Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

”He seems to have joined the Zuo Jing.”

Chen Ming pretended to pause for a second: ”Huh? Didn’t they just say two days ago that he resolved the dimension infection and massacred the Zuo Jing Space Station? How did he end up joining Zuo Jing?”

”The situation is a bit complicated.”

The chairman explained, ”Not many people know the specifics, and I’ve only heard some scattered information from the Beinu Star Realm Government.”

”They said there was a space station there that was massacred, it was a space station full of ordinary people.”

”The main culprit, judging by the traces left on the scene, was An Wuping.”

”However, they also mentioned traces left by other Psychics; they are investigating on their own and are not allowing any outsiders to intervene for now.”

”Then, considering my connections, they gave me an explanation.”

”They say An Wuping possibly had a berserk condition which led him to carry out an indiscriminate massacre.”

”Then a Zuo Jing operative who had been tailing An Wuping took him away after he became a criminal.”

”To be honest, I find it hard to believe, but they showed me a photo, a picture of An Wuping talking to a member of the Zuo Jing.”

The chairman quickly sent a photo over.

It was the exact scene of Chen Ming talking with Thousand Faces amidst the wreckage of the Space Station.

The photo cleverly avoided the angle of two remaining cruisers in the star system wreckage, perfectly capturing An Wuping’s face and a bit of the Black Mist around Thousand Faces, indirectly proving Thousand Faces’ identity.

As for An Wuping’s identity, it was confirmed when An Wuping could still act like nothing was wrong in vacuum without turning into an insect.

This photo was likely taken by Thousand Faces in Black Mist state using a hidden camera; otherwise, if it were from the Space Station debris, Chen Ming would still have control over them and would have known about the photo.

However, it doesn’t have much impact since Chen Ming has more critical evidence in hand.

But Chen Ming still had a question: ”Did the Beinu Star Realm Government explain how the space station ended up like this? It’s already a ruin, right?”

”They said they didn’t know, it was like this when they arrived.”

”They also mentioned that An Wuping had exhibited large-scale destructive capabilities last time, so using them on the space station was normal.”

”The situation is indeed like that, nothing to argue with.”

After sending the photo, the chairman’s tone carried a bit of regret: ”So after all, it’s an indiscriminate massacre, a severe crime even for a Psychic.”

”It’s not impossible that An Wuping, fearing the consequences of his crimes, followed Zuo Jing.”

”But for us, it’s not good news.”

Chen Ming immediately agreed, ”A potential ally turning into an enemy, certainly not good news.”

”But since it was a berserk condition? Then the massacre at the Zuo Jing Space Station last time wasn’t just because of a berserk condition, right?”

”That’s the implication the Beinu Government hinted at, but I don’t buy it.”

”The Audan Star Realm has been more proactive in working with me; their evidence clearly shows An Wuping is only in the early stages of the berserk condition, still fully capable of self-control, and deliberately avoided civilian casualties at the Zuo Jing Space Station. It’s impossible for his personality to change dramatically in less than a week.”

”Something must have happened during this period.”

”Unfortunately, I haven’t interacted with him personally, so my opinion on An Wuping isn’t as influential as the Audan and Beinu governments.”

”I’ve seen some of the other photos from the scene, and the traces preserved from the destruction of the space station are similar to the last time, more or less confirming that An Wuping indeed carried out the massacre.”

”Without more specific evidence, we’ll have to go with the Beinu Star Realm’s account for now.”

Chen Ming summarized and asked, ”So the idea is to be cautious of this An Wuping, right?”

”Yes, he’s likely to act with Zuo Jing next, and Zuo Jing’s latest move is toward Cai Mo.”

”However, An Wuping probably can’t head directly to Cai Mo since a legion is currently handling a covert blockade in the Cai Mo Star Realm.”

”Any outsiders must be vetted before entry, and warp jumps at cruiser level are completely banned now.”

”Which legion is in charge?”

”The Fifth Legion.”

”The Fifth? Isn’t it usually handled by the local troops and battle zone?”

The chairman slightly shook his head from where Chen Ming couldn’t see and said, ”To avoid suspicion, the local troops are now confined to their own bases; going out means getting blocked by people.”

”So star system blockades have to be handled by a legion with no direct interests with the local government closest to the situation.”

”Oh,”

Chen Ming responded and asked, ”What has the Fifth Legion been doing before? I don’t think I’ve heard much about them.”

”It’s normal not to have heard; the Fifth Legion mainly doesn’t deal with the Fourteenth Legion’s main force but focuses elsewhere.”

”The Mechanical Race isn’t just blocking the Empire in one direction, so the Fifth Legion handles other Mechanical Race fronts, maintaining a standoff with them.”

”And the Fifth Legion cooperates with another, the Seventh Legion, taking turns on duty, unlike the Fourteenth Legion, which handles the Dusk main force alone.”

”It was supposed to be the Seventh Legion’s turn to return lately, with the Fifth Legion going up for rotation, but given the situation, there’s no time for an interim change now.”
