Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Prepare for Battle, Strengthen the Spray Melon

When the regional channel saw the Feixiang admit it was an aircraft carrier from Lvzhi Country, the chat immediately exploded.

”You sons of bitches, get the hell out of our regional channel!”

”Where’s our aircraft carrier? We can’t just let a carrier from Lvzhi Country act all high and mighty in our territory!”

”Damn it, if you’re going to fight Lvzhi Country, count me in!”

Seeing the indignant messages in the regional channel, Yamamoto Goro laughed.

’Go on, be angry,’ he thought. ’If your aircraft carrier dares to come, I’ll make sure it never returns!’

He had already received a reply from the Sea Eagle Country. If the Dragon Country’s aircraft carrier dared to approach, the Sea Eagle Country’s carrier fleet would come to support them immediately.

Relying on their master’s power, Lvzhi Country had nothing to fear!

Meanwhile, Ren Yuanyang had returned to the shipping container.

”Everyone, prepare for battle!” Ren Yuanyang said in a low voice, looking around at the group.

Qin Haonan was taken aback for a moment. ”Boss, are we going to attack the Feixiang?”

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”With just the few of us, we wouldn’t even be an appetizer for them.”

”Then where are we going to fight?” Qin Haonan asked, confused.

Lu Jiamei thought for a moment before asking, ”Boss, are you saying the Feixiang will come looking for us?”

Ren Yuanyang nodded and took out the USB drive. ”The Feixiang Aircraft Carrier won’t let its experimental data stay lost. Plus, the person who escaped had limited Mental Energy, so she was bound to not get far. They’ll definitely send out teams to search for her.”

”Doesn’t that mean we’re in great danger right now?” Xin Wan asked worriedly, her brows furrowed.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”The moment she escaped from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier, we were destined to be in danger.”

The group paused for a second, then all nodded in agreement.

In their search for the escaped test subject, the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier would surely scour the surrounding waters. Therefore, any survivors remaining in the vicinity would, without exception, be in danger.

”So what do we do now?” Qin Haonan asked.

”The Feixiang’s pursuers didn’t find us right away, which means she must have shaken them off. We should still have some time to prepare,” Ren Yuanyang analyzed. ”The three of you, start practicing throwing the Iron Melons. As long as you don’t pull off the stem, it won’t explode.”

”Yes, sir!” Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan replied in unison.

Qin Haonan, however, looked at Ren Yuanyang in confusion. ”Throwing melons? These melons explode?”

Lu Jiamei quickly whispered an explanation about the Iron Melons, leaving Qin Haonan completely stunned.

”A plant this amazing exists?”

”This isn’t the time to discuss that. Lu Jiamei, first, move that inflatable boat between the container and the speedboat. Hide it a little,” Ren Yuanyang ordered. ”Everyone else, start practicing!”

”Yes, sir!”

Lu Jiamei used a rope to pull the inflatable boat into the space between the container and the speedboat.

Just then, Lu Jiamei suddenly noticed something seemed to be hanging from the bottom of the boat.

She hurried onto the Round Duckweed at the container’s entrance, pulled the inflatable boat closer, and reached underneath it.

Soon, she pulled a Vine with leaves and branches out of the water. It was covered in many grayish-green fruits, each about four to five centimeters long and two centimeters wide.

”What is this?” Lu Jiamei muttered, then immediately shouted to Ren Yuanyang, who was practicing with the Iron Melons on top of the container, ”Boss, I found a new plant!”

Hearing Lu Jiamei’s shout, Ren Yuanyang immediately stopped practicing and jumped down from the container’s roof.

Lu Jiamei handed him the Vine.

[Spray Melon discovered. Strengthen?]

Spray Melon, a vining herb of the gourd family... When the fruit matures, it becomes extremely swollen. After detaching from its stalk, a hole opens at its base, and the pulp rapidly contracts, ejecting the seeds and juice simultaneously. It can spray up to five or six meters away, and its juice is poisonous...

After reading the system’s description, Ren Yuanyang was inwardly shocked. ’Isn’t this just a semi-automatic pistol with poisoned bullets?!’

With a great battle imminent, this new weapon gave them a much better chance of holding their own.

”Boss, what kind of plant is this?” Lu Jiamei asked curiously when Ren Yuanyang remained silent.

”This plant is a godsend for us. I’ll tell everyone about it in a minute,” Ren Yuanyang replied, then immediately began to strengthen it.

’With my current Mental Energy, I’ll strengthen all the Spray Melons. Prioritize spray power, then toxicity!’

[Strengthening successful.]

[Spray Melon (+5): Spray power strengthened three times. The spray has a greater initial velocity and can reach a distance of forty meters. Unarmored humans will be injured within thirty meters. Toxicity strengthened two times. As long as it touches a wound, it can rapidly invade the nervous system, causing paralysis...]

Ren Yuanyang rubbed his forehead, feeling completely drained. Looking at the dead hero-woman in the inflatable boat, her arm still raised and her eyes wide open, he said sincerely, ”Thank you.”

If she hadn’t piloted the inflatable boat here, Ren Yuanyang would never have obtained this plant.

”Go get the other two,” Ren Yuanyang ordered.

”Yes, sir!” Lu Jiamei immediately scrambled back onto the container roof and called Xin Wan and Qin Haonan over.

”Boss, what’s up?” Qin Haonan asked curiously.

Ren Yuanyang pointed to the Spray Melon he had already planted in their small pond. ”The hero-woman who escaped the Feixiang at the cost of her life and exposed the atrocities of Lvzhi Country brought us a new plant: the Spray Melon!”

Hearing this, Qin Haonan was momentarily stunned, then asked in confusion, ”Boss, at a time like this, why are we worrying about plants?”

Ren Yuanyang shook his head and continued his explanation. ”When a Spray Melon matures, a hole opens at its base where the stem falls off, and it shoots out its seeds and juice! It’s basically a disposable, semi-automatic pistol!”

Qin Haonan froze again, then immediately caught on. ”Boss, you mean this Spray Melon’s shooting ability has been enhanced?”

Ren Yuanyang nodded.

Qin Haonan’s eyes widened. ”How is that possible? Evolved plants aren’t easy to find. How come all the plants you have are evolved?”

From the chats in the regional channel, he knew that other people had also fished plants out of the water, but the vast majority were just ordinary plants.

”Haven’t you figured it out yet? Our boss is a plant-type Evolver!” Lu Jiamei couldn’t help but reveal the answer.

Qin Haonan was dumbfounded. ”Isn’t the boss a Gold-Type Evolver? Otherwise, how could this shipping container possibly be floating on the water?”

Lu Jiamei was a bit exasperated. ”Take a good look at what’s under the container.”

”Under the container?” Qin Haonan looked toward the container’s opening, where only some Duckweed was floating. Then his eyes shot wide open. ”Don’t tell me this container is being held up by Duckweed!”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly but didn’t continue the topic. Instead, he gave orders, ”Everyone test one Spray Melon. The usage is similar to the Iron Melon. When you pick it, take the stem with it. To fire, pull the stem off and aim. Be very careful not to point it at yourselves. Also, the juice the Spray Melon shoots is poisonous, so be careful not to get it on you!”

”Yes, sir!” Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan replied in unison.

Qin Haonan felt like his entire worldview had just been turned upside down.

’Can Duckweed really hold up a shipping container?’
