Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1414: Chapter 1416: Chiang Xiao Stole the Money

She would probably eat at the canteen quite often in the future, so Chiang Xiao went ahead and bought a dinner card, charging it with a hundred bucks straight away.

The students nearby couldn’t help but take a glance at her.

Lee Mei patted Chiang Xiao on the shoulder. ”Rich girl.”

Chiang Xiao remained silent.

She just thought, charging more at once would be more convenient later on.

She hadn’t anticipated that for them, charging a hundred bucks at one go for meals already made her a rich person.

Ye Wanqing bit her lower lip.

She could tell that Chiang Xiao might come from a well-off family but didn’t realize she was that rich.

Lee Mei only charged thirty, while Xie Landi took out a stack of Mao notes, counted them for a long time, and charged ten Yuan, then walked away with her head lowered, clutching the dinner card.

Qin Xiaojun and Wang Lili each charged fifty Yuan.

When it came to Ye Wanqing’s turn, she felt her pocket and suddenly cried out.

”My money is gone!”

Everyone around turned to look at her.

Tears began to well up in Ye Wanqing’s eyes. ”Really, I originally had three hundred bucks in my pocket, but now there’s not a single cent left! Oh god, how could this happen? It’s not about the money, but after I arrived at school, I only went to the dormitory and then the canteen. Now the money is gone; it’s really frightening when you think about it.”

She was clutching the hem of her clothes, looking around somewhat helplessly and fearfully. ”What should I do?”

”The whole three hundred bucks are gone?” someone asked.

”Yes, it was the food and snack money my brother gave me, and I don’t know how it just disappeared.”

”You should search again carefully.”

”I, I only have this one pocket,” Ye Wanqing said, turning her pocket inside out with tears shining in her eyes.

”Could it have fallen out on the way to the canteen?”

”Maybe you dropped it in the dorm?”

”Yeah, why not go back and look for it?”

”I, I felt it just before I entered the canteen, it was there,” said Ye Wanqing in a pitiable voice.

At this moment, someone exclaimed, ”No way? Does that mean there’s a thief in the canteen?”

That sentence exploded in the air.

Who are the people in the canteen?

Teachers, students.

Could it be that the Art School has a thief?

Crying, Ye Wanqing said, ”I, I remember there was a marked banknote among my money; I saw the mark before and thought whoever did it must be bored, so I remembered it. It was a Fifty Yuan note.”

”But that doesn’t help us find it, does it? Now that you’ve mentioned it, who would dare to spend that fifty bucks here?” Qin Xiaojun said with a hint of speechlessness.

They hadn’t expected to come across such an incident on their very first day at school.

At that moment, the canteen auntie suddenly held up a Fifty Yuan banknote, ”Could it be this one? This Fifty Yuan note has a mark written on it.”

Everyone was astounded.

”No way? Is there really a thief who stole money and then spent it right away?”

”Who spent it?”

”Who?”

The auntie hesitated and glanced at Chiang Xiao, ”This note, was given by that student just now. The girl who charged a hundred bucks.”

Everyone’s eyes immediately turned towards Chiang Xiao.

”Her?”

”No way? She doesn’t look like someone who would steal money.”

”That’s right, that’s right, I refuse to believe it. Isn’t she a new student? Wow, she’s so pretty.”

”All of them are new students, right? They just came together, aren’t they from the same dormitory?”

”Oh? Same dormitory, doesn’t that provide the perfect opportunity to commit the crime?”

Qin Xiaojun and Wang Lili were stunned.

How did things turn out this way?

Chiang Xiao stealing money?
