Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2245: Chapter 2181: Is It Really That Exaggerated?

He had long thought about having Chiang Xiao come to Anbu Town to see him. There’s also been a problem these past couple of days — some family members have come over, and every time they see him, they think about introducing him to someone.

Because they’ve heard he’s not married yet, and they think he’s getting on in years, they assume it must be because he’s too picky, so they’re enthusiastically trying to set him up.

He’s really frustrated beyond measure.

Despite clearly telling them he already has a fiancée, they simply refuse to believe it.

Even Meng Xinian isn’t sure what kind of mischief he’s bumping into.

He even pulled Dai Gang as a witness, but those sisters-in-law stubbornly wouldn’t believe him.

The reason they insist on is quite something.

”Which girl would be willing to stay engaged to such a good-looking guy for so long and not get married? How old are you now? Isn’t she afraid you’ll be snatched away by another girl?”

This reason, he just couldn’t refute.

Dai Gang even tried to explain to them that the sister-in-law is still quite young and wants to wait a bit, but that backfired, and now those sisters-in-law are urging him to find someone else.

”The girl is young, meaning there’s too big an age gap between you two. Isn’t this just wasting each other’s time?”

”Exactly, you’re better off finding someone new. Otherwise, by the time she grows up, you’ll be old, and your kids will have to call your teammates’ kids, who are your same age, uncle!”

Whenever Meng Xinian recalls their words, he gets a headache.

Is it really that exaggerated?

If Dai Gang gets married now and has kids by the end of the year, and then I marry next year, the kids would only be a year apart, so why would they call each other uncle?

Moreover, Dai Gang isn’t even married yet.

But then, there are other teammates too.

Right now, some teammates’ kids are already three or four years old, and those who got married early even have kids who are seven or eight.

Thinking about this, Meng Xinian feels that those people are way too hasty. What’s the rush in getting married so early? Is there a problem with waiting a bit?

Anyway, although there’s training these couple of days, he’s just been feeling all sorts of frustrations.

Now he just hopes Chiang Xiao can come over to see him and at the same time shut those sisters-in-law up.

”So, when are you coming? You should make a trip over. I was thinking it’d be after we got married, but since the wedding hasn’t happened and who knows when it will, why don’t you come over first?”

Chiang Xiao realized he genuinely wanted her to come over, so she thought about it and said, ”How about I come over tomorrow? I can take a half-day off the day after because I only have one class.”

”Can’t you take a whole day off?”

”But Dad’s leaving soon, so how about I spend a couple more days with him at home, and then I’ll come over after he goes to the Jiang Family?” Chiang Xiao immediately reconsidered.

That gave Meng Xinian another headache.

But he knew Ah Liu was still at home, and Chiang Xiao likely wouldn’t leave while Ah Liu was about to leave the Capital and head to the Jiang Family. Waiting a few more days would work.

With that thought, he agreed.

”Okay, come over after Dad goes to the Jiang Family. I can also tidy up the dorm here a bit in the meantime. But,” he hesitated, lowering his voice, ”we still can’t stay together since we’re not married yet.”

That was truly frustrating for him.

If Chiang Xiao comes over, he’d have to borrow another dorm to stay in for the night and couldn’t sleep with her.

Chiang Xiao blushed. This guy, did he really have to say that?

”It’s just one night, why are you making it an issue?”
