This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

The news that Su Rende has recovered his memory spread, and the first thing he did was to acknowledge his wife and daughter, requesting a decree to confer the title of Madam on his first wife.

When the old eunuch from the palace went to Taoyao Square to read the decree, many outsiders were present, so the news about who Su Rende’s wife and daughter were spread like wildfire across the Capital City.

Originally, Taoyao Square was a cash cow for women, but now, men, women, the elderly, and children all came to join the fun.

Taoyao Square closed its doors and refused visitors.

Jia Chunni leaned against the door, looking outside through the crack, and said to Jiang Jing, ”What should we do? None of our mates dare to go outside, afraid of those people inquiring.”

”They’re just curious about Yaoguang and mom, once this novelty wears off, they won’t be as crazy as now.”

”Then why don’t you try going out?”

Jiang Jing shook her head like a rattle: ”No, I don’t want to.”

Noises came from outside, not only the sounds of the crowd discussing but also the sound of gongs and drums.

The two sisters exchanged a look and finally couldn’t resist opening the door. They walked to the doorway, stretched their necks to look, and saw a grand procession.

Su Rende rode on a tall horse, wearing red clothes; if you added a bridal sedan and bridal music, you would think he was coming for a wedding.

”Godfather, what are you doing?” Jiang Jing asked.

Su Rende got off his horse, smiling, and said, ”I’m here to take you to stay at the General Mansion!”

”Stepmom hasn’t agreed yet; why not wait for her to consider it?” Jiang Jing asked.

”Your stepmom and Yaoguang’s identities are already exposed. It’s not safe to stay here, after all, I have many enemies. I’ll go and talk to them now.”

Just as Su Rende was about to go in, he saw Zhang Zhaodi and Su Yaoguang come out from inside.

”Dad, no need to say more, we’ll go with you. But we won’t pack our luggage; whenever we want to stay a few days, we’ll come back.”

”Alright.” Su Rende reached out his hand, took Zhang Zhaodi with him out the door. ”Here’s the sedan I prepared. When I married you back then, everything was simple; now, let’s consider this a remarriage.”

Su Yaoguang: ”...”

She felt redundant; maybe she should stay behind?

”Yaoguang, I’ve already sent someone to notify Wang Shu. When he returns from the Ministry of Personnel, he’ll head directly to the General Mansion.” Su Rende said.

”Alright.”

Su Rende led Zhang Zhaodi into the sedan.

Amidst the crowd, people were discussing how fortunate the owner of Taoyao Square was to have a husband who turned out to be the National Guardian General.

”Folks, you only see her in glory, not when she was pulling her daughter up through thick and thin. I heard that...”

Su Rende was flamboyant, almost wanting the whole world to know he had found his wife and daughter.

With such fanfare, they returned to the General Mansion, and after this spectacle, even those with little access to news knew who the lady and the young miss of the National Guardian General Mansion were.

Xiao Yanci stood at the door, seeing off the craftsmen responsible for repairing the mansion. He was about to return indoors when he heard the celebratory music, thinking it was a wedding procession, he stopped to take a look.

When the drumming and gong-playing procession stopped at the National Guardian General Mansion’s gate, he found it even stranger.

Su Rende got off his horse, lifted the curtain, and led out the person inside the sedan.

When Zhang Zhaodi stepped out, Xiao Yanci’s eyes were full of shock.

He stared dumbfounded at Zhang Zhaodi and then Su Yaoguang, who came out of another sedan. His questions were answered, but the answer was not what he wanted to see.

Su Rende’s surname is Su, and Su Yaoguang’s as well, so Su Rende’s wife and daughter are Zhang Zhaodi and Su Yaoguang?

In a previous life, Su Yaoguang married him, but he rarely let her out, so she naturally didn’t have the opportunity to meet Su Rende, much less know he was her father.

As for Zhang Zhaodi, after he gained a title and a position, he didn’t stop his wife to remarry, yet didn’t want Zhang Zhaodi, the fierce mother-in-law, to come and ruin his affairs in the Capital City. Zhang Zhaodi wasn’t as easy to fool as Su Yaoguang; if she stepped into the Capital City and lived under the same roof, she’d likely find out about his dealings with Jiang Yihuan.

Incited by Jiang Yihuan, he had his men take care of Zhang Zhaodi on the road and covered it up as if she were killed by bandits.

If he hadn’t assassinated Zhang Zhaodi and let her come to the Capital City, she might have met Su Rende. Once Su Rende met her, he could have possibly recovered his memory, giving him the National Guardian General as his father-in-law.
