I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

the title itself was enough and when he brought the monster’s body to the academy to prove that he had killed it and then sold it, that was when the real noise started

The hunting report entered the news and social networks of the academy students.

Then his name moved higher in the student rankings and then, when he sold the body at the Awakeners Association store, even more attention was drawn to him.

And very soon Kain’s name went beyond the academy and students started calling him more simply, Kain the Lone Hunter.

”I don’t like that name, I feel like it doesn’t sound very impressive.” Kain said with a frown.

”I like it.” Lian laughed loudly.

”Because it’s not your name.”

”Exactly.”

The problem for Rodrick was that his plan had the opposite result.

His goal had been for Kain to slowly become weaker without a team, resources and social support, until he had no choice but to submit to him and beg for forgiveness.

But Kain had become stronger and worse than that, he had become famous.

There were five rankings in the academy and one of them was the ranking for students’ solo hunts.

And Kain was ranked first in it while Rodrick was lower in the same category.

That did not mean Kain was stronger than him but because Rodrick took part more often in group missions and large operations.

But Kain was better at solo hunting and people loved stories like this.

A student without the support of a great family, without a group, without unlimited resources who entered the Ruined Realm alone and hunted monsters much stronger than himself.

That was what made his name one of the main topics among the young generation of the capital.

”So that’s why you became famous.” Lian finally understood Aldric’s words, killing a Fallen Monster alone was a notable achievement.

He himself had almost done something similar, but he had not made it public and had also sold the monster’s body secretly.

Otherwise, what he had done would have caused a much bigger shock, along with disbelief.

”You finally understand what an important person you share a room with.” Kain raised his head proudly.

”But this important person still throws his dirty clothes on the chair.”

He unconsciously looked at the chair, his clothes were scattered around the room and

”Fame comes with many responsibilities, cleaning is not one of them.” He then said seriously.

Lian laughed, but his laughter disappeared very quickly, because one part of the story was still left.

”So they did this to you for nine months just because you defended me?” He asked quietly.

Kain immediately shook his head.

”Almost but not completely, that was only the beginning, after that I didn’t back down either, every time one of them came after me I answered, I beat several of them in duels and I also directly rejected Rodrick’s offer several times.”

”So I don’t want to tell it in a way that makes me sound like a helpless victim, I also helped continue the fight.”

”I understand.” The Young Vorhelm only looked at him for a few seconds.

His tone was calm, too calm and Kain, who had been his friend for years, noticed it almost immediately.

”Lian.”

”Hmm?”

”Don’t do anything.”

”I haven’t done anything yet.”

”Exactly that sentence worries me, he’s level 39 and you’re only level 23, I don’t want you to put yourself in danger.” Kain stared at his face for a few seconds.

”Don’t worry, I’m not stupid enough to face someone I can’t handle.” Lian answered honestly.

Kain became a little calmer, at least that answer was logical.

”But if he comes after me himself—”

”I knew there was going to be a ’but.’”

”I didn’t even say anything.”

”You don’t need to, your face finished the sentence.” And Kain became serious again.

”I’m not joking, Lian. Rodrick is not the same person he was nine months ago. He’s much stronger and it’s not only his family behind him; a large guild supports him and he also has many people among the students.”

Lian slowly nodded.

He was not going to go after him right now to teach him a lesson, at least not yet.

Level 39 was no joke, especially with a four-star class, the resources of a great family and one of the most powerful guilds in the country.

From the point of view of a normal person, the difference between Rodrick and level 23 Lian was almost ridiculous.

Sixteen levels.

But he did not feel any special worry because level was not the only thing that determined power.

Besides, he was not afraid of any great supporter, not when he had even dared to stand against the Vorhelms.

”You really didn’t get worried when you heard level 39?” Kain checked his reaction.

”Should I have?”

”At least you could have pretended.”

”I’ll practice pretending later.” A level 39 Awakener? In the Special Area he had seen a giant bird that was bigger than any building.

He had seen a disaster that could destroy worlds and had fought hundreds of Cindari alone.

”Anyway... the final exams should start soon, right?” He asked after a short pause.

”The day after tomorrow.” Kain nodded.

According to what both of them knew, parts of the exam included checking level and evolution status, measuring physical and mana power, solo fights, group competitions and the final ranking of the generation.

But nothing was certain.

”The teachers change some parts every year, half of the things they tell us might be rumors and on the exam day they might put something completely different in front of us.” Lian smirked.

No one could know what the real content of the final term exam would be until the last moment.

”Anyway, how was the midterm exam?”

”It wasn’t held because you guys were not here.” Kain laughed loudly, they were lucky enough that instead of wasting their time because of an exam, they could continue hunting in the Ruined Realm.

The Young Vorhelm gave him an empty look, the midterm exams were not very important so it did not matter.

But the final exams were important, at least for the other Awakeners who had big goals for their future.

The results of these exams would be sent to the Awakeners Association and the great guilds and based on them, they would recruit some of the top-ranked students and might also give them additional benefits.

Almost everyone he knew was going to be there.

Kain, Rodrick, Elena, Darren, Rindo, Selina, Liana, Seraphina, Cassian, Ethan and Marcus.

And probably many students who had become big names of their generation during these nine months.

The timing of his return was really interesting.

”You only have one problem.” Kain suddenly said.

”What?”

”Officially, your status has still not been updated, you were gone for nine months and to take part in the exam, you have to register your level and evolution status in the academy system again, the capital’s Awakeners Association also needs to receive your new information.”

Lian nodded and he knew about this, he had done these things before and knew the process.

Right at that moment, his phone, which was lying on the bed beside him, vibrated.

Both of them looked at the screen, a new message had arrived.

He picked up his phone and looked at it.

The sender was the blacksmith Ironsoul and when he saw it, his eyes became a little brighter.

The old man had replied faster than he expected, he opened the message.

”You can come in an hour.”

The corner of Lian’s lips rose, finally, after nine months, he could receive his Ancient Rank armor within an hour.

But almost immediately, a second message appeared.

”But there is a problem.”

His smile stopped a little and Kain, who was looking at his face, raised an eyebrow.

”What happened?”

Lian had not answered yet when the third message arrived and this time he stared at it for a few seconds.

”After the armor was completed, it gained a feature that it was not supposed to have.”

A short silence appeared in the room and he raised his eyebrows, a feature that it was not supposed to have? What did that even mean?

Lian did not take his eyes off the screen and then started typing.

”Is the feature good or bad?” and the message was sent.

Three seconds.

Five seconds.

The screen showed that the old man was typing and then the answer came.

”Well...”
