The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

Chapter 177: Chapter 1: Treasure on the Palm, ”Pig

In the morning, the streets were already bustling with people. The early market was set up long ago, and enticing aromas wafted from the breakfast stalls.

A young Daoist stood in front of the bun shop, yawning, and said to the shop assistant, ”Give me two buns.”

”Alright, little Daoist. The usual meat filling?” The assistant clearly recognized this young Daoist and asked familiarly.

”Yes.” The young Daoist nodded. On his back was a peachwood sword, an Eight Diagrams Mirror hung at his waist, his hair was casually tied with a cloth strip, and his light blue coarse cloth shirt was somewhat worn and tattered. Only the Tai Chi Dao Map on the back made it barely recognizable as a Daoist robe. He looked about eighteen or nineteen years old, with ordinary looks; only his clear and spirited eyes added a touch of elegance to his overall appearance. His slightly dark skin looked quite lively.

This young Daoist, named Yan Zhengya, was the only Daoist in the area’s sole Daoist Temple for a hundred miles around. In this world, many demons roamed freely, so naturally, there were Demon Exterminators. The young Daoist was a disciple of his master’s true teachings and was a Demon Exterminator.

Yan Zhengya took out a few copper coins and handed them over, then took the buns and began to chew. As he finished one bun, urgent footsteps behind him and a heart-wrenching shout reached his ears.

”Little Daoist! I’ve been seeking you so desperately.” An expressive voice suddenly sounded behind Yan Zhengya, nearly causing him to drop the bun he was holding.

”Speak properly.” Yan Zhengya was a bit annoyed. In fact, as the only Demon Exterminator for the twenty or so villages and towns nearby, his business was pretty good. However, he often encountered bizarre customers who made strange requests, leaving him speechless and looking to the heavens. He now had a bad feeling about this.

”Ah, little Daoist, my master requests you to catch a Weasel Demon.” The person stood firmly in front of Yan Zhengya and said with a serious expression, ”The matter is very serious. This Weasel Demon is extremely vicious. Please, you must catch it.”

”Oh?” Yan Zhengya frowned, ”How vicious is it?”

”This vicious Weasel Demon came to steal my master’s wine. That’s one thing; but when my master entered the room, it farted in his face, making him vomit from the fumes. Master insists that you catch this Weasel Demon and make it smell its own fart—that’s the only way to revenge and cleanse the shame,” the person spoke with no trace of a joke, extremely solemn.

”Oh, goodbye.” Yan Zhengya felt a streak of exasperation on his forehead; his premonition was confirmed—he encountered another bizarre customer making a bizarre request. After saying this, Yan Zhengya turned and walked away.

”Master says: ten taels of silver!” a voice called out.

Yan Zhengya stopped, backed up, and stood in front of the person with a righteous expression: ”Exterminating demons is to uphold justice on behalf of heaven! It’s the duty of us Demon Exterminators! Let’s go; first, take me to the crime scene to investigate the demon aura, and I will personally capture this demon to give your master an explanation.”

”Alright, little Daoist, come with me quickly.” The person, replete with joy, warmly led the way ahead.

Ten taels of silver, wow! As Yan Zhengya walked, he calculated. The Daoist Temple’s Main Hall has a spot leaking rain and needs materials to repair it. Also, autumn is about to end; it’s time to buy winter clothes. The rice jar is almost empty; it’s time to buy rice. After buying all this, ten taels of silver should still leave more than half remaining.
