This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

Not long after, the attendant came back and said to Xia Zhen, ”Young Master, that person just went to the backyard and seems to be drunk and wants to rest.”

”You guys do this and that...” Xia Zhen lowered his voice to instruct a few words. ”Make sure not to leave any trace, give them a hard lesson.”

The attendant received the order and left.

After instructing the attendant, Xia Zhen thought of Zhou Wangshu losing face at Prime Minister Wang’s banquet, his eyes full of excitement.

Prime Minister Wang and National Guardian General do not get along, now that National Guardian General’s son-in-law suffers a big loss in Prime Minister Wang’s Mansion, it will only make the rivalry between these two giants more intense.

Xia Zhen was very satisfied with this plan of his.

The groom is a son-in-law, so it’s the bride’s family that welcomes the groom.

After the bride’s family welcomes the groom, the ceremony begins immediately.

Su Yaoguang had just arrived at Prime Minister Wang’s Mansion when several official family ladies surrounded her. During the ceremony she had tried to excuse herself but even going to the restroom, someone would accompany her. Now the official ceremony begins, people surround her from all sides, it’s not convenient to excuse herself now.

Xiao Yanci and Wang Ruyan held the red silk, under everyone’s witness, they began the marriage ceremony.

”First bow...”

”Wait a moment...” A voice with a crying tone sounded.

Everyone turned to look towards the doorway, only to see a more plump woman standing there, holding a child in her arms.

The woman was dressed in coarse cloth and hemp clothing, looking shabby, like a beggar who had traveled a long way. However, she was different from other beggars, even in such a sorry state, her face was still very clean, showing a pitiful look that seemed to speak volumes.

”Husband, I brought our son Cheng to see you. Are you trying to marry a new wife and abandon us?” Wen Family did not shout, sometimes silence speaks louder than words.

Her tears fell like pearls, dropping one by one onto the body of the child who seemed just over a year old.

The child held onto Wen Family’s neck, finding a comfortable spot to nestle, anxiously looking around.

”This is...”

”Isn’t this the widow lover from the play involving Xiao Tanhua?”

Xiao Yanci’s face was unsightly, he signaled to the servants beside him, ”Drive this mad woman away.”

”Husband...” Wen Family rushed over holding the child. ”Come take a look at your child, you haven’t seen him yet, have you?”

”I don’t know you,” Xiao Yanci said, ”Guards, take her away.”

”Wait a moment...” Su Rende in the crowd laughed and said, ”Minister Wen, don’t rush, and groom, don’t be too hasty. Who is this woman, we need to figure it out. Miss Wang shouldn’t end up becoming someone’s concubine without knowing.”

”Yes, the esteemed daughter of Prime Minister’s Mansion marrying a man with a wife, that’s a bit... Groom, speak up, you and Miss Wang are to marry today, where did this woman and her child come from? Could the child really be yours?”

Xiao Yanci signaled to Wen Family to leave now, indicating he would find her later.

But Wen Family did not move, she continued crying while holding the child.

”I come from a humble background, I can’t compete with Xiao Lang. It’s normal for you to choose a new bride. But the child is innocent, Xiao Lang, you must see the child.”

”Xiao Yanci, tell us, who is this woman, who is this child, what do you plan to do about this now?” Prime Minister Wang sharply looked at Xiao Yanci.

Xiao Yanci saw Wang Ruyan at the other end of the red silk speak up.

”Father, esteemed guests, I think I understand. Well then, if this is the husband’s child and concubine, let them stay in the mansion, allocate them a courtyard.”

”Yan’er, when did you endure such grievances? That woman doesn’t have a marriage certificate, she’s not qualified to become Xiao Yanci’s wife.”

Xiao Yanci chimed in, ”Father-in-law, Yan’er, this woman’s child is not mine. Although I’ve shared a master-servant relation with her, it’s solely master-servant.”

”Xiao Lang...”

”Wen Family, I don’t know how much benefit others promised you to come here and slander me. Regardless, I helped you once, you shouldn’t repay kindness with enmity. I’m getting married now, my wife and I are in love and harmony, I will absolutely not take a concubine.”

”This child is yours...”

”I never touched you, where’s the child from?”

”You...” Wen Family glared at Xiao Yanci, furious.

Only at this moment, did Wen Family realize the man she chose was such a hypocrite.
