Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

Chapter 1393: Chapter 1392: That’s Quite a Mouthful

Among them, a slightly older worker couldn’t hold back. He slapped his leg and said, ”Alright, let me speak. We were hired as workers by the Wei Group to develop that plot of land in the suburbs. At the beginning of the year, we had already started our work.”

”But until now, there’s been no payment for our wages. The manager at Wei said it was all because the Feng Family is not selling the land, maliciously holding us up, leaving us with no choice but to come here to demand our money. We don’t mean anything else; we just want a way to make a living.”

”You’re all from big families and might not understand that we’re all from the countryside. We have to go back home to make a living, all have wives and children. Every child is a left-behind child, and it’s pitiful. Our families are waiting for that little money to go home and reunite for the New Year. So we want to beg your Feng Family to be kind and help us. Please negotiate with the Wei Group, and don’t make it difficult for us ordinary folks.”

These words were sincere and brought tears to the listeners’ eyes.

Gu Tong, standing on the table, nodded her head. She also sympathized deeply with the workers’ plight and said, ”So that’s how it is. You should have told the Feng Family earlier. We at the Feng Family are reasonable.”

There was a chance.

The worker seized the opportunity and said, ”We did talk, but your Feng Family’s young lady had a firm attitude and wasn’t prepared to negotiate with us at all. After going back and forth, we became impulsive...”

Gu Tong tapped the loudspeaker with one hand and laughed, ”It’s not that Miss Feng doesn’t want to negotiate, but it’s the Wei Family intentionally deceiving you, harming you. The Wei Family didn’t know how to handle the negotiations, couldn’t settle their own accounts, and blamed us for not selling the land. In this world, how is there such a reasoning?”

This...

They naturally knew...

But still held a sliver of hope, wanting to pressure the Feng Family a bit.

Gu Tong pierced through their thoughts and said, ”To put it bluntly, the Feng Family’s land is right there. We can’t possibly sell it. When the Wei Family started their project, they knew it. Since they started the project, they must have been ready with the funds. That’s inevitable. However, they were greedy and tried to swallow more land, causing you difficulties and not paying you, which has brought you to the Feng Family’s door.”

This is the truth.

It’s also the root of the matter.

No matter where you take it, it’s unreasonable.

The workers knew this logic too, but they were at their wit’s end and said, ”The Wei Family refuses to pay us, and we can’t just sit around and do nothing...”

Gu Tong raised an eyebrow and said, ”Moreover, the Feng Family and the Wei Family haven’t even signed a land sale contract. The Wei Family’s project has stopped and has nothing to do with the Feng Family. You causing trouble at the Feng Family is illegal, and no matter where you go in the world, it’s unreasonable.”

”If you want money, you should go cause a fuss at the Wei Group. Coming to the Feng Family is putting the cart before the horse. This borrowing a knife to kill tactic by them is truly well-played, wanting to force you to death, and also aiming to trouble us. But the Wei Family is mistaken. See, do I look like someone who’s afraid of the Wei Family?”

The workers exchanged glances, all somewhat moved.

They admitted Gu Tong was right, but Gao Haichuan had said too much, causing them to be hesitant.

Thinking to give it a try, they came here.

Gu Tong understood this mindset and said, ”I’m young, but there are some things I know more about, so I spoke a bit more. This piece of land has always belonged to the Feng Family. It’s the location of the Feng Family’s ancestral hall, and it’s been that way for a hundred years. When the land bureau restructured the plots, the Feng Family needed to repurchase it. The Wei Family surrounded our Feng Family land with layer upon layer, using development as a reason to try to compete with us. We at the Feng Family guard the ancestral hall and swear not to sell. Both sides are at a stalemate.”
