Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: The Miserable Woman

Back home, the family was delighted with the pile of discounted goods Yuan Chun bought, placing the thermos in the living room for everyone to use.

A towel was also taken out and hung on the towel rack for everyone to share.

The remaining two towels and two tea mugs were put away by Grandma Feng, ”These towels and tea mugs are for Yuan Chun, Yuan Zhen, and Guo’an to use when they go to the county to study.”

At this time, the village was poor, unable to get industrial products, and couldn’t afford tea mugs and towels, so they drank with bamboo and wooden cups.

They didn’t use towels to wash their faces either, just splashed some water with their hands and wiped with their sleeves.

Having something to use now was already a good thing.

Folks didn’t bother with so many formalities.

In the evening, after dinner, Grandma Feng held a family meeting.

”Yuan Chun, our family was poor before, and we had no money to arrange a wife for your second brother. I originally planned to set up a good marriage for you, ask for more bride price, then use twenty dollars to arrange a wife for your second brother, and the rest for your dowry when you marry. But now, our family isn’t short of money, so let’s hold off on your and Guo’an’s marriage. I’m planning to let you all study, get a junior high or high school diploma. With a diploma in hand, you can find work in the county or apply to be a school teacher, which is better than doing hard labor.”

”Guoping, you should also get a junior high diploma.”

Feng Guoping: ”...”

His face flushed, ”Grandma, I’m almost a father, sitting with little kids for exams is ludicrous, I won’t go.”

”Let them laugh if they want, you don’t need to mind them. Once you get that junior high diploma, they’ll only be envious.” Grandma Feng said.

Feng Dasheng also encouraged his eldest son, ”Guoping, with a junior high diploma, when the school next recruits primary school teachers, you can take the entrance exam, and you won’t need to just watch others become teachers while you work in the fields.”

”Grandma, Dad, I’ll take the exam.”

Recalling his previous envy of those teachers, Feng Guoping resolved, ”Grandma, Dad, Mom, I will definitely get a junior high diploma and become a good teacher, a role model for my children.”

”Good, that’s my eldest grandson, a member of the Feng family with spirit.”

Grandma Feng slapped the table, clearly pleased, ”Tomorrow, I’ll take you to the town school to ask your Aunt Ding if you can go directly to school.”

Aunt Ding, as referred to by Grandma Feng, was a niece from her family who taught at the town’s middle school, and her husband was also a schoolteacher.

The Feng family’s luck was excellent; Aunt Ding’s husband was the vice-principal of the town middle school, responsible for such matters.

He said, ”Aunt, the school accepts a few transfer students every year, but they all have to pass an exam set by the teachers. If every subject’s score is above sixty, the school will admit them. If the grades are too poor, I can’t bend the rules for public matters and let them join.”

Grandma Feng nodded approvingly, ”Changsheng, I won’t make things difficult for you, just let them take the exam. Whether they pass or not, Aunt thanks you for giving them this chance.”

Liu Changsheng smiled politely, ”The school welcomes hardworking students; I extend the same courtesy to outsiders, let alone family.”

Thus, Yuan Chun and the others passed their exams with excellent scores, becoming students in the third grade of town middle school.
