Medical Sage

It was clear from the arrogant, unrestrained laughter bursting from the other end of the phone that Young Master Yang Yuancheng could not wait any longer. The sound caused Chen Fei to frown slightly and prompted Yang Cailing to let out a small sigh. With a mix of guilt and helplessness, she brought up the topic once more. ”Sorry, Brother Fei, I think I should step out for a moment.” With that, she slowly turned and left.

”Cailing.” Seeing this, Huang Feng couldn’t help but call out, but he didn’t know what else to say, a conflicted, hesitant look in his eyes.

After all, it’s Brother Fei’s friends who are in trouble, and the other party is so outrageous! They flout the law, disregard all discipline, strong-arm people into deals, and use their status to oppress others... To put it bluntly, they’re nothing but scum, a cancer on society that should be locked up in jail! Moreover, with my current status, if I just had a bit more evidence, I’d be fully entitled and capable of taking action. But the problem is, the perpetrator is Yang Cailing’s brother. My girlfriend’s brother. He felt incredibly torn.

Chen Fei, understanding the situation, waved him off. ”Go on, be with your girlfriend. To be fair, she’s innocent in all this, just caught in a difficult spot.”

Huang Feng hesitated. ”But Brother Fei, what about you…”

The weight of Chen Fei’s status in his mind was the true source of his dilemma. After all, if his father found out he’d handled things poorly in front of Brother Fei, or worse, tried to dodge the responsibility, he’d be skinned alive!

”It’s fine, I have this under control,” Chen Fei said with a wave of his hand. ”Oh, right. Give me Director Zhu’s number. If something comes up, I’ll call him directly.”

”Oh, okay! I’ll send Uncle Zhu’s number to you right away,” Huang Feng quickly agreed, dropping his objections.

He had to admit, calling Director Zhu Qianye, the actual head of the Public Security Bureau, made a lot more sense than relying on him!

DING.

A text message notification sounded as Chen Fei received the number. Then, Huang Feng left as well.

After Yang Cailing and Huang Feng had both left, Zhang Long hesitated for a long while before cautiously bringing the subject up again. ”Afei, are you sure about this? Maybe we should just let it go? He’s the son of the head of the city’s Organization Department, after all. There’s no need to make such a big deal out of this,” he said, his face etched with worry.

As a businessman who grew up in that environment, he preferred to handle things peacefully, turning big problems into small ones and small ones into nothing at all. Besides, he hadn’t actually suffered any loss yet, right? Most importantly, there was the other party’s status to consider... He didn’t want to cause trouble, and he certainly didn’t want Chen Fei getting into serious trouble because of him.

In his view, Chen Fei was being far too impulsive. So what if he’d done well for himself these past few years? Could he really be more powerful than Young Master Yang’s father? That was absolutely impossible—something that could only happen in a dream!

However, he had no idea that his old high school friend had undergone a complete transformation and was no longer the person he once knew. To say nothing of his near-superhuman strength as an Innate Realm master, his position in the Flying Leopard division alone was significant. He held a rank equivalent to a department director, a station that demanded automatic deference from local officials. Surely that made him more powerful than Yang’s father.

Logically speaking, if Chen Fei truly took this matter seriously, even Huang Tao’s current status as the mayor of an Earth Level city wouldn’t necessarily be higher than his, which was quite telling.

Hearing this, Zhao Le hesitated, a pensive look on her pretty face, but she remained silent.

The initial thrill of seeing Chen Fei display such Divine Might—teaching Young Master Gou a lesson so thoroughly that the man couldn’t even speak and had to obediently accept his fate—had already faded. But now, as she wavered, she stole a glance at Chen Fei’s composed expression and then at Young Master Gou’s miserable one. A flicker of surprise gave way to a firm new resolve in her heart. She would trust in Chen Fei’s ability!

”Brother Fei... c-can I go now?” Young Master Gou suddenly stammered, his voice pitiful and trembling.

Clearly, with his connections and status, he could see the bigger picture. He was determined not to become collateral damage in a fight between titans. He had to leave now, before Young Master Yang arrived. Otherwise, it would truly be too late.

”Leave?” Chen Fei scoffed. ”Do you think I’d let you go? Just stay put and play along. If I’m in a good mood, I might even go easy on you. Otherwise...” He let out a cold chuckle.

Let him go? What a joke. Now that I’ve decided to make a move, there’s no way Young Master Gou is getting away. He may have just been an accomplice, but an accomplice is still complicit, aren’t they? He’s guilty and deserves what’s coming to him.

”Ah!”

Gou Qiang’s face fell. He looked utterly dejected, unable to believe Chen Fei still wasn’t letting him off the hook. A knot of resentment tightened in his stomach.

So what if Chen Fei has a terrifying background? My father is the head of the district Health Bureau! My future is bright. I just had a lit cigarette shoved in my mouth and I didn’t even flip out. I’ve been completely cooperative. Isn’t that enough? Shouldn’t that be enough?!

”What, you’re not convinced?” Chen Fei’s eyes glinted coldly as he stared at Gou Qiang. ”If you’re not convinced, you can try resisting later along with that other piece of trash. But let me be clear. If you choose to see the light now, you’ll get off with a light punishment to serve as a serious warning. But if you can’t figure things out by then... you’ll bear the consequences.”

Indeed, this Gou Qiang was just an errand boy, but he was still an accomplice. If he couldn’t stay calm and see reason, then that was his problem. In that case, sorry, but the only thing left to say is... you’ll bear the consequences.

”I... I understand...” Gou Qiang instinctively bristled with anger, but his defiance evaporated when he met Chen Fei’s icy gaze. A shiver of inexplicable fear ran down his spine. Remembering the attitudes of Yang Cailing and Huang Feng earlier... he finally seemed to make a decision.

A short while later, the door was pushed open. ”Hahaha, a wise man submits to the circumstances! Now, hurry up and sign that contract. This Young Master has other business to attend to...” a swaggering young man in his twenties, his face a mask of arrogant disdain, crowed as he strode in.

But halfway through his sentence, he suddenly sensed something was wrong and his voice trailed off. He saw Gou Qiang standing in a corner, head bowed, while another man in his twenties sat on the sofa, coolly scrutinizing him with a cold, stern gaze.

That man was, of course, Chen Fei. He watched the newcomer thoughtfully for a moment before speaking slowly. ”You must be Yang Yuancheng.”

”Who the hell are you to talk to me like that—”

But before he could finish, Chen Fei’s eyes turned to ice at the man’s arrogant self-reference. He moved like a phantom, grabbing the man’s slickly-styled hair and smashing his head against the nearby wall. BANG! A splash of crimson blood immediately stained the snow-white plaster.

Yang Yuancheng was utterly dumbfounded. ”You... you dare to hit someone...”

He can’t believe this guy actually hit him—him, Yang Yuancheng!

Chen Fei leaned in close to his ear, his voice a cold whisper. ”If you don’t clean up that mouth of yours, I’ll make sure you never get the chance to be hit again.”

Yang Yuancheng began to tremble violently. As his body shook, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Who exactly are you that you dare lay hands on me?”

”Who am I?” Chen Fei sneered. ”Don’t you know why you’re here tonight?”

”Tonight, I... could it be? Is this Green Bamboo Medicinal Cuisine House yours?” Yang Yuancheng asked in surprise.

”It’s not mine,” Chen Fei said with a faint smile, ”but the Green Bamboo Medicinal Cuisine House belongs to my friends. You come here, throwing your weight around and trying to force them into a sale. Don’t you think I should step in?”

”You... I...” Yang Yuancheng stammered for a moment before quickly changing his tune. ”Look, I didn’t know they had backing, alright? Now that I know, I’ll back off immediately. Let’s just drop this.”

His tone implied that if they didn’t have backing, his lawless behavior would have been perfectly acceptable. Of course, while he spoke of dropping the matter, the venomous anger in his eyes was impossible to hide, proving he had no intention of letting this slide so easily.

Let it go? What a joke! Who was he? He was Young Master Yang, Yang Yuancheng! His father was the director of the municipal Organization Department! Yet today, some random stranger had smashed his head against a wall. If he just let this go, how could he ever show his face in public again?

”So that’s your excuse?” Chen Fei said coldly. ”You think you can just say ’I didn’t know,’ and we’re supposed to forget that you threw your power around to intimidate my friends and forcibly buy their property?”

These rich brats really need to be taught a lesson. Otherwise, they’ll never understand what they did wrong. Was his mistake not knowing his victims had backing? Wasn’t the real mistake throwing his weight around, disregarding the law, and using his family’s influence to bully and coerce people? The social harm they cause is severe.

Seeing that Chen Fei wasn’t backing down, Yang Yuancheng couldn’t be bothered to keep acting submissive. He straightened his back and sneered, ”Or what? Do you really think I, Yang Yuancheng, am a pushover? Gou Qiang, didn’t you tell him who I am? Let me explain something to you. Otherwise, I’m afraid you really don’t know your place!”

I know that for you to stand up for those lowlifes, you must have some backing of your own. And I’m sure you already know that I’m the son of the city’s Organization Department director. However, do you really think that’s the full extent of my background? That that’s all I have to rely on? If so, you’re gravely mistaken!
