Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 72: Chapter 71: Attracting Attention, Green Pheasant’s Surrender

”Haonan and I are going to get some rest,” Ren Yuanyang said, finishing his chat with Wang Jun. ”If Haonan gets a message, come wake us up.”

”Okay!” Lu Jiamei agreed with a nod.

Ren Yuanyang sent the excited Qin Haonan back to the military speedboat before returning to the container himself.

Lying in bed, Ren Yuanyang could feel a faint rocking.

”I hope the Banyan Forest does a good job of blocking the wind and waves. Otherwise, we’ll be sleeping in cradles from now on!” Ren Yuanyang muttered. He then rolled over and fell fast asleep.

Meanwhile, all combat personnel aboard the Jianfu Aircraft Carrier fleet were on standby.

”Report, Captain! Our drones have spotted the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier, one hundred nautical miles out!”

Wang Jun commanded in a low voice, ”Continue reconnaissance of the area around the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier. Find their masters and see where they’re hiding!”

”Yes, sir!”

”Share the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier’s location with the Liaoyuan and the Lu Ban!” Wang Jun continued.

At the same time, the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier also spotted the Jianfu.

”Everyone says Dragon Country’s electronic jamming is so powerful, but it looks pretty ordinary to me. Our drones found them easily enough!” the Feixiang’s captain, Yamamoto Goro, said with a look of disdain.

”Perhaps they didn’t turn on their jammers due to power supply issues,” an aide at his side speculated. ”Dragon Country’s electronic jamming still demonstrated formidable strength during our previous exercises.”

”That was then. It’s different now, after the flood,” Yamamoto Goro said with a smile.

A nuclear-powered aircraft carrier could sail 500,000 nautical miles after refueling once, while a conventionally powered carrier had to refuel weekly.

And now, with the land flooded and resupply impossible, non-nuclear carriers had to pay special attention to their energy reserves.

The aide nodded slightly and asked with a frown, ”Should we take the initiative and attack? Dragon Country’s missiles are still incredibly dangerous.”

”Don’t worry. General Mike said they’ll help us intercept,” Yamamoto Goro said with a reassuring smile. ”Besides, if we attack now, wouldn’t we be tipping our hand?”

The aide was still worried, but he could only nod in resignation.

By this point, the Liaoyuan and the Lu Ban had reached their designated areas, and the Jianfu’s drones had located the Sea Eagle Country’s carrier fleet, hidden twenty nautical miles away.

Wang Jun immediately contacted the other two fleets.

”Gentlemen, our drones have located the Sea Eagle Country’s carrier fleet. I’m leaving them to you!”

Long Zhan smiled slightly. ”No problem!”

”Rest assured, we can at least tie up the Sea Eagle Country’s fleet,” Ji Yizhi replied as well.

”In that case, I’ll begin,” Wang Jun replied. He then gave the order to engage and simultaneously sent a live feed to Qin Haonan.

Lu Jiamei heard a notification chime from Qin Haonan’s phone and immediately went to wake him and Ren Yuanyang.

”Has it begun?” Ren Yuanyang asked, stepping onto the speedboat.

”It has!” Qin Haonan was incredibly excited. He had already opened the live feed from Wang Jun.

The Jianfu had launched its ship-based missiles. One after another, they soared into the distance, trailing plumes of fire.

”Can they even hit their target like this?” Ren Yuanyang asked with a slight frown.

”Definitely!” Lu Jiamei replied confidently. ”Even if its signal is jammed and it can’t receive commands, it will use its independent visual system to find the largest available ship and crash into it!”

Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment, then chuckled. ”So it doesn’t go for the right target, just the biggest one, huh?”

”You could say that,” Lu Jiamei nodded. ”But a large vessel is never a low-value target. Hitting one is always a net gain.”

”That’s a fair point,” Ren Yuanyang agreed.

Aboard the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier, Yamamoto Goro saw the enemy suddenly launch missiles and immediately called for support.

”General Mike, they’ve launched missiles! We need support!”

”Don’t be nervous. The anti-missile ships are already in your vicinity. Their missiles can’t hurt you,” Mike replied with extreme confidence.

At the same time, numerous decoy flares suddenly launched from near the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier, blooming like festival fireworks.

Sure enough, the missiles launched by the Jianfu were thrown off. They began to circle above the Feixiang before finally locking onto the nearest large ship and streaking toward it.

That brief delay was all the anti-aircraft cannons on the ships needed to react.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

A dense barrage of shells erupted, and they actually managed to blow the incoming missile out of the sky!

BOOM!

A few beautiful firework-like explosions blossomed in mid-air.

”They actually intercepted it?” Ren Yuanyang said, surprised.

Lu Jiamei was stunned as well. ’That’s not up to the usual standard for Dragon Country missiles!’

Immediately after, the Jianfu launched another volley of missiles.

”If they can’t hit their targets, isn’t it a waste to keep launching?” Qin Haonan asked in confusion.

”If even we can see the drawbacks, there’s no way Wang Jun can’t. If he knows and is doing it anyway, it can only mean he has another objective,” Ren Yuanyang analyzed.

”Another objective?” Qin Haonan was stunned.

Lu Jiamei was the first to realize. ”Is it to draw their fire and create a diversion for the other two carrier fleets?”

”That’s the most likely scenario,” Ren Yuanyang agreed with a slight nod.

On the Feixiang, Yamamoto Goro saw that the enemy had launched even more missiles and cursed under his breath, ”Damn, Dragon Country has a lot of missiles!”

Then he got back on the line to request aid from Sea Eagle Country.

”General Mike, they’ve launched another wave of missiles! Requesting interception! Aren’t you going to make your move?”

Aboard the Sea Eagle Country carrier, Mike replied around the large pipe clenched in his teeth, ”Patience. We’re about to make our move.”

Just as the Sea Eagle Country carrier fleet finished locking on to their targets and prepared to attack, a huge volley of missiles suddenly streaked in from behind them!

”General, an unknown fleet of indeterminate size has appeared to our rear and has opened fire on us!”

”It’s more than one Dragon Country carrier fleet!”

Mike could gauge the scale of the fleet behind him by their firepower alone. He gave the order without hesitation: ”Retreat! Tell the Feixiang to retreat, now!”

’There’s one fleet in front of us attacking the Feixiang, and more than one fleet attacking us from behind. Dragon Country only has three carrier fleets in total... that means they’ve all come!’

”Is the Dragon Country carrier fleet insane?” Mike cursed. ”Sending all three carriers for such a minor issue!”

As he cursed, missiles from the rear had already struck the frigates in his fleet. With his anti-missile ships near the Feixiang, the remaining ships’ own anti-aircraft cannons were no match for the Dragon Country’s missiles.

After seeing three of his frigates destroyed in an instant, Mike dared not linger a moment longer and ordered his aircraft carrier to flee at full speed.

Yamamoto Goro was utterly dumbfounded when he received Mike’s order.

”Why the sudden retreat?”

”According to intel from Sea Eagle Country, all three of Dragon Country’s carrier fleets are here!”

”All of them? How is that possible! What a waste of fuel!”

But whether Yamamoto Goro was willing to believe it or not, all three carrier fleets had indeed arrived.

”We’re finished,” Yamamoto Goro muttered, slumping into his seat.

And then, the Jianfu Aircraft Carrier’s third wave of attacks descended with the fury of a thunderstorm.

Without the Sea Eagle Country’s anti-missile ships, the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier fleet was struck in an instant.

Amid the fiery explosions, the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier raised a white flag.

”Excellent. It looks like our transaction with Wang Jun and the others will proceed smoothly,” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile, watching the Lvzhi Country carrier surrender.
