Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 147: Chapter 137: Enhancing the Soundbox and the Magical Rain

”How does this Sound Box weapon compare to the Spray Melon and the Iron Melon? Which one’s stronger?” Qin Haonan asked curiously.

Ren Yuanyang pondered for a moment, then replied, ”The Iron Melon is too big and inconvenient. Compared to the Spray Melon, at the same reinforcement level, the Sound Box is more powerful!”

Hearing this, Qin Haonan’s eyes lit up. He had already witnessed the power of the Spray Melon, and this Sound Box was even stronger!

”Great! Boss, hurry up and make a couple so I can try them out!” Qin Haonan rubbed his hands together, eager to give them a go.

Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes. ”I’m an Evolver, not a Magician! You think I can just blow on these seeds and they’ll turn into fruit? We have to plant them first. It’s not that fast. Just wait!”

”Hehe, Boss, aren’t you always fast?” Qin Haonan replied with a grin.

”Fast, my foot!” Ren Yuanyang retorted with a laugh. ”Go clear out some space to plant these Sound Boxes. That way, you’ll get to use them sooner!”

”Yes, sir!” Qin Haonan gave a goofy salute, then turned and left with a smile.

But he stopped after just two steps.

”Boss, do you think this Banyan Forest being so dense will affect the growth of other trees?”

Hearing his question, Ren Yuanyang was slightly taken aback, then smiled. ”I’m surprised you thought of that!”

”Of course! I’m very smart, you know!” Qin Haonan started getting full of himself again.

Ren Yuanyang was speechless again. ”If it really had an effect, how did things like the Diesel Trees grow?”

Qin Haonan paused, a little confused. ”Yeah! When trees are planted this densely, don’t they affect each other?”

Ren Yuanyang explained irritably, ”Under normal circumstances, they would. But ours are all Evolutionary Plants, so we don’t have to worry!”

”But can the nutrients really keep up?” Qin Haonan’s brow furrowed.

”Didn’t you see the message in the regional channel that the rainwater contains a large amount of nutrients?” Ren Yuanyang countered.

”I saw it, but we have so many trees. Won’t they use up all the nutrients?” Qin Haonan was worried.

Ren Yuanyang laughed. ”You’re actually worried about that! Don’t worry. At least for now, it doesn’t look like that will happen!”

”Alright then, I’ll go clear a spot!” Qin Haonan turned and left.

The heavy rain hadn’t stopped, so for the time being, the nutrient issue wasn’t a concern. As for why the rain contained so many nutrients, that was a question Ren Yuanyang couldn’t investigate at his current stage. ’I’ll just have to take it one step at a time.’

Ren Yuanyang shook his head and immediately reinforced the Sound Box seeds in his hand. He would start by reinforcing ten of them.

’Reinforce growth speed seven times, and reinforce the fruit’s explosive power and safety once each!’

Ren Yuanyang considered it for a moment and used up all nine of his reinforcement opportunities.

[Reinforcement Successful!]

[Sound Box Seed (+9): Growth cycle from seed to mature tree shortened to 2.8 days... Explosive power enhanced. After detonation, seeds will scatter in all directions at a speed of 300 km/h... Fruit safety enhanced. Will not detonate automatically upon maturity. Explosion will occur ten seconds after the stem is removed or upon impact...]

According to scientists’ observations, when a normal Sound Box fruit matures and explodes, it breaks into multiple parts, launching its seeds outwards at 250 kilometers per hour. Of course, that was the highest speed they had ever observed.

After Ren Yuanyang’s reinforcement, this speed was boosted directly to 300 kilometers per hour, and every single seed would fly out at that speed!

’When will I finally get past this nine-reinforcement limit!’ Ren Yuanyang felt like he didn’t have enough reinforcements to work with.

He wanted to reinforce the explosive power and safety a few more times, but he could only afford one reinforcement for each. Any more would slow down the growth speed.

’For now, I can only pin my hopes on the Evolution Potion!’

Ren Yuanyang pushed the thoughts from his mind and soaked the reinforced seeds in a basin of water. Once they sprouted into seedlings, he could plant them in the water.

Qin Haonan shouldered a large axe and searched the Banyan Forest for a place to plant the Sound Boxes.

He wandered over to the west side of the Banyan Forest and saw Wang Feng sitting idly near five beehives.

Seeing Qin Haonan approach with an axe on his shoulder, Wang Feng immediately stood up and called out, ”Sir, where are you headed?”

”Just call me Haonan from now on. ’Sir’ is what we call the boss!” Qin Haonan waved his hand dismissively. ”The boss told me to clear out some spots to plant trees.”

”Let me help!” Wang Feng volunteered.

”That’d be great!” Qin Haonan immediately handed his axe over to him.

Wang Feng was slightly taken aback but took the axe.

Qin Haonan ran back and returned with another axe.

”Follow me!”

Qin Haonan led Wang Feng to a spot where the aerial roots weren’t as dense.

”Clear out a two-meter-square space! Let’s get to it!” Qin Haonan swung his axe and started chopping.

At his side, Wang Feng asked uncertainly, ”Should we just chop these branches down? Won’t it affect the forest’s ability to block the wind?”

”Don’t worry. As long as we don’t touch the main trunks, it won’t have any effect! Get chopping!” Qin Haonan replied with a smile.

Wang Feng nodded and started swinging his axe.

After just one swing, Wang Feng froze. ”Why is it so hard?”

”If it wasn’t hard, how could it withstand the ravages of the strong winds?” Qin Haonan retorted.

Wang Feng nodded. ”Evolved trees really are different! If this wood could be used to make furniture or boats, they would probably be incredibly sturdy!”
