The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Furious Gu Chen

’Promote Lin Ruoxi to General Manager of the Huanyu Group?’

’With full authority over all the group’s affairs?’

This wasn’t just General Manager of the jewelry company—it was General Manager of the entire Group!

’That was an incredible amount of power!’

In that moment, Lin Xinghe and Hua Yao’s breathing grew heavy. They both turned to look at Lin Ruoxi, wondering what their daughter would choose.

To be honest, Lin Ruoxi coveted the position of General Manager of Huanyu Group, but there was no way she would marry a pervert!

”Uncle Mu, you watched me grow up. You should know my personality—I respond to kindness, not force. Grandfather pressuring me like this will only backfire! I’m already legally married. Even if he pushes me to my death, I can’t marry Gu Chen! That would be bigamy!”

As she spoke, Lin Ruoxi took out her marriage certificate and handed it to Mu Qingfeng.

Mu Qingfeng’s expression changed drastically the moment he saw the marriage certificate.

’Miss Ruoxi is already married?’

’What am I going to do?’

Mu Qingfeng immediately excused himself. He hurried out of the Yuanxi Auction House and dialed the old master’s phone number.

”Chairman, we have a huge problem!”

”Calm down and tell me.”

”Miss Ruoxi is already married! To a man named Cheng Yuan!”

”Cheng Yuan? There are no prominent Cheng families in the Provincial City. Is he from one of Luocheng’s Noble Families?”

”There are no prominent Cheng families in Luocheng, either.”

The other end of the line went silent for a long while.

Mu Qingfeng ventured, ”Chairman, since Miss Ruoxi is already married... should we continue to target her Yuanxi Auction House?”

”Hold on. I’m investigating this Cheng Yuan. I’ll get back to you when I have something.”

”Yes, sir.”

Ten minutes later, Lin Jianan used his connections to get information on Cheng Yuan. He was so furious he could barely breathe.

If Ruoxi had found a man from a Noble Family, Lin Jianan might have been willing to turn a blind eye. After all, there was a chance such a person could help the Huanyu Group overcome its current crisis.

But Ruoxi had gone and found an ex-convict!

What’s more, this ex-convict came from a perfectly ordinary family—one might even call it poor.

His mother was a housewife, and his father was a taxi driver.

’Isn’t this just utter nonsense?’

’Or... he was simply a shield!’

”Qingfeng, continue to pressure the Yuanxi Auction House. I’ve also sent you Cheng Yuan’s file. Forward it to Gu Chen immediately! Tell Gu Chen that as long as he doesn’t mind that Ruoxi has been married, and as long as he can make Cheng Yuan back off, he can still be the Lin Family’s son-in-law!”

”Yes, Chairman.”

Mu Qingfeng hung up with Lin Jianan and immediately dialed Gu Chen.

The call connected quickly, and a lazy voice came through, ”Assistant Mu, any news on Ruoxi?”

”Don’t worry, Young Master Gu. We’ve found Miss Ruoxi. She’s in Luocheng, but...”

”But what?”

”Miss Ruoxi already got married in Luocheng. A flash marriage to an ex-convict.”

”What? Ruoxi got married? To an ex-convict?”

Gu Chen’s voice shot up an octave, his face turning green with rage.

”Don’t get worked up, Young Master Gu. You know Miss Ruoxi. Her standards are so high, how could she possibly be interested in an ex-convict? The Chairman must have pushed her too hard, leaving her with no choice but to find a shield.”

’A shield?’

But even if he was just a shield, Gu Chen was furious. He was the Eldest Young Master of the Gu Family, the primary heir of the third generation!

There were enough women throwing themselves at him to form a reinforced battalion, if not an entire regiment!

Yet Lin Ruoxi, just to escape marriage to him, had a flash marriage with an ex-convict?

’In Lin Ruoxi’s eyes, was he, Eldest Young Master Gu, worth less than some ex-convict?’

”Send me that ex-convict’s information!”

”Of course.”

Gu Chen soon received the file. He stared coldly at Cheng Yuan’s photo. ’This ex-convict isn’t even ugly!’ He was in no way inferior to Gu Chen himself, a man famous throughout the Provincial City for his good looks.

Gu Chen immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Cheng Yuan’s number.

The call connected quickly. Cheng Yuan’s voice came through, ”Hello, Cheng Yuan speaking. Who is this?”

”You don’t need to know who I am. I’m ordering you to leave Ruoxi at once! She is my woman!”

Cheng Yuan paused for a moment before he realized who was on the other end.

”You must be Gu Chen. I don’t know what’s between you and Ruoxi, and I don’t care to know. All I know is that Ruoxi is my wife. I’m warning you: stop harassing her, or you will face the consequences.”

Gu Chen laughed in anger. Since the day he was born, he had been surrounded by people fawning over him. This was the first time anyone had ever dared to warn him!

”Ignorance is bliss, isn’t it, kid? You have no idea who you’ve just provoked. Believe it or not, I can make you disappear from the face of the earth with a single word.”

”I’d advise you not to do anything reckless. You’ll regret it for all eternity.”

With that, Cheng Yuan couldn’t be bothered to deal with Gu Chen any longer and hung up. He was already a Grandmaster. With a breathing method comparable to an Immortal Technique, he wouldn’t be at a disadvantage even against a Quasi-God.

And even if he couldn’t defeat a Divine Realm Grandmaster, escape would be no problem.

Unless he was up against an Innate Grandmaster.

But there were only a handful of such legendary experts in the entire Provincial City.

Gu Chen was just a junior. He couldn’t possibly mobilize an expert of that caliber.

Gu Chen was stunned. ’Did Cheng Yuan just hang up on him?’

’This was the first time anyone had ever dared to hang up on him!’

COURTING DEATH!!

Gu Chen was so furious he could feel smoke coming out of his ears.

Gu Chen dialed his assistant’s number and snarled through gritted teeth, ”Book me a high-speed rail ticket! I’m going to Luocheng!”

”Yes, Eldest Young Master.”

...

Cheng Yuan had no idea that Gu Chen was already on his way to Luocheng.

Of course, even if he had known, he wouldn’t have cared.

Cheng Yuan remembered Lin Ruoxi liked men who were clean and well-kept, so he went to a barbershop for a sharp haircut, then bought a set of crisp, casual clothes.

Once everything was ready, Cheng Yuan cooked a table full of food and waited quietly for Lin Ruoxi.

He waited until it was pitch-dark, when Lin Ruoxi and her family finally dragged their exhausted bodies back to Villa No. 13.

”Dad, Mom, Ruoxi, you’re back?”

Lin Ruoxi sighed without a word.

Lin Xinghe and Hua Yao forced themselves to rally. ”Xiaoyuan, you made dinner? You must have been waiting a long time.”

”Not long at all. Did work go well today?”

Lin Ruoxi shook her head gently. ”Not really.”

”What happened? Uncle Shen already put in a good word. Are they still giving you trouble with the paperwork?”

Lin Ruoxi shook her head again, taking out a bank card and holding it out to Cheng Yuan.

”It’s not the paperwork. Cheng Yuan, I’m so sorry. I don’t think we can open our auction house anymore. The roughly 1.5 million we invested upfront has all gone down the drain. But don’t worry, I’ll find a way to pay you back every cent.”

Cheng Yuan didn’t take the card. He smiled. ”Ruoxi, didn’t we already agree? You’re the one who manages our family’s money. If the auction company won’t work out, it won’t work out. It’s only 1.5 million. It’s just money. But you have to tell me what happened.”

The fact that Cheng Yuan showed no signs of blame warmed Lin Ruoxi’s heart. ’I didn’t misjudge him,’ she thought, her fondness for him deepening perceptibly.

”My grandfather somehow found out we started the Yuanxi Auction Company. To force me to come home, he had his assistant open another auction house right downstairs from us!”

Cheng Yuan wasn’t fazed in the slightest. ”Then we’ll just compete with them. What’s there to be afraid of?”

Lin Ruoxi gave a bitter smile. ”It’s not that simple. My grandfather holds a very high position in the Dongnan Province business world. No one dares to cross him. He just had to say the word, and the two antique appraisal masters we had just hired immediately jumped ship to the Huanya Auction House. On top of that, I’m guessing that when we hold our first auction, not a single wealthy person in all of Dongnan Province will dare to show up.”
