Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1520: Chapter 1522: Not Knowing the Daughter’s Name

Of course, she wanted to ask, after all these years, how they had managed to survive, how her parents and her family were doing.

Kuang Kanzhi thought of the recent news articles he had seen about Chiang Xiao, the reports of her winning first prize in a G Province art competition, the articles about her exhibition in Capital City, and the small joint exhibition she had with her teacher Liu Guoying, as well as the most recent one, about her being the top scorer in the G Province college entrance exam. He had also seen photos of the paintings she made.

”Really, she is quite impressive now. I’ve looked into her background, her academic performance is very strong, and her painting skills are exceptional too. Her paintings are quite popular now.”

”That’s really impressive,” Chiang Qingzhu couldn’t help but sigh softly.

Even now, she felt like she was walking on cotton, unable to believe that she had such an incredible daughter.

Kuang Kanzhi couldn’t help but ask: ”Ah Zhu, why haven’t you ever told me that you have another daughter?”

Chiang Qingzhu shivered involuntarily.

She was somewhat frightened by such questioning.

Seeing her fear, Kuang Kanzhi quickly softened his tone and coaxed: ”I’m not blaming you, I just find it a bit strange that you didn’t mention you had a daughter.”

Chiang Qingzhu timidly glanced at him and whispered, ”I, I was afraid.”

”Afraid of what?”

”Brother Kan, I was afraid that you would see me as a bad woman who abandoned her daughter, and also, I was afraid that you would want me to go back home to find my daughter. You know, I don’t dare to go back.”

Kuang Kanzhi sighed.

He recalled something else, ”Qingqing also mentioned Chiang Xiao’s name before. I’ve talked about her at home as well. Didn’t you realize?”

Indeed, he had mentioned Chiang Xiao more than once at home. How could Ah Zhu have had no reaction at all when she heard her daughter’s name?

Embarrassed by his words, Chiang Qingzhu hurriedly said: ”I didn’t know her name was Chiang Xiao. When I left she was only two years old, and she wasn’t registered for household identity yet. We just gave her a pet name, Little, because she was such a tiny little bundle when she was born.” She bit her lower lip, adding, ”I always thought her name was Chiang Xiaoxiao.”

So, when she heard the name Chiang Xiao, even though she felt it was somewhat familiar, she never associated this name with her daughter.

Moreover, she had always thought that her daughter would at most be in Peace Town and never leave the town.

Just as she was about to ask more, there was a knock at the door.

Chiang Qingzhu almost jumped up,

Kuang Kanzhi quickly tried to calm her: ”Don’t worry, it should be Chiang Xiao. You don’t need to be so nervous. After finally meeting your daughter, there should be a lot to talk about, right?”

”I, I don’t know what to say...” Chiang Qingzhu said softly.

The door gently opened, and Chiang Xiao walked in.

It’s quite tranquil here.

Seeing the two sitting together and leaving a spot opposite them for her, Chiang Xiao raised an eyebrow.

She was still unclear about what the relationship between Kuang Kanzhi and Chiang Qingzhu actually was.

Before knowing that this woman was Chiang Qingzhu, she always thought there must be something between these two, but now, after all, she is her own biological mother, she didn’t know if it was appropriate for her to judge like that anymore.

”Little, you, you’re here,” Chiang Qingzhu said with immense yearning upon seeing her face.

”Hmm,” Chiang Xiao wanted to say, isn’t that obvious?

”Take a seat, Chiang Xiao,” said Kuang Kanzhi.

Chiang Xiao sat down opposite them.

Kuang Kanzhi poured her a cup of tea and said to Chiang Xiao: ”It seems I should probably step out, but...”
