Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1546: Chapter 1548: Blessings of Bodhisattva

He gave the address, hung up the phone, and exchanged a stunned look with Ge Liutao. Both of them had swollen red eyes from crying, and a dazed expression as if they were still trapped in a dreamlike haze.

After staring at each other for a while, Ge Liutao finally found her voice again, ”Uncle Hai, pinch me. Was it really our Zhuzhu who just called home?”

Chiang Songhai nodded vigorously and said, ”Yes! It was our Zhuzhu! She even said she’s coming back tomorrow! Ah Tao, you didn’t hear wrong—our daughter is coming home tomorrow!”

Ge Liutao’s tears immediately started streaming uncontrollably again, as she murmured, ”Bodhisattva bless us, Bodhisattva bless us.”

Indeed, isn’t it the Bodhisattva’s blessing?

Deep down, they had already assumed that Chiang Qingzhu was no longer alive.

But now, she’s alive, and she’s coming home tomorrow!

Both of them were overwhelmed with excitement for quite a while. Finally, after managing to calm down a little, Ge Liutao immediately said, ”I’ll go tidy up the guest room properly! I’ll strip the sheets and blankets to wash and air them again!”

”Then, then I’ll go water the flowers in the yard? Tomorrow, I’ll cut a few stems and find a vase to put them in. Our Little’s room always has flowers in it; Zhuzhu would probably like flowers too!”

”No, Uncle Hai, you should go buy some good glutinous rice flour and also some red fruits. Tomorrow I’ll make Zhuzhu a bowl of sweet egg dumpling soup. She’s coming home; she needs to eat something sweet!”

”Yes, yes! I’ll go right now.”

”Also, pick up a big fat chicken. We’ll keep it until tomorrow and slaughter it fresh to make Zhuzhu a pot of chicken soup.”

”Yes, yes!”

”Or, why don’t we prepare a batch of tea treats?” Ge Liutao continued, ”Zhuzhu definitely wouldn’t know that we’re doing much better financially now. Who knows how much hardship and how many grievances she’s endured all these years outside. Now that she’s back this time, we have to take good care of her and help her recover.”

Chiang Songhai nodded his head repeatedly, ”Our Little will surely be thrilled too; she finally has a mom now. I’ve always been worried that when Little gets married in the future, her family presence on her side would be too sparse, and neither her parents nor elders would be there—it wouldn’t look proper during the wedding ceremony. Besides, without a real mother around, there are some things that we couldn’t properly handle for her. But now, things will be much better; much better indeed.”

”Exactly, exactly.”

As Meng Xinian drove Chiang Xiao and Wang Yi back, the car had just stopped outside the main gate when the three got out and immediately saw the gate opening. Walking out was Chiang Songhai, his face lit up with joy.

Chiang Xiao paused for a moment, then grinned, ”Grandpa, you heard the sound of the car engine and guessed we were back? You even went out of your way to open the gate to greet me!”

”Lit... Little?” Chiang Songhai froze.

”Really, now? I thought I’d give you and Grandma a surprise, so I didn’t call in advance, but I didn’t think you’d figure it out.”

Chiang Xiao took Wang Yi’s hand and walked up to him, introducing him, ”Grandpa, let me introduce you—this is my close friend Wang Yi. I’ve mentioned her to you before.”

”Hello, Grandpa! You can just call me Little Yi,” Wang Yi greeted Chiang Songhai with a bow.

She felt that Chiang Xiao’s grandfather looked much younger and more vigorous than she’d imagined.

”Ah, Lit... Little Yi, hello. Come, come inside and sit!” Chiang Songhai was even happier in his heart. This couldn’t be a coincidence, could it? Was it because of the deep mother-daughter bond? Had Chiang Xiao somehow sensed her mom was coming back and decided to return home as well?

He patted Meng Xinian’s shoulder, ”Xinian, you’re here too. Come inside quickly.”

Things were bustling at home now.

”You all go inside first; I have to go buy a chicken and some glutinous rice flour.”

Chiang Xiao stopped him, ”Let me grab those when I take Wang Yi around for a walk later.”
