The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

Chapter 194: Chapter 18: Piglet in the Palm

When Yan Zhengya was about to set out, Tianmiao was also examining the area around Xiaozhou Mountain.

”Boss, on the surface, there doesn’t seem to be anything unusual.” Kong Hou and Dong Xiao took a lap around and said to Tianmiao upon returning to his side.

”Yes, on the surface, it really seems like there’s no problem.” Tianmiao squinted slightly, breaking off a tree branch next to him, and said solemnly, ”That’s the strange thing. A small world with sparse spiritual energy, with fairies—if it circulates for a long time, and the spiritual energy becomes dense, it might develop into a Middle World. The problem is, the spiritual energy of this world is too strange; the mutation of the intelligent pig is completely out of the ordinary...”

”What’s strange?” Kong Hou asked in confusion.

”The strange thing is that I still haven’t found the reason for the intelligent pig’s mutation.” Tianmiao’s expression turned somewhat grave. The mutation of the intelligent pig wasn’t caused by demon energy nor spiritual energy, which was very odd.

”What?!” Kong Hou and Dong Xiao were both surprised. Who is the owner? The owner is the daughter of the Heavenly Dao. Although the owner isn’t omnipotent, she can perceive many things in the vast world. This is just a small world, and yet the owner can’t find the reason for the intelligent pig’s mutation?

”Forget it, let’s keep observing.” Tianmiao didn’t dwell too much, ”Let’s head back, and watch how things develop.”

By the time Tianmiao returned to the Daoist Temple, Yan Zhengya had already left. When Yuanyuan informed Tianmiao, he didn’t care much and just instructed Yuanyuan about what to prepare for lunch and dinner.

Yan Zhengya had already gotten into a carriage heading to the destination. The invitation letter made it quite clear, requesting the Daoist to exorcise a demon, offering a reward of one hundred taels of silver once the job was done, with accommodation and round-trip travel expenses covered. Naturally, Yan Zhengya generously hired a carriage and wobbled his way to Jujube Town. Indeed, the person requesting Yan Zhengya’s exorcism resided in a place called Jujube Town.

The family that sent the help letter was the Wang Family, a wealthy household locally. In short, they have money!

”Intelligent pig, we’re going to a big place today, and there are plenty of delicacies there.” Yan Zhengya teased the intelligent pig by pinching its little hoof.

Sure enough, the intelligent pig’s ears perked up, looking at Yan Zhengya expectantly. Yan Zhengya joked, ”Once we get rid of this wolf demon and earn the silver, I’ll take you to the largest restaurant in Jujube Town for a feast! Eat till you’re full!”

The intelligent pig happily nodded its little head.

The carriage moved much faster than an ox-cart, and by noon, one person and one pig arrived at the town.

Unlike the small village they lived in, Jujube Town was a big place with tens of thousands of people. It was bustling in a different way, the street was crowded with traveling merchants and people coming and going, and the surrounding calls, the small stalls and shops had opened early.

Yan Zhengya set out early and was now hungry, so he decided to eat something first and ask about the location of the Wang Family.

Not far ahead was a noodle stall, so Yan Zhengya went over with the intelligent pig in his arms, ordering three bowls of beef noodles, one for himself and two for the intelligent pig.

The intelligent pig sat by itself, propped up, with two hooves supporting the table, bowing its head and munching away.

The stall owner watched the little pig slurp noodles non-stop and exclaimed, ”Whoa, Little Daoist, this pig can sit and eat noodles like a person? Fascinating!”

Yan Zhengya smugly laughed, ”Ha, my pig is unique, the smartest pig in the world.”

The intelligent pig wolfed down the noodles and, still unsatisfied, licked the rim of the bowl, casting a glance at Yan Zhengya’s unfinished bowl. Yan Zhengya quickly covered the bowl, ”You’ve eaten two bowls already; I haven’t even taken a few bites!”

The stall owner found the little pig remarkable, such sight was unseen in this place where cultivators bringing spirit pets wasn’t unusual, but bringing a spirit pig was a first. Usually, pigs grew fat in vile-smelling pigsties, dirty and dumb, born just to be food. This pig was not only clean but had a charming spirit, irresistibly touchable, indeed proving the Daoist’s words of being the smartest pig, and jovially added another bowl of beef noodles in front of the little pig.

”I’ll give you this bowl, no charge. Eat up.” The stall owner smiled and said.

The intelligent pig happily oinked twice, raised its little pig hooves, clapped them together, and bowed in thanks, amusing the stall owner even more. After thanking the stall owner, the intelligent pig lowered its head and focused on the noodles again.

Yan Zhengya was dumbfounded watching all this.

Why has no one ever given him beef noodles to eat? He can bow and thank too!

Waaah, people are not as good as pigs.
