Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1436: Chapter 1438: Why Not Return

Kuang Yun Xian also smiled, ”Maybe so. My mother remarried early, and I don’t have much of an impression of her anymore. I’ve always seen my aunt as my real mother, and she’s treated me as her own.”

So, his gentle nature was thankfully attributed to Aunt Kong.

But the situation in the Kong Family was complex. Could it be that woman they were referring to?

Could that woman be the cause of all the chaos in the Kong Family?

”That woman, she said she was going to Capital City to find someone?”

”Mhm, but it’s been over a decade, and she still hasn’t found them.”

”Doesn’t she come back home?” Chiang Xiao found it very strange, ”Does she not have a home anymore?”

”I’m not sure about that. My aunt asked her, but every time Uncle would speak up for her, saying that it was her painful past, and told my aunt not to pressure her about it anymore. So, nobody asked her again.”

Hearing this, Chiang Xiao, for some reason, thought of her own mother, Chiang Qingzhu.

She had no idea whether Chiang Qingzhu was dead or alive. If she was still living, could she be like the woman in the Kong Family, not wanting to return home at all?

But how could that be possible?

The woman dealt with her painful past. Chiang Qingzhu did not. Her grandparents had pampered her from a young age, treating her like a precious gem. A girl from a mountain village who couldn’t do any chores, at seventeen or eighteen, hadn’t even a callus on her fingers, couldn’t even cook rice. Who else could it be but Chiang Qingzhu?

Even she used to help her grandfather dry herbs and such when she was a child, at least she knew how to cook.

But Chiang Qingzhu truly never had to lift a finger, it was said that she scarcely even swept the floor at home.

With such doting parents, yet she chose not to return home without being hurt, sick, amnesiac, or controlled by someone. That would truly be heartless.

”Xiao Chiang?” Seeing her in a daze, Kuang Yun Xian raised his voice slightly, ”What are you thinking about?”

Chiang Xiao candidly replied, ”I was thinking about my mother. After all these years, there’s still no news about her, her life or death is uncertain. I’m wondering if she could also be staying at someone else’s place for over a decade and not coming back?”

Kuang Yun Xian had never thought of this possibility.

Hearing her say this, he remembered the situation at Chiang Xiao’s home, and thinking of her background, he felt somewhat at a loss for words.

He had the urge to pat her head to comfort her, but thinking she might not need his comfort, he ultimately did not stretch out his hand, and just softly smiled and said, ”In the future, when you and Xinian start a small family together, live your life well. With Xinian looking after and pampering you, you don’t need to worry about anything else.”

Yes, having Xinian to protect her was enough.

Xinian was also very reliable.

Chiang Xiao nodded her head, ”Yes, truthfully, I really don’t mind whether I have parents or not.”

”Old Bai mentioned someone, have you gotten any news on your end?” Kuang Yun Xian had also visited her home during the New Year, and that was when he had heard about that person.

But it’s been a good half year since, and still, there was no news.

Chiang Xiao hummed in acknowledgment.

”Nothing.”

”I’ve also asked people to inquire about it, but we haven’t seen any progress yet.”

Back then, he had proactively offered to help, but there had been no leads in the circle of calligraphy.

”It’s okay, there’s no rush,” Chiang Xiao consoled him in return, ”After all these years, if she can be found, then let’s find her; if not, then let it be.”

As they chatted, they reached the bus stop, and Kuang Yun Xian led her onto the bus.
