Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Soaring Aircraft Carrier, Evolution Potion

The sudden breeze that appeared today sent most of the survivors into a panic.

”It’s over! The wind is really picking up!”

”What do I do? My raft is going to capsize!”

”Looking for a big ship to take me in! I’m willing to join unconditionally!”

”I doubt the big ships are even willing to take us in now! After all, it would cost them a lot of fuel to come get us. To be honest, we’re worth less than the fuel in their tanks right now!”

Of course, there were also a few survivors who couldn’t care less.

”Do you guys really need to be so pessimistic? It’s just a light breeze. It’s not like it’s guaranteed to turn into a huge storm. What’s there to be scared of?”

”Yeah, you guys are such cowards. A little breeze is nothing to worry about!”

”To the two bros above me, you’ve never been out at sea, have you? You probably don’t know how temperamental the ocean is, or how terrifying it can be when it gets angry!”

”We’ve been out here for over three months, and it’s been fine!”

”But the ocean hasn’t been its normal self for these past three months!”

”Well, maybe the ocean has changed, just like the rest of the planet!”

”You’re sure optimistic!”

Just then, a new message popped up.

”Hello, everyone! We on the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier are willing to accept anyone who seeks refuge. However, due to fuel limitations, we will not be coming to pick you up. You’ll have to come to us. We will be sharing our position in real-time. Survivors nearby are welcome to join us. The number of spots on the carrier is limited, so if you want to get on board, you need to hurry!”

Seeing this message, Ren Yuanyang was taken aback. ”Someone actually dares to reveal their coordinates? Aren’t they afraid of being robbed?”

He searched his memories but didn’t recall ever hearing of a Feixiang Aircraft Carrier.

’Perhaps my predecessor never paid attention to aircraft carriers, but as someone from the establishment, Lu Jiamei should know, right?’

With this in mind, Ren Yuanyang grabbed his phone and walked toward the speedboat.

He called over to Lu Jiamei, who was still on lookout duty outside. They boarded the speedboat together, and he placed his phone on the table.

”An aircraft carrier just revealed its position. Have you ever heard of the Feixiang?” Ren Yuanyang asked Lu Jiamei after a brief explanation.

Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan immediately gathered around and scrolled through the chat history in the regional channel.

”The Feixiang? Never heard of it. At least, the Dragon Country doesn’t have an aircraft carrier by that name!” Lu Jiamei frowned in thought for a moment before shaking her head.

”Could the people in control of the carrier have changed its name?” Ren Yuanyang asked with a frown.

”That’s also a possibility!” Lu Jiamei nodded slightly. ”Chief, you’re not thinking of joining them, are you?”

Ren Yuanyang shook his head decisively. ”We’re not that desperate yet. I’m not going to seek refuge with them based on a single message!”

”Exactly! It could be a trap,” Xin Wan agreed. ”By claiming to be an aircraft carrier, they scare off other large ships and only attract small boats or rafts. The Feixiang could just sit there and harvest people.”

”But what if they do attract other aircraft carriers?” Lu Jiamei countered.

Xin Wan paused for a moment. ”That’s unlikely, right?”

”The supplies on an aircraft carrier are definitely worth the trip for another carrier,” Lu Jiamei analyzed.

”So you’re saying they might actually be an aircraft carrier?” Xin Wan found it a little hard to believe.

”As long as they don’t come for us, it doesn’t really matter if they’re a real carrier or not,” Ren Yuanyang said. ”Let’s just focus on developing our own strength.”

Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan both nodded.

”Chief, have the kiwifruit seedlings Qin Haonan brought over been planted yet?” Lu Jiamei asked.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”Not enough Mental Energy. They haven’t been strengthened enough yet.”

”Not enough Mental Energy again? It’s like you’re being forced to constantly increase your Mental Energy!” Lu Jiamei said, exasperated.

The Diesel Tree couldn’t be strengthened due to a lack of Mental Energy, and now the kiwifruit seedlings can’t be strengthened enough for the same reason!

’Mental Energy is needed for everything!’

Hearing Lu Jiamei’s casual complaint, Ren Yuanyang had a sudden realization. ’Could it be that the system set up so many restrictions just to force me to increase my Mental Energy?’

He sighed and shook his head. ”You’re right. But there are no shortcuts to raising Mental Energy. We can only take it slow.”

Just then, a message came in from Qin Haonan: ”Boss, did you see the messages in the group chat?”

”Yeah, I saw them,” Ren Yuanyang replied.

”So, what should we do?” Qin Haonan asked.

Ren Yuanyang raised an eyebrow. ”You want to join that aircraft carrier too?”

”No, I just want to follow you, Boss!” Qin Haonan replied immediately. ”I’ll go wherever you go!”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”I’m not going to seek refuge with a big ship based on a single, unverified message. Besides, we don’t know the situation on board. Rushing over there could be like a lamb entering a tiger’s den.”

Qin Haonan was stunned for a moment, then nodded. ”I understand! Then the news that they can make ordinary people evolve must be a lie too!”

”Yeah.” Ren Yuanyang casually replied with a word, then it hit him. ”What did you say? They can turn ordinary people into Evolvers?”

”Yeah, they just posted it in the regional channel. Didn’t you see it?” Qin Haonan asked, confused. After all, Ren Yuanyang had just said he’d seen the messages.

Ren Yuanyang immediately switched back to the regional channel and scrolled up a couple of pages. Sure enough, he saw the message from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier.

”To all survivors, the laboratory on our aircraft carrier has developed an Evolution Potion that can turn ordinary people into Evolvers. The reason we are accepting refugees this time is to select people to help them become Evolvers, so they can better serve us!”

What followed was a heated discussion among the survivors.

”For real? If you have this potion, why not use it on your own people on the carrier?”

”Exactly, it has to be a lie!”

”Everyone on our carrier has already evolved. We’ll show you a video!”

The Feixiang Aircraft Carrier immediately posted a video. In it, a line of soldiers stood on the deck, and though it was pouring rain, their clothes remained completely dry.

With a gesture, they made all the raindrops freeze in mid-air, then fly sideways into the sea.

”Holy shit, are they all Water-Type Evolvers?”

”Evolvers are already incredibly rare. To see more than ten of them at once is unheard of!”

”So their Evolution Potion is real?”

”Most likely!”

”Then what are you waiting for? Let’s go!”

”Bro, calm down! An aircraft carrier has over two thousand people, at least. If it’s a large nuclear-powered one, it’s even more. And with the flood, there are probably even more people on board! With so many people, why are there only a dozen or so Water-Type Evolvers? I don’t need to spell out what that means, do I?”

”There’s a failure rate for injecting the Evolution Potion?”

”Probably! And they haven’t said a single word about what happens if it fails!”

”No, our potion doesn’t fail. The other crew members are just busy,” the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier account immediately explained.

Seeing this, Ren Yuanyang, who had initially been interested in the Evolution Potion, shook his head slightly.

A potion developed in this kind of environment, and they dare to claim a 100% success rate?

If they had just given a success rate, some survivors might have actually believed them!

’I thought I’d found a shortcut to raising my Mental Energy, but it seems this isn’t reliable after all!’
