I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 67: Chapter 60 Chain Reaction, Lawyer_2

They know about this; as soon as word spreads in all directions, other Different Races will definitely start to have ideas.

As for that Su Yue, if he comes in again and wants to cooperate, we can relax the conditions a bit.

If a Great Zombie could come help, what we need to do would get a lot easier.

The woman grabbed her purse and left. Before long, she arrived at a law firm in Yu State New District.

As soon as she walked in, she saw a flurry of activity in the office. The firm’s big boss was frowning deeply. When he saw her, he immediately waved her over.

”Wan Jun, you’re finally here. I’m about to lose my mind.”

”What’s wrong?” Wan Jun asked, a bit puzzled.

”Come with me.” The boss pulled her into the meeting room, a hint of regret in his tone. ”Wan Jun, your promotion to partner—if this goes bad it might fall through. Some shareholders are against it.”

”Huh? What happened?” Wan Jun sounded surprised, but her eyes stayed calm.

”I’ve always had your back, you know that.

I just asked why they won’t agree to make you a partner.

Turns out it’s because of Flame Group. Everything was all planned—we were getting a big investment in Nanwu County, the branch office was already set up.

We’re their partner law firm for the Nanwu County branch, getting the biggest cut. Whether our firm rises over the next few years, it all depended on this deal.

But who could have predicted that out of nowhere, we’d get word today: Flame’s people are pulling back on their investment. All the key decision-makers have already left Nanwu County.”

”Wait, seriously?” Wan Jun’s face showed shock. ”What did they say?”

”Apparently a Flame Group executive from HQ had a sudden illness yesterday and got rushed back to their home country overnight. Then, the shareholders who came along for the site visit got into a car accident.

I asked around—those two shareholders’ legs were smashed to bits, they had to get the orthopedics director at Yu State University-affiliated Hospital to put them back together.

As for the other exec, nobody knows what exactly is wrong with him.

Wan Jun, can you ask your friends? See if anyone knows anything?

Did Flame really back out, or did something seriously go down?”

The boss saw Wan Jun staying quiet and gritted his teeth.

”Even if Flame really bails, I’ll still support you becoming a partner. You put in all the legwork for this deal and handled the negotiations. If things go wrong now, that’s not on you. As for the other shareholders, I’ll deal with them myself.”

”I’ll go check around.”

”Good, but do it as soon as you can. This sudden move from Flame has totally screwed up all our plans for the next three years.”

Wan Jun went back to her office, pulled out her phone, and dialed a number.

”Hello, Lao Liu? You at the office? Got time for a coffee?”

”Forget coffee, I’m not in the mood. I know what you want to ask. The rumors are true—Flame Group’s three top execs are all down. One had a cerebral hemorrhage, then a heart attack—went straight into a coma. Looked like a corpse. I saw him get loaded into the ambulance myself.”

Wan Jun hung up, her brow furrowed. She picked up her phone and opened a website, tapping seven or eight times before she finally reached a new page.

Reading the contents, her brows knit tighter and tighter.

The post said those Flame Group guys somehow pissed off Qin Kun of Binhai County. He issued a challenge and went straight to confront them.

He didn’t even go that hard at first, just smashed up two of their legs. But one idiot couldn’t help himself and used a Forbidden Technique, which made Qin Kun snap—he crippled him on the spot.

Getting that moron down off the wall, bones shattered in over a dozen places, his body practically embedded, took a ton of effort.

And since they used a Forbidden Technique, the Scorching Sun Department didn’t even come knocking—they should count themselves lucky. No one dared to mouth off, they all ran for it overnight.

The latest intel is that Flame Group’s backers and Qin Kun’s backers have always been at odds. This time, Flame overstepped and pissed off the wrong guy.

If it wasn’t for that, it’s not like Flame Group just arrived in Divine Land—they’ve been investing here for a year or two. And Qin Kun from Binhai isn’t the type to pick pointless fights. You think he’d go all the way to Nanwu County just to slap them around?

Reading that intel, Wan Jun felt her blood pressure spiking.

She’d spent a ton of effort hiding in this law firm to land this partnership—every bit of it earned with her own professional skill.

She cared about becoming a partner, and that would’ve given her a legitimate reason to meet with Flame Group’s people without raising suspicion.

The ones she wanted to work with were the people behind Flame Group.

But who could’ve thought, those clowns at Flame Group had to go and mess with Qin Kun for no reason!

She remembered Qin Kun from Binhai County very clearly. Last year, a Foreigner there—profession: sparring partner—his Professional Ability gave him insane resilience and vitality. Plus, he was already a professional free fighter, so he was seriously tough.

She’d even thought about going to Binhai to recruit him personally if she had the chance.

But then the guy screwed up, hurt someone when they came to arrest him, tried to make a run for it, and happened to run into Qin Kun. He even tried to beat Qin Kun to death so he could get away.

But in the end, that so-called ”human punching bag”—who could take over twenty gunshots, three to the head, and still tank them, still run and jump—because he was just too damn tough, Qin Kun had no choice but to use Martial Techniques, went all out, and couldn’t hold back, ended up blasting him apart on the spot.
