Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2862: Chapter 2798: Give Him an Award

Madam Cui patted the back of her hand.

She really hadn’t seen many children like Jiang Xiao who didn’t take credit.

”The Alliance Officials will come home for dinner tonight; you should stay. Last time, he said your chess skills were terrible and that he wanted to teach you properly.”

At this, Madam Cui couldn’t help but laugh.

Commander Cui used to have some opinions about Jiang Xiao, but now she thought he was quite fond of Jiang Xiao, often asking why she didn’t let Jiang Xiao come by more often to keep her company.

”Alright, dinner sounds good,” Jiang Xiao pulled a grim face, ”but playing chess, please no?”

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to learn; it was obviously that the Alliance Officials’ demands were too high. It was just a chess game, yet he had to combine it with military and strategic teachings, instructing her on military tactics as they played.

Things like troop deployment; she really wasn’t interested in those at all.

Not only was she not interested, she felt she wasn’t gifted in this area either.

So when she encountered problems or enemies, she wouldn’t think twice; she’d strike directly if she could, and retreat if she couldn’t. Where’s the strategy in that?

Whenever she moved her chess pieces recklessly, Commander Cui would scold her, calling her not only a Little Firecracker but also a locomotive!

What does it mean to be a locomotive?

Jiang Xiao protested strongly.

”What, did the Alliance Officials scold you again?” Madam Cui couldn’t help but laugh at her expression.

They played chess in the study, claiming not to disturb her.

”The Alliance Officials want me to become a female commander. Every time I make a move, he wants me to explain, asking the purpose of this move. But how would I know? If there’s a place to make a move, you just do it. What’s the purpose?”

Jiang Xiao said, pulling a grim face.

She hadn’t come across anyone like Commander Cui before; playing chess with him felt like taking an exam, so tiring.

Madam Cui couldn’t help but laugh at her words.

Just then, Commander Cui’s voice came from the doorway, ”What’s up, Little Firecracker? Are you badmouthing me again?”

Jiang Xiao instantly spoke with a bitter expression, ”Alliance Officials, I wouldn’t dare badmouth you. I was just saying you’re a chess master, praising you.”

”Alright, alright, I can tell whether your words are genuine or not just by looking at your expression,” Commander Cui grumbled, ”Let me share some good news with you.”

Upon hearing ’good news’, Jiang Xiao’s eyes immediately lit up.

Whenever there was good news from Commander Cui, it was surely about Meng Xinian.

So, hearing it was good news, Jiang Xiao immediately bounced over.

”Alliance Officials, after dinner, I’ll play three rounds with you!”

”Alright, you said it.” Commander Cui laughed and said, ”Let me tell you, that kid Meng Xinian did well again in Ke Ku Li, and this time it was a major achievement.”

”Ah? Really?” Jiang Xiao rejoiced instantly; she loved hearing about Meng Xinian’s achievements, as if they were her own, because she knew Meng Xinian would be in good spirits about it. As long as he was happy, Jiang Xiao would be happy too.

”Yes, this time he helped Ke Ku Li’s officials to reclaim a large batch of supplies. If that batch fell into the hands of the rebels, the consequences would be unimaginable. So Ke Ku Li’s officials specially called to inform that they want to award Meng Xinian with a Ke Ku Li medal.”
