Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 129: Chapter 127: Undercurrent Intelligence, Stirring Intentions

”When you said you fished a phone out of the water, I thought you were lying to me!” Lu Jiamei said, equally surprised.

”You actually doubted the boss?” Qin Haonan shot Lu Jiamei an exaggerated look.

Lu Jiamei rolled her eyes. ”Why don’t you try fishing a phone out of the water for me? I was just thinking like a normal person. Who knew our leader wasn’t normal at all!”

”What’s that supposed to mean? How am I not normal?” Ren Yuanyang asked, left speechless.

”Normal people can’t make plants evolve!” Lu Jiamei retorted matter-of-factly.

”Can’t argue with that!” Qin Haonan chimed in.

Seeing the conversation starting to go off-topic, Hua Lingfang steered it back. ”Sir, are we also going to be salvaging some supplies this time?”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Yes. But we don’t need to make any special preparations for it. We just need to pull the supplies up after the bitter grass has wrapped around them.”

Hua Lingfang paused for a moment, then nodded.

”Then isn’t the map Captain Wang gave us pretty much useless?” Lu Jiamei frowned slightly.

”Of course it’s useful,” Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head. ”If there are any supply points nearby, we can just take the military speedboat over, salvage them, and bring them back.”

As they spoke, Wang Jun sent over several pictures—all screenshots from the map on that unknown phone app, with locations marked.

Consulting the map, Ren Yuanyang saw that there was only one small county town nearby. The supplies there were probably limited.

However, part of the small county town’s location overlapped with the Banyan Forest, which would make it convenient for Ren Yuanyang and his team to salvage supplies.

Ren Yuanyang forwarded the pictures to Lu Jiamei and the others, saying optimistically, ”Looks like we’re pretty lucky. There’s a small county town nearby, and it even overlaps with our position. We might be able to get some supplies this time!”

”Just one small county town? The supplies will probably be limited,” Qin Haonan said, pursing his lips.

”Not necessarily. If it was marked by the Aircraft Carrier Base, that means this small town should have a decent amount of supplies,” Lu Jiamei countered.

”This county town should be Lu City, from Dragon Country. Among all counties, its GDP was ranked number one in the nation,” Hua Lingfang said after carefully examining the Aircraft Carrier Base’s markings.

Ren Yuanyang was slightly stunned, then pleasantly surprised. ”Lu City is that impressive?”

”Yes, Lu City’s economy was on par with some second-tier cities!” Lu Jiamei added.

”Looks like our luck is pretty good after all!” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile. ”When you’re on patrol tonight, take the bitter grass and swing by the area of Lu City marked by the Aircraft Carrier Base. See if you find anything.”

”Yes, sir!” Lu Jiamei and Qin Haonan replied in unison.

”Alright, it’s getting late. Everyone head back and get some rest,” Ren Yuanyang said with a wave of his hand.

The group put on their raincoats and headed toward their respective bamboo huts.

Back in their own rooms, they realized they hadn’t brought any sheets or bedding back from the yacht.

The temperature was still quite high, so the need for blankets wasn’t great. They decided to make do for one night and deal with it tomorrow.

Ren Yuanyang returned to his room and opened the regional channel. The Aircraft Carrier Base had already announced the matter of the undercurrents, and everyone was discussing it.

”The undercurrents can bring sunken supplies from the seabed to within ten meters of the surface? What damn use is that?! Who dares to dive ten meters underwater right now?”

”It’s useless for ordinary people, sure, but it’s still useful for those with large vessels!”

”Not just the big vessels, but also the Evolvers! Their physiques and combat abilities are much stronger than ours. They can definitely dive into the water to get supplies!”

”I don’t think that’s very likely! Most things that sink to the bottom are pretty heavy. Even if an Evolver can dive down ten meters, how could they pull the supplies to the surface all by themselves?”

”Correction for the bro above me: something that sinks doesn’t have to be super heavy, it just needs to have an average density greater than water. As long as it isn’t exceptionally large, it can still be pulled up easily!”

”If that’s the case, then I’m really going to have to get in the water and give it a try!”

”Is the guy above a powerful Evolver?”

”No, I’m just a good swimmer. Diving ten meters shouldn’t be a problem for me.”

”Be careful, man! There’s more than just supplies down there, there are all kinds of aquatic creatures!”

”Thanks for the warning, I’ll be careful!”

Naturally, this information was also seen by Yu Ren, the mutant who had previously tried to tail Qin Haonan.

”This is practically made for me!” Yu Ren was excited. He walked right out of his cabin and dove headfirst into the water.

The announcement had been very clear: no one was certain exactly when the undercurrents would appear, so he had to go down and check things out first.

「In Peach Blossom Base」

Ren Yuanyang had already turned off his phone. As was his habit, he enhanced a batch of seeds, completely draining his Mental Energy, and then fell straight to sleep.

Lu Jiamei was still on duty for the first half of the night. Following Ren Yuanyang’s orders, she piloted the military speedboat out into the open water.

Although the wind and waves outside were strong, the military speedboat could withstand winds below Force 8, so heading out wasn’t too dangerous.

Besides, the area Lu Jiamei needed to patrol was very close to the Banyan Forest. If any trouble arose, she could quickly return to its cover.

On the yacht moored at the edge of the Banyan Forest, three crew members on duty were on the top-deck lookout, observing the surroundings.

Suddenly, a speedboat shot out from within the Banyan Forest, and the three of them immediately tensed up.
