear: if she could train at Herman Hawthorne’s facility until she was unbeatable, with decent combat skills, and earn Herman Hawthorne’s approval, then she could leave after staying by his side for three years. Otherwise, the entire agreement was void.

It was stamped with Quentin Grant’s personal seal, effective immediately.

”What if you don’t need me anymore before the three years are up?”

He gave her a harmless-looking smile. ”Then you can just disappear from my sight.”

Although Nora Ainsworth knew he was speaking the truth, she still felt extremely uncomfortable deep down.

「The next day.」

Quentin Grant had someone handle Nora Ainsworth’s school withdrawal procedures. She then moved into Quentin Grant’s residence, luggage in tow.

She had barely left when Leon Lynch came looking for her. After learning she had suddenly withdrawn from school, he frantically called her phone, but her battery was dead, so she couldn’t answer.

Leon Lynch rushed to the airport and spent a long time searching everywhere. When he found out there was no record of Nora Ainsworth boarding a flight, his heart relaxed for the time being.

It wasn’t until evening that Nora Ainsworth noticed the many missed call notifications, all from the same number.

She immediately called back.

”Nora Ainsworth, where are you?!” Leon Lynch’s voice was filled with anxiety.

”Where else would I be? I’m at home.”

”Where is your home?”

Faced with his aggressive questioning, Nora Ainsworth had no choice but to say, ”Leon, I just want to have a few quiet years. If we have the chance in the future, we’ll meet again. I have to go, so I’m hanging up now.”

Leon Lynch gripped his phone, a worried look on his face.

He tried calling again, but the notification said her phone was turned off.

”Leon Lynch?” A sudden question from behind her made the phone in Nora Ainsworth’s hand clatter to the floor.

She quickly picked it up, her voice calm. ”It was him who called. It’s nothing.”

Quentin Grant lifted his gaze slightly. ”What are you so flustered about? I didn’t say anything.”

Nora Ainsworth retorted stubbornly, ”Who’s flustered? I’m not!”

After speaking, she placed her phone on the table and walked toward the kitchen. ”What do you want to eat?”

”No need. We’re going out for hot pot tonight.”

The two of them drove to a famous hot pot restaurant and called Ethan Ellsworth and Herman Hawthorne. The group arrived quickly.

Ethan Ellsworth brought Chloe Marshall with him wherever he went. The reason was simple: she was a convenient assistant who didn’t talk back.

The moment she walked in, Chloe Marshall spotted Nora Ainsworth. She rushed over. ”Nora, did you change your number? I couldn’t get through to your old one no matter how many times I tried. I saw the news about what happened yesterday. You have to hang in there.”

Nora Ainsworth forced a smile. ”Chloe, I’ll hang in there.”

The group sat down. Herman Hawthorne looked directly at Nora Ainsworth. ”Quentin said you want to join the devil’s training camp. Is that true?”

Nora Ainsworth hadn’t heard Quentin Grant mention the name, but she figured it would involve intense hardship. Now, hearing the word ”devil’s” from Herman Hawthorne’s lips, a sudden chill ran down her spine.

She instinctively glanced at Quentin Grant, only to see that his expression was normal and he wasn’t looking at her.

Remembering the agreement, Nora Ainsworth nodded. ”Yes.”

Herman Hawthorne’s devilishly handsome face held a profound, unreadable expression. ”Are you aware that my training camp isn’t for ordinary people? Since you’re Quentin’s woman, I’ll give you the opportunity. But whether you can make it to the end is up to you. If you have what it takes to persevere, you’ll end up more skilled than a top-level taekwondo master—you’ll have the unique abilities of a special agent. If you can’t last, then it’s goodbye.”

Without a second thought, Nora Ainsworth said, ”I think I can make it to the end.”
