Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

A few hours passed quickly.

Thousand Faces had already left the captain’s cabin.

Chen Ming was still idly lying on the sofa with his eyes closed, resting.

After agreeing to help the president a few days ago, he had already started to get distracted by the tasks for the president, as a Star System suspected to be infected with a dimensional anomaly needed his attention.

Though he had the assistance of the Dusk Core, and didn’t need to personally oversee every location, assigning tasks to the Dusk Core and coordinating with the Fifth Legion still required his attention, time, and energy.

Recently, all An Wuping had to do was scurry around like a mouse with Zuo Jing and continually change spaceships, not encountering much trouble otherwise.

In addition, he had openly planned a trip to Cai Mo City that would take another week.

Now, following Zuo Jing running around, it would only take longer and be less efficient.

So Chen Ming planned to slightly reduce the attention focused on An Wuping, sparing some mental effort to do other things.

For example, studying the catalytic core sent over to the Fourteenth Legion’s simulation recently.

Chen Ming found this intriguing.

After usage, it could produce some unique compounds that current technology might not be able to manufacture.

Depending on the external conditions during the experiment, the compounds produced by the catalytic core varied in bizarre properties.

From these diverse compounds, Chen Ming could see the potential of this thing, so he focused on studying the properties of these things.

However, Chen Ming’s plans did not come to fruition.

Because An Wuping’s situation did not stay calm for long; Thousand Faces suddenly returned to the captain’s cabin and said to Chen Ming, ”Can you lend a hand?”

Chen Ming opened his eyes, ”What for?”

Thousand Faces pulled out a few Glass Beads emitting spiritual energy fluctuations from his pocket and said, ”Look at these.”

”I’ve seen them, and then?”

”You should be able to tell, right? My spiritual energy can replicate others’ abilities.”

”These Glass Beads are the materialization of the replicated spiritual energy. You just need to inject a small amount of spiritual energy fluctuation and then crush them, allowing you to control the replicated spiritual energy as your own using spiritual power.”

”That Black Mist from before, it was an ability I replicated from someone else.”

Chen Ming’s expression remained unchanged as he asked back, ”And so?”

”So, I want to exchange others’ spiritual energy for some of yours.”

Honestly, Chen Ming was a bit tempted because the spiritual energy fluctuation effects of these Glass Beads seemed intriguing one by one, but he still refused, ”Not interested.”

”These Glass Beads are derivatives of your spiritual energy, you have absolute control over these things. It shouldn’t be difficult to reclaim them.”

”I don’t want to exchange for something without any guarantee, especially when the effects might not even be good.”

Thousand Faces shrugged and said, ”Even if I say the ones I’ve given out won’t be influenced as long as they’re outside my spiritual energy fluctuation range, you probably wouldn’t believe it.”

He found Chen Ming’s response normal; no psychic would want their spiritual energy to be used by others, as it’s the foundation of their being. If studied thoroughly and specifically targeted, it could easily lead to trouble.

This replication of spiritual energy always needed time for people to get used to it.

At least, he saw a hint of temptation on An Wuping’s face earlier; over time, An Wuping would understand the value of his spiritual energy.

Besides, it’s not a must to exchange spiritual energy with An Wuping.

As long as he’s around when An Wuping uses his spiritual energy, the spiritual energy fluctuations that dissipate can be converted into Heart-Gathering Spirit Pearls, so there’s no rush.

However, he didn’t return to the captain’s cabin simply to acquire An Wuping’s spiritual energy; he also wanted to figure out what exactly happened at the space station and laboratory that An Wuping visited.

They previously sent out five psychics, and the only one alive who returned was vague when speaking, and after discovering the high-level’s suspicion towards him, vanished without a trace, still undiscovered till now.

”How about this?”

Thousand Faces placed a handful of Glass Beads on the tea table in front of Chen Ming and said, ”I use these things to buy information from you.”

”I want to know what you did there and what exactly happened.”

”Not to hold you accountable, just purely out of curiosity.”

”Look, those three cruisers outside were sunk by you, and a space station was also blown up because of you, yet we haven’t pursued it, right?”

Chen Ming glanced ahead and said, ”The space station was blown up by yourselves, and isn’t your intelligence network quite extensive? The government can intervene, weren’t you aware of what happened on the Space Station? Didn’t you know what appeared in the laboratory?”

”There’s always someone covering things up, so we need some independent verification.”

Thousand Faces picked up a Glass Bead, flicking it on the tea table a few times, and said, ”One piece of intel for one Heart-Gathering Spirit Pearl.”

Seeing An Wuping seem uninterested, he quickly added, ”And an answer to a simple question you propose.”

At this, Chen Ming finally perked up a bit, asking, ”How can you guarantee what you say is true?”

”No way to guarantee it, even if I did, you wouldn’t believe it, hence a simple question.”

”Right now, you are our partner, and I hope you’ll continue to stay with us in the future.”
