This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

Tang Pozi said mysteriously, ”I have another idea. If this doesn’t work, I’ll chop off my head and kick it like a ball.”

”Really? Tell me.” Pang Family looked at her expectantly.

Tang Pozi glanced around, leaned closer to Pang Family’s ear, and whispered a few words to her.

Upon hearing Tang Pozi’s words, Pang Family’s eyes lit up.

”This idea is good, much better than the previous lousy suggestion. Arrange it for me immediately, I want to accomplish this today.”

In the evening, Su Rende was handling official duties in his study.

Yang Qingyan came in carrying sweet soup and said to Su Rende, ”Godfather, I made this sweet soup myself, please try it.”

Faced with Yang Qingyan as a younger generation, Su Rende did not criticize.

”What have you been learning lately?” Su Rende asked.

Yang Qingyan replied sweetly, ”Qing Yan has been learning the zither from my music master. He says I’m making great progress!”

”Very good.” Su Rende nodded, picked up the sweet soup ready to drink, but put it down again after thinking of something, and continued to ask, ”Has Tang Pozi left?”

Yang Qingyan replied, ”Mother has already sent her away.”

”That’s good.” Su Rende picked up the sweet soup, stirred it, and said earnestly, ”Tang Pozi’s behavior is improper, it’s better to send her away sooner.”

Yang Qingyan saw Su Rende starting to preach again, her eyes filled with a look of disgust.

He wasn’t her real father, nor did he want to be her stepfather, just a godfather, always preaching. If he liked managing her so much, then give her a proper status so she can legitimately attend various noble ladies’ banquets, rather than being ridiculed in private for her unclear status.

”Godfather, it won’t taste good once it’s cold, drink it soon!” Yang Qingyan said.

Su Rende glanced at the teapot opposite and said, ”I don’t like sweets; pour me some tea. I’ll drink some tea after eating the sweet soup.”

”Alright.” Yang Qingyan quickly went over to pour tea.

She returned with tea to find Su Rende’s cup empty and him wiping the corners of his mouth.

”There are servants in the mansion; you don’t need to personally make sweet soup, and I don’t like sweet things. Don’t make it next time.” Su Rende said.

”Yes, godfather.” Yang Qingyan carefully observed Su Rende’s demeanor and saw that he still seemed energetic, doubt flickering in her eyes.

Su Rende pressed his head slightly, showing signs of dizziness, and said vaguely, ”My head is spinning; it seems I’m too tired and need rest.”

”Godfather, let me help you to bed to rest.”

”No need, leave.”

Yang Qingyan pursed her lips and walked out the door.

Who wants to serve such an old man?

Does he really think he’s her father?

Yang Qingyan walked out and said to the guards outside the door, ”My godfather said he’s tired and has gone to rest; you don’t need to guard here. You can retire early to rest.”

”Yes.”

Yang Qingyan left after giving instructions.

The guards went in to see Su Rende, confirmed he was lying down resting, and then retired to rest as well.

After the guards left, Pang Family sneaked into the study and approached Su Rende.

Standing by the bed, she looked at Su Rende and said, ”If you weren’t powerful and the Great General, who would want to seduce you? But you’re the only reachable man for me. As long as I become the General’s wife and give birth to a son, I’ll enjoy endless prosperity and wealth in this life. I want you to willingly marry me.”

Pang Family took out a box, opened it, and poured the insects inside onto Su Rende’s wrist.

However, before she could take the next step, the supposedly unconscious Su Rende opened his eyes swiftly, grabbed her wrist and poured the insects onto her hand.

”Ah...” Pang Family screamed.

The insects burrowed into her skin instantly, so quickly that there was no time to stop them.

”Weren’t you asleep?” Pang Family touched the bleeding hole on her wrist, her face showing fear.

”Asleep, or was I supposed to be drugged by you?” Su Rende said coldly, ”It seems this General has been too merciful.”

”General...” Pang Family knelt on the ground with a thud, kowtow to Su Rende, ”I beg you, General, spare me; I just love you too much.”

”This General’s ears aren’t deaf; I heard your words loud and clear. This General’s mind isn’t broken either; even the toes know your ambition.”

Su Rende got off the bed, opened the study door, and shouted outside, ”Come.”

The guards, who should have retired, rushed over and stood tidily in front of Su Rende, awaiting his orders.
