I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 421: World-Devourer Bastion ( GT Bonus Chapter )

Silence filled the room for a few moments, the armor in front of them was simply a complete masterpiece from an artistic point of view.

”Okay, I’m actually jealous now.” Kain said seriously.

The corner of Lian’s lips rose, even he could not take his eyes off the armor, nine months of waiting had been worth it.

Magnus stood beside the wall of the container and deactivated several symbols, the protective layers shut down one by one, and finally the transparent barrier disappeared.

At that moment, the System panel appeared in front of Lian.

[World-Devourer Bastion]

[Rank: Ancient]

His eyes stayed on the rank for a moment.

Ancient.

Above S Rank.

An equipment that even many powerful Awakeners could not own during their entire lives.

And this one belonged to him.

”Before you touch it, I’ll explain.” The old man warned him.

Lian stopped his hand, which had almost reached toward the armor.

”Most armor has a simple principle; be hard, take the hit, if the hit is stronger than what you can handle, break.” Magnus tapped the chest plate with his knuckle.

A deep sound came from inside the armor.

”This one doesn’t work like that.”

Another panel appeared.

[Mountain Frame — Passive]

”I took this structure from the body of that giant, when a hit lands on one point, the armor does not allow all the force to stay there. It spreads the pressure between the plates and transfers it through the internal structure to the rest of the body.”

He pointed from the chest toward the shoulder, side, and lower part of the armor.

”If the hit lands here, the shoulders, spine, sides, hips, and even the legs take part of the pressure.”

”So instead of one part being crushed, the whole armor takes the hit.” Kain kept his eyes on the armor.

”Exactly, to break one point, you have to break almost the entire fortress and I can guarantee that the resistance of this armor is strong enough that the whole thing will not collapse that easily.” Magnus nodded and looked at Lian.

Young Vorhelm gave a small smile, he liked this part, he really liked it, until now, his problem with armor was that they were destroyed too often, and if one part of them was destroyed, they became completely useless.

But it seemed this one did not have that problem.

The next panel appeared.

[Mountain Anchor — Active]

”This one was given to me by the giant’s own structure, when both of your feet are on a stable surface and you activate it, the armor locks the pressure of your body to the ground.”

”Your resistance against being pushed back, thrown, knocked down, and having your stance broken becomes several times stronger, and part of the force of the impact is also transferred directly to the surface under your feet.”

”Does it have any limitations?” Lian asked.

”It’s almost useless in the air, if the ground under your feet is destroyed, its effect becomes much weaker, and you also can’t fully use it while moving at high speed.”

He nodded, it was logical, the ability was powerful, but it was not without conditions.

[Giant’s Momentum — Passive]

This time Magnus gave a small smile.

”This one will probably be the most useful for you.”

”Why?”

”When you move directly forward, the structure of the armor focuses the mass and force of your body behind the point of impact, a direct punch, shoulder, full body collision, or landing from a height.”

Lian was already calculating a combination in his mind.

Iron Fortress Charge already increased the force of his body when charging.

Now Giant’s Momentum also focused the mass of the armor and the force of direct movement behind the same impact.

With the new structure of his body, the result could be really unpleasant ....for the enemy, of course.

”This is the last feature I expected.” Magnus said.

[Structural Memory — Passive]

The old man placed his hand on one of the forearm plates.

”If the plate bends, twists, or gets a surface crack, its structure returns to its original state.”

Lian asked:

”Does it repair itself?”

”Yes, of course it has some limitations too, but generally, it repairs itself using the owner’s mana.” He then continued in a more serious tone.

”But don’t think it’s immortal, if a piece is completely separated or destroyed, it cannot create new material from the air, but dealing a destructive amount of damage to this armor is not easy, this thing increases resistance and physical strength by at least 2500%, and it is also as tough as a mountain.”

Lian nodded, even that was incredible for armor that was probably going to receive the strongest attacks again and again.

But there was still one problem, and he looked at the old man.

”So, which part of these is the problem? The problem you messaged me about?”

”None of them.” Magnus became silent, his face returned to the same serious expression as before.

”The problem is that the armor I made...is no longer exactly the same armor I made.”

”What do you mean?” Kain also frowned, the sentence they had just heard made no sense at all, what did it even mean?

The old man did not answer and only placed his hand on the chest plate of the armor and sent a little mana into it.

Several silver lines on the surface of the armor lit up, and a new panel appeared in front of them.

But this one was different from the previous panels.

[Unknown Growth Trait detected.]

[Mountain Evolution]

[The armor remembers pressure.]

”A growth trait?” Lian stayed still for a few seconds.

”Exactly.” Magnus let out a heavy sigh.

[Mountain Evolution — Growth]

[Repeated survival against extreme physical pressure gradually reinforces the armor against similar structural forces.]

[Only significant physical and structural pressure can trigger adaptation.]

[Adaptation speed is dependent on intensity, frequency, and survival.]

[Each adaptation possesses a natural limit.]

[Current Adaptations: None.]

Lian’s eyes slowly narrowed, now he understood why Magnus had said ”There is a problem” in his message.

Not because the ability was bad, but because it was too good.

”Well... I don’t exactly understand why this is bad.” Kain read the text for a few seconds.

”Because I didn’t make it, and this part of the armor is not my work.” The old man looked at him with a deep frown.

”I checked all the materials, I did every step of the creation myself, the World Devourer Giant’s body spreads pressure, rejects changes in its shape, and has insane toughness.” He pointed at the panel with his finger.

”But it doesn’t learn from attacks, this should not be part of its structure.”

Lian looked at Mountain Evolution again.

”If this armor is repeatedly exposed to one type of extreme pressure and survives, its structure will slowly make itself better at handling that same type of pressure, I don’t know exactly how fast its adaptation is and you need to test it.”

”For example, if they attack it with fire again and again...” Kain said.

”Its structural resistance against fire will improve and it might even gain complete immunity.” Magnus finished his sentence.

”Claws?”

”If the claw power is strong enough to really put the armor under pressure, the force distribution structure will adapt itself to that type of attack.”

”And this is the bad part?” Kain looked at Lian.

”Idiot, the bad part is that I don’t know why this feature appeared.” Magnus immediately answered.

”I have three possibilities, first, the giant you brought was not a normal example of its species.”

”Second, one of the additional materials I used during the creation reacted with the giant’s tissue in an unexpected way.”

”And third?” Lian asked.

”The rank.”

”Normal equipment is nothing more than material and structure, the higher the rank of the materials becomes, the more their internal features show themselves.”

”High-rank equipment can have skills, S Rank equipment may have several very powerful skills or a special effect.”

Magnus looked at the armor again.

”But the materials used to make this thing are Unholy Rank... and they are extremely rare and unpredictable in their own way.”

”Besides, sometimes when equipment truly reaches the Ancient Rank, it gains something unexpected.”

”A unique feature.” Kain added quietly.

”Exactly, something that may never happen again, even if you bring me another Unholy Rank World Devourer Giant corpse tomorrow and I make it again using exactly the same materials, the same furnace, and the same method, there is no guarantee that Mountain Evolution will appear again.” The old man nodded.

Lian looked at the armor again. This was no longer just an Ancient Rank armor, it was a unique creation even among its own kind.

”If it were yours and you wanted to sell it, how much would it be worth?” Kain asked after a few seconds.

”If it were mine, I wouldn’t sell it.” Magnus answered without hesitation.

”I didn’t ask if you would sell it or not, I said if you wanted to sell it, how much would you sell it for?”

”And I answered, I wouldn’t sell it.”

Lian laughed.

”Hypothetically! Just give me a hypothetical price.” Kain raised his hand with a disappointed expression.

”It doesn’t have a fixed price.” The old man thought for a few seconds this time and then shook his head.

”An Ancient Rank armor is already rare enough, a full-body armor made from an Unholy Rank World Devourer Giant, and it also has a unique growth trait?”

He gave a smirk.

”This is no longer about the price, you have to see which of those crazy Level 100 Awakeners would be willing to give what to get it.”
