Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1501: Chapter 1503: What Thing

At this moment, she felt the urge to flee.

But the lure of riches was strong, and thinking of the house worth a hundred thousand, she found it hard to let go.

”That was all a misunderstanding, we have already cleared it up with dad, Deputy Head Meng,” Chen Kaijin mustered her courage and her voice cooled as she said: ”I heard that you helped my dad buy this house? In fact, with Chiang Xiao’s capability, he could have paid off the house long ago. I don’t know why you are still handling the affairs of this house. Look, I don’t want my elderly parents to still bear debts over this house. How much money is still owed on this house? Can you show me the contract so we can pay it off?”

Meng Xinian now clearly understood her intentions, and quickly deduced the information he wanted from her brief words.

Chiang Songhai was somewhat afraid to look at him.

It seems he still had messed things up, hadn’t he?

Meng Xinian suddenly curved his lips into a smile, but this smile was more spine-chilling than not smiling at all, making Chen Kaijin feel extremely terrified.

”I say,” Meng Xinian spoke lightly, ”What does this house matter have to do with you?”

”How does it not concern me? I am a member of the Chiang Family, it’s my father’s house, don’t I have the right to care?”

”Who told you this house belongs to grandfather?” Meng Xinian countered.

Thinking he was going to deny it, Chen Kaijin became anxious and quickly repeated what Chiang Songhai had said, rushing: ”Isn’t it said that once the money is paid off, the house would be transferred under my father’s name?”

Meng Xinian looked at Chiang Songhai.

He hadn’t been tricked into admitting it immediately, which actually surprised him a bit. For Chiang Songhai, this was quite an improvement.

But, relying on him to handle matters properly was still unlikely.

He wasn’t angry, just raised his eyebrows again and said, ”Grandfather, perhaps you didn’t explain things clearly?”

”Ah?”

”We had agreed earlier, it wasn’t just because there wasn’t enough money at the time, another reason was that Little was too young to have the house registered under her name. So we said we’d wait. I had already paid off the house long ago, now, the house is mine, I don’t need your money. When Little grows up, and I marry her, I will transfer the house under her name. Didn’t you explain clearly?”

Chiang Songhai breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Yes, yes, he only thought of shifting the blame to Meng Xinian, why didn’t he think of transferring the house directly to him?

”Exactly, my fault, I didn’t explain clearly, it wasn’t meant to be registered under my name but under Little’s name.”

Chen Kaijin immediately cried out, ”How can that be acceptable? My dad’s house, how can it be registered under Chiang Xiao’s name?”

In that case, would they still have a share?

Meng Xinian coldly said, ”Why can’t it be? I was the first to like this house. I persuaded grandfather and the others to come to the city. They had nowhere to live, so I bought a house for them to stay. Is there a problem? Who told you that the house belongs to grandfather? From beginning to end, this house is mine, the only thing is, I agreed to gift it to Little. By the way, who do you think you are? Do you have the right to meddle in my affairs?”

Saying this, he took a step forward and said, ”Don’t even talk about you having no right to meddle, you can’t even enter without my permission. Understand? Son-in-law? Aunt? What nonsense.”
