Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Liang Fei immediately asked, ”How is it?”

Li Weiqi pointed to the screen in front of him, speaking in a slightly muffled voice through his mask, ”Look at this data. This detects the physical traces of dimensional infection, confirming that there has been a dimensional infection on the Space Station, though the source of the infection has been wiped out.”

”I just saw evidence of an internal explosion by a major weapon on the Space Station; the traces are very close to the core area of the Space Station.”

”The Space Station belongs to the Zuo Jing, right? So it must be them who opened fire. Could they be handling the dimensional infection themselves?”

Liang Fei shook his head, ”Who knows? Anyway, I’ll first send two small ships over, shut down their stealth and send a communication to see if there’s any response. The other ships should be ready, and if there’s a problem, we’ll just bomb the Space Station.”

Li Weiqi said nothing, implicitly agreeing with Liang Fei’s stance.

A few minutes later.

Two ships that approached the Space Station first sent a communication request.

This communication request was immediately responded to automatically.

However, the response was not from someone on the Space Station, but from a program designed by Chen Ming. Whenever there’s an external communication request to connect or other means to access the Space Station database, this program automatically triggers.

This program would send out a backdoor program written by Chen Ming.

The program Chen Ming wrote could be used to access the encrypted areas of the Space Station.

The government’s two Psychics were apparently not just familiar with matters related to Spiritual Energy. Having received the program sample, Liang Fei directly broke the completely unencrypted program.

And he shared his opinion, ”This is very rigid military hacking technology, very much in line with the crude habits of the military.”

”Was it done by someone from the military?”

”Hard to say.”

After confirming the program was fine, Liang Fei directly used the communication to access the Space Station’s network.

He deployed his own new version of the backdoor program to hack into the Space Station’s most important database right away.

Liang Fei suddenly said, ”The database has been tampered with; someone used an internal loop to lock down the database’s writing function. It can only read, which is a means of data protection.”

”Can it be cracked?”

”Yes, it just needs time, but there’s no need for that. Reading data doesn’t require bypassing this limitation, and since we’re the first to arrive, the information will have to be shared eventually, so deleting data to keep it to ourselves is meaningless now.”

”True.”

Liang Fei quickly read some data from the database.

After glancing through it, the two in the captain’s room were silent, shocked by the ghastly experimental records and the data of those who died miserably.

Even though they’ve encountered similar situations before, the sheer scale of Zuo Jing’s human experiments was startling at first glance.

However, they were both professionals, and after the initial emotional turmoil, they didn’t forget their main task.

Li Weiqi suddenly received a call.

After saying a few words and hanging up, he said to Liang Fei, ”The two vessels that were sent out are still sending communications, but there’s no response from the Space Station, something must have happened. Can the surveillance on the Space Station still be used?”

”Yes.”

After the database breach, the main control system and the surveillance system became the secondary and tertiary systems to seize control over.

The main control system was already under Liang Fei’s control, and as he spoke, the surveillance system also came under his control.

Shattered corpses immediately filled the screens before the two men.

Switching between the surveillance feeds continuously, nearly all areas were occupied by blood and fragments.

”Interesting, seems like everyone on the Space Station is dead, only in a few separated structures outside the Space Station are there survivors.”

Li Weiqi felt something was off, asking, ”No evidence left, wasn’t this slaughter?”

”No.”

Liang Fei spoke as he pulled out a document he found prominently placed in the database.

This was a document proving the identity of Zuo Jing members.

It recorded the time of their joining, their responsibilities, and their connections with Zuo Jing.

With just a glance, he could see many Zuo Jing-affiliated personnel’s bodies piled up in the Space Station’s main structure.

If whoever committed the slaughter had been just indiscriminate, this document wouldn’t have been left in the database.

”Moreover, it seems not everyone on the Space Station is dead.”

In a corner of a surveillance feed, four living individuals, their hands and feet bound by twisted metal shackles, trembling in a corner barely untouched by blood.

”Our mission here has three objectives: the most important is to confirm whether there is indeed dimensional infection and to find ways to control it under such circumstances.”

”Secondly, to verify whether the Space Station has any connection with Zuo Jing. If the Space Station is indeed occupied by Zuo Jing, then prepare for subsequent control of the Space Station.”

”Thirdly, to confirm the identity of the Psychic who previously reported the Space Station’s issues to us.”

Liang Fei spoke, extending three fingers, then retracting one, saying, ”Dimensional infection does exist, and it has been controlled.”

”The Space Station is confirmed to be connected with Zuo Jing. Almost all Zuo Jing members are dead, only a few in the structures separated from the Space Station are alive, and they seem to be controlled by what appear to be civilians.”
