I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Lian looked at his armor one last time and finally, with a mental command, cut off the armor’s connection.

The silver lines on the plates turned off one after another and the quiet sound of the locks opening spread through the hall.

The chest plate opened slightly.

Then the shoulders, forearms, and leg guards separated from each other and the armor pieces moved away from his body in a controlled way.

He sent all of them directly into his own storage space.

Only when the last armor plate disappeared did something come to his mind that was necessary to complete the process of making his armor.

Money.

Lian had provided the body of the Unholy Rank World Devourer Giant himself, but even with the main material, turning that body into an Ancient Rank armor could not be cheap.

The extra materials and arrays that might have been used, and Magnus’s months of work and the equipment that had probably been used or even destroyed while working on such material.

”By the way, how much did the construction cost?”

”Already paid.” Magnus answered normally.

”Excuse me? The cost was paid? How?”

”As I said, the full cost was paid, and by the President.” The old man answered.

Lian frowned very slightly.

”I think I heard wrong, by whom?”

”The President.”

”...What?” Kain, who was standing beside the wall, stared at the old man with his mouth half open.

Lian was also silent for a moment, what surprised him was not that the President knew about the existence of the armor.

The head of the Blacksmith Association personally knew about this order.

An Ancient Rank armor made from the body of an Unholy Rank World Devourer Giant was also not something that could be made without attracting the attention of high-level people.

Besides, to make this armor, Magnus had to get a special hammer from the Blacksmith Association and this alone could attract that man’s attention.

It was natural for the information to eventually reach the government as well.

But why would the President personally pay for the cost of his armor?

He thought in silence for a few seconds.

Two possibilities came to his mind before the others.

First, Kael.

If the President knew about Kael and what had happened between them, this payment might have been a kind of reward or thanks.

But the second possibility was his own name.

Vorhelm.

As far as he knew, the President’s relationship with the Vorhelm family was not very good, if this matter was really related to his family, paying for his armor would be strange behavior.

But his own relationship with his family was not good either and someone like the President should know about this, so it was possible that he wanted to invest in him by doing this.

”Why?” In the end, it was better to ask.

”I don’t know either. I sent the bill, the President’s Office paid it and I got my money, if you want to know why, ask him yourself.” Magnus answered simply.

Lian stared blankly at the old man’s back for several seconds, the suggestion was very simple but there was one small problem.

How exactly was he supposed to randomly meet the President of the country?

Should he go in front of the President’s Office and say that he had come to ask about the money for his armor? Of course, maybe that would work too?

”Sure, next time I randomly see him on the street, I’ll ask him.” He finally said sarcastically.

Kain could not stop himself from laughing, but the old man did not care at all.

”Your problem.” He answered without mercy.

The young Vorhelm let out a short sigh, apparently he was not going to get any more help from this man.

A few minutes later, they returned to the main floor of Ironsoul.

The sound of hammers and the intense heat from the furnaces filled the area around them again and Magnus almost immediately walked toward his own table.

But before Lian and Kain could reach the door, the old man’s voice stopped them.

”Vorhelm.”

”Working with you was not bad, if you have another crazy order, you can come again.”

A small smile appeared on Lian’s face, coming from Magnus, this sentence was almost like a friendly invitation.

In any case, he did not refuse either because he might bother him more in the future.

Then he opened the door and left the blacksmith shop with Kain, the cool night air hit their faces almost immediately.

They had only walked a few steps when his friend turned his head toward him.

”You really have no idea why the President would pay for an Ancient Rank armor for you?” He asked with most of his surprise still remaining.

”No.” Lian answered simply.

”Not even a guess?”

”Maybe two, but I’m not sure.” But neither of them was strong enough for him to want to talk about them.

Kael.

The Vorhelm family.

Or maybe something that he knew nothing about.

”Until he says something himself, I doubt we’ll ever know why.”

”Then you have to talk to him.”

”Sure, just let me first take his personal number out of my pocket.” Lian gave him a short look.

Kain laughed.

That was the reality.

Even if the young Vorhelm wanted to know the reason for this, meeting the President was not something he could simply reserve time for tomorrow morning.

For now, this question had to wait.

The next task was much simpler, the National Awakened Center.

After his first evolution, Lian had to update his official status.

Less than an hour later, he and Kain were sitting in front of one of the counters in the status registration section.

The young woman behind the desk looked at Lian’s file.

”Current level?” She asked in a professional tone.

”Twenty-three.”

The woman nodded and this time, instead of directly registering the information, she took a transparent orb from under the desk.

Very thin blue lines moved inside the orb.

”Put your hand on the orb.”

”Last time I came to register, there was nothing like this.” Lian said with curiosity.

He remembered that the previous time, they had only asked for his level and had not made any attempt to confirm it, apparently they did not care.

At that time, he had not cared about it either.

”You were below level twenty at that time, right?”

”Level ten.”

”Then there was no need, before the first evolution, whether someone lies about their level is almost meaningless to us; you do not have a support payment, transfer priority, access to special areas, or rank benefits and only basic information is registered.” The woman moved the orb a little closer.

”After the first evolution, government and association benefits become active, so from this stage onward, the level must be confirmed.”

He was silent for a few moments, so they were not only lazy last time, there was also an economic reason for their laziness.

At least it was clear that the government was not willing to give free benefits to people without proof.

Lian placed his hand on the orb and blue light passed through his fingers for a few seconds.

[Level: 23]

[First Evolution: Completed]

The woman checked the information and completed the final confirmation.

With the registration of his first evolution, a set of new benefits became active for Lian;

Discounts on some government transfer portals, access to higher-level official missions at the Awakened Center, limited priority for buying some resources, the ability to use special training areas, and a reduction in part of the fee for selling monster loot.

Better medical services for injuries from the Ruined Realm, access to some closed auctions, and permission to enter hunting areas that were forbidden to Awakened before their first evolution were also part of the same benefits.

In simple terms, the benefits were pretty good.

”Would you like your class and class rank to also be registered in the public file?” The woman asked after completing the registration.

”No.”

The staff member nodded without asking any extra questions.

And with that, his status was also updated and the ID card he had received before was canceled and a new one was issued to him.

On their way out, they passed the association’s large buying and selling hall.

Rows of counters for selling monster materials, equipment, cores, and different resources were placed on both sides of the hall and many Awakened were busy making deals.

”Don’t you have anything to sell?” Kain looked at him.

Lian really thought about it for a moment.

He did.

There were still many bodies in his storage space, before returning, he had planned to sell at least some of them.

But now? He had several hundred million dollars in his account.

The cost of the armor, which he had expected to be his biggest expense, had also been completely paid.

So he had no immediate need for more money.

On the other hand, the Devourer Egg still needed a huge amount of energy and biological materials to fully develop and selling the bodies for money he did not need, when he could use them to make that creature be born faster, did not make much sense.

In any case, he would rather see what that creature that had been able to help him in the Ruined Realm would become when it was finally born.

For that reason, he shook his head and simply said that he had nothing to sell.

Of course, aside from the corpses, he also had some other things that could be sold.
