Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 86: Chapter 85: Cleaning Up the Base, Astonishing Yield

Hua Lingfang paused at the words, then nodded.

Ren Yuanyang’s ability was too incredible. If the other big-ship factions discovered it, he would definitely be captured and exploited to the fullest.

If he were to meet a benevolent leader, he might retain some freedom. But it was far more likely he would have his freedom restricted, becoming a mere tool for producing evolved plants for a base.

”If we just find a sea region with winds below Level 2, wouldn’t we stop worrying about the Duckweed drifting with the current?” Hua Wen felt he had found a solution.

Hua Lingfang shook his head slightly. ”Our base is too conspicuous. It’s bound to attract the attention of other survivors, and in turn, the attention of those big-ship factions.”

At this, Hua Lingfang frowned slightly. ”Doesn’t that mean we’re in great danger right now?”

Putting everything else aside, this Banyan Forest growing on the water’s surface was enough to draw a crowd of onlookers!

”Don’t worry, Elder Hua. Basically no one comes around here!” Qin Haonan said with immense confidence.

Hua Lingfang was taken aback again. ”Why is that?”

”Because we’re currently in the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. Forget individual survivors—even the big ships wouldn’t choose to anchor in a region like this!” Qin Haonan explained with a smile, swinging his blade to cut away an aerial root.

”What!” Hua Lingfang was completely stunned.

Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan both nodded, confirming that what Qin Haonan said was true.

”Then how are we supposed to survive when the winds reach Level 7?” Hua Lingfang asked, growing anxious.

Right now, the base only had a few small boats. The heaviest thing was probably the shipping container, but even that would be hard to keep stable in Level 7 winds. It was in danger of capsizing, to say nothing of the other small boats!

”Don’t worry, Elder Hua. Since the Boss chose to build the base here, it means he has a way to withstand Level 7 winds,” Qin Haonan said reassuringly.

Hua Lingfang paused for a moment, then nodded.

Ren Yuanyang was so powerful; he wouldn’t be courting his own death. He must have a plan to deal with it.

At that moment, Ren Yuanyang was cleaning up inside the shipping container. Except for the small pond made from a waterproof tarp, everything else had been moved out. Some of the plants had also been transferred to the area near the house outside!

Once the banyan trees grew a bit denser, all the plants in the container could be moved outside to be planted.

In the future, this shipping container could serve as a place to eat and hold discussions.

They just lacked chairs and benches. For those, they would have to wait for the Moso bamboo to mature and see what Hua Lingfang’s craftsmanship was like!

Coming out of the container, Ren Yuanyang walked toward the main trunk of the banyan tree. The Cherry Tomatoes he had planted earlier had been moved near the trunk yesterday. Cherry Tomatoes were vining herbaceous plants, so they could use the banyan trunk as a trellis.

The trunk was now covered in bright red Cherry Tomatoes!

”Cherry Tomatoes that yield sixteen hundred fruits per plant are no joke. There are so many!” Ren Yuanyang walked over, plucked a few, rinsed them with purified water, and popped them into his mouth.

Sweet juice instantly burst in his mouth. The flesh was soft and tender, and exceptionally sweet!

”Not bad!” Ren Yuanyang nodded in satisfaction.

He then found a random container, picked one or two hundred Cherry Tomatoes, rinsed them with purified water, and headed over to Lu Jiamei’s location in his small boat.

Two more people had joined the cleanup effort today. Although it was one old and one young, their combat effectiveness was remarkably high.

They had only been clearing for an hour, but the work was already nearing completion!

Qin Haonan was the first to spot Ren Yuanyang. He immediately called out, ”Boss, you’re here!”

The others also stopped what they were doing to greet Ren Yuanyang.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly, jumped onto the speedboat while holding the Cherry Tomatoes, and asked Lu Jiamei, ”Have all four exits been cleared?”

”They’ve all been cleared according to the plan. We’ve also opened up eight planting spaces at a ten-meter radius, each one three meters square!” Lu Jiamei reported.

The ten-meter radius she mentioned was calculated with the main banyan trunk as the center.

”Alright, everyone come back and take a break. The Cherry Tomatoes are ripe, so you can all have a taste!” Ren Yuanyang set down the Cherry Tomatoes and spoke to Hua Lingfang and the others who were on the trunk clearing aerial roots.

”Alright!” Qin Haonan was the first to jump from the trunk onto the speedboat. Seeing the large basin of Cherry Tomatoes, he exclaimed in delight, ”Boss, do these Cherry Tomatoes produce this many all at once?”

”A lot? This is only one-eighth of the yield from a single plant!” Ren Yuanyang replied.

Hearing this, Qin Haonan was completely stunned. ”Is the yield for Cherry Tomatoes really that high?”

Hua Lingfang followed behind him and said, ”I’ve heard that some varieties of Cherry Tomatoes can yield four or five hundred fruits per plant. Even so, that’s not as many as yours, Sir! Your Cherry Tomatoes must have evolved for higher yield!”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Yes, that’s right.”

Hua Wen stared at the Cherry Tomatoes, swallowing constantly.

”I’ve already washed them, so you can eat them directly!” Ren Yuanyang said, taking one from the basin and popping it into his mouth.

As he chewed, the sweet fragrance of the Cherry Tomatoes wafted through the air.

Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan eagerly picked one up and started eating.

”Mmm, delicious! The quality of these Cherry Tomatoes is amazing!” Xin Wan praised.

”These are evolved Cherry Tomatoes, of course the quality is much better!” Qin Haonan was already stuffing a third one into his mouth.

”You two should eat too. If you wait any longer, Haonan’s going to eat them all!” Ren Yuanyang said with a laugh, seeing that Hua Lingfang and his grandson hadn’t started yet.

”Thank you, Sir!” Hua Lingfang clasped his hands in a gesture of thanks, then led his grandson forward. They each took one.

Seeing how reserved they were, Ren Yuanyang spoke again. ”Don’t be so formal. Eat as much as you like. As long as your bodies can handle it, eat more. Otherwise, they might go bad before we can finish them!”

Hearing this, Hua Lingfang paused, then asked curiously, ”Sir, how much was the total harvest this time?”

”I planted four plants in total, so the harvest should be over six thousand fruits. Each one weighs about 15 grams, so that’s over 90 kilograms!” Ren Yuanyang calculated out loud.

Hearing this calculation, Hua Lingfang’s eyes widened. ”Then they really might go bad!”

”Boss, I think we only got the Cherry Tomato seeds two or three days ago! Are they already ripe?” Qin Haonan suddenly thought of this.

”They’ve evolved, so of course they mature faster!” Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.

Hua Lingfang, who had just taken a bite of a Cherry Tomato, froze again. He stopped chewing, the tomato still in his mouth, and stared at Ren Yuanyang in shock.

When he came to his senses, he swallowed the tomato in his mouth and hurriedly asked, ”Sir, do you mean to say we can harvest over ninety kilograms of Cherry Tomatoes in just two or three days?”

”You could say that, but it’s not entirely accurate!” Ren Yuanyang’s answer left Hua Lingfang feeling baffled.

”Does that mean there are other limitations?” Hua Lingfang pressed urgently.

”Of course. We only planted four this time. If we had planted more, the yield would certainly be higher than this!” Ren Yuanyang analyzed seriously.

Hua Lingfang was utterly dumbfounded. He had assumed there were limitations related to the weather, space, or Ren Yuanyang’s own ability. He never expected the only limitation Ren Yuanyang was talking about was the number of plants they had planted!

”Doesn’t that mean we can produce massive quantities of Cherry Tomatoes in a short period of time?” Hua Lingfang felt he had been shocked to the point of numbness.
