Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 137: Chapter 132: A Bountiful Harvest, Harmonizing the Potions

Ren Yuanyang chuckled and countered, ”If supplies are showing up right beneath our base, why do you still need to go out and confirm?”

Qin Haonan froze for a moment before it dawned on him. ”You’re right, I don’t need to go out and check at all!”

The area beneath the Banyan Forest was covered in bitter grass. As long as the grass had wrapped around any supplies, Ren Yuanyang could sense it through the forest.

The bitter grass was in contact with the banyan roots. Ren Yuanyang just had to touch any banyan tree to know if the grass had entangled any supplies.

”From now on, just stick to your regular patrol route,” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile.

”Roger that, Boss!” Qin Haonan went back to tackling the chicken leg in his hand.

Lu Jiamei tore open a pack of raisins. Munching on them, she pointed toward the daily necessities and asked, ”Boss, how should we distribute the feminine hygiene products?”

”You figure it out. It’s not like I have any use for them,” Ren Yuanyang said with a wave of his hand.

”Okay, thanks, Boss!” Lu Jiamei responded cheerfully.

Then she and Xin Wan went over to the feminine products and began to sort through them.

This dark tide allowed some survivors to gather a significant amount of supplies, especially the Evolvers and Mutants.

Yu Ren was one of the people who benefited greatly from this dark tide.

With the gills he’d developed through mutation, he could move about underwater with complete freedom. For him, diving was as easy as breathing.

As soon as he received Ren Yuanyang’s warning that the dark tide was beginning, he immediately dove into the water and salvaged a large haul of supplies.

The two survivors under his control watched with wide eyes. At the same time, they felt an unexpected sliver of relief.

’If we stick with such a powerful Mutant, survival shouldn’t be a problem from now on!’

’We might even live better than before!’

From just one dark tide, Yu Ren had already hauled up a small boat full of supplies, most of which was food.

He couldn’t be bothered to bring up any other types of supplies. After his mutation, he even felt more comfortable in the water than on the boat. It was only his subconscious that still insisted he was supposed to live on a boat, not in the water.

”My lord, you’re incredible! You brought up so many supplies after just a few dives!”

”That’s right! I bet that besides the people on those big ships, no one salvaged more supplies than you, my lord!”

Yu Ren enjoyed the flattery from the two survivors. He picked out two packs of instant noodles from the supplies and tossed them to the pair.

”A reward for you. Behave yourselves from now on, and there’ll be more where that came from,” Yu Ren said condescendingly.

”Yes, my lord!” the two men replied in unison, happily scrambling to pick up the instant noodles as they bowed.

”You’re dismissed,” Yu Ren said with a wave. The two men immediately withdrew.

Yu Ren narrowed his eyes as he looked at the messages in the regional channel on his phone.

’It’s a good thing I didn’t rashly follow that speedboat to Peach Blossom Base last time.’ Yu Ren felt a surge of relief. ’Based on how they’ve been acting, they’re very strong. If I had gone over recklessly, I probably would have been the one who ended up under their control. Back then, I wanted to take over their obscure little base. Looking back now, I was completely delusional!’

’Looks like I’ll need a solid plan if I want to make a move on Peach Blossom Base.’

Even though Peach Blossom Base appeared formidable on the regional channel, Yu Ren was still determined to make a move against them.

During their last trade, Qin Haonan had forced him into the water, and he now held a grudge.

’Even if I can’t conquer Peach Blossom Base, I can’t just let this go!’

「Meanwhile, at the edge of the Banyan Forest at Peach Blossom Base」

Everyone on the yacht had showered and was now sitting on the sofas in the main lounge, chatting idly.

”This world just keeps getting weirder. Look at all this instant ramen and stuff we salvaged. Shouldn’t it have been floating on the surface?”

”Maybe something was holding it down?”

”It’s possible they were inside buildings. When the flood hit, they didn’t get washed out, but the dark tide managed to dislodge them.”

”Yeah, that’s probably it.”

”Alright, let’s not worry about why this stuff didn’t float to the surface for now. It’s time to make lunch so we don’t fall behind on this afternoon’s work,” Si Youqin said, clapping her hands to get everyone’s attention.

”Okay, Sister Qin!” the group replied, laughing.

Ren Yuanyang was lying in his room, browsing the files Wang Jun had sent over.

Staring at the research paper, which was as long-winded and tedious as an old woman’s foot bindings, made Ren Yuanyang’s head spin. He hadn’t read a single academic paper since graduating from college.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head in resignation. He flipped straight to the end of the paper to read the conclusion. ’If I can’t even understand this,’ he thought, ’then forget it. I should leave specialized work to the specialists instead of meddling.’

”The special substance in the rainwater has a strengthening effect on the human body, but the process is very slow. As long as the concentration of this substance does not exceed fifty percent, the effect remains gradual. When the concentration surpasses fifty percent, the effect becomes significant, but the human body is unable to withstand the transformative Energy, leading to physical collapse...”

”The Evolution Potions are solutions of this special substance at varying concentrations. The current challenge is to find another substance that can mitigate the potion’s potency...”

After reading the conclusions, Ren Yuanyang pursed his lips. ’So the Evolution Potions are just this special substance purified from rainwater,’ he mused. ’The purification method should be in the files leaked from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier. It seems like the Aircraft Carrier Base has been researching this for ages without making any real progress!’

In truth, the researchers couldn’t be blamed. The aircraft carrier fleet did have a fair amount of scientific equipment, but it was nothing compared to what was available before the flood.
