Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1408: Chapter 1410: Roommates

Most people probably wouldn’t eat these.

But Xie Landi just eagerly watched Chiang Xiao.

Chiang Xiao walked over and said, ”I’m quite picky with food, I’ll just try one type.”

Her candidness, devoid of disdain, relieved Xie Landi, who nodded and said, ”Okay.”

Chiang Xiao then picked one of the fruit preserves, which seemed to have a layer of white, possibly frosting. These snacks were probably decent offerings from Xie Landi.

She took a piece, put it in her mouth, and found it sweet and sour, actually quite tasty without any off-flavors of spoilage.

”Pretty good,” she commented.

Xie Landi smiled and said, ”Then eat, eat, let me clean up a bit.”

Chiang Xiao took another piece and sat back on her bed, watching Xie Landi tidy up.

She couldn’t remember why Xie Landi had committed suicide back then.

At that time, her mind wasn’t on these roommates since they weren’t in the same class. They were all reassigned to dormitories because this was a new dormitory building of the art school, hence the reassignment.

Back then, Chiang Xiao was the only freshman in that dorm room, which also made her feel out of place and become more introverted, keeping to herself.

But in this life, she finally became classmates with them.

It was said that one early morning, Xie Landi was found dead in a corner of the third floor’s rooftop, her body already cold.

Since she didn’t die in this dorm room, Chiang Xiao and the others didn’t move out, but after that, no one dared to go up to the rooftop.

While Xie Landi was tidying up, two more classmates arrived.

Unlike Chiang Xiao and Xie Landi, these two came from well-to-do families and were locals of Capital City. They were high school classmates and had planned to come together, even brought by their parents in cars.

With these two families arriving, the dormitory suddenly became lively.

These two roommates, Chiang Xiao barely remembered them; she didn’t have much interaction with them before as they were her seniors, and only in this life did they become classmates in the same grade. So, they just briefly exchanged names and immediately started chatting.

These were Qin Xiaojun and Wang Lili.

Their fathers were waiting downstairs, while their mothers, who had accompanied them upstairs, chatted while making their beds and organizing their belongings.

Qin Xiaojun and Wang Lili ended up taking another bunk bed, one top, one bottom.

Both of their families were affluent, and both mothers were polite and mannerly.

”The dorm is a bit small, but it’s enough to live in. You’re here to study, not to enjoy. You have to get along well with your roommates in the future.”

”Mom, I know,” said Qin Xiaojun, who was very cute with shallow dimples on her face.

The other, Wang Lili, looked plain with black-rimmed glasses, giving her a quiet appearance.

”By the way, classmates, would you like to come out to eat with our Little Jun and Lili this weekend? We’ll treat, you’re not from Capital City, right?”

Qin Xiaojun’s mother looked towards Chiang Xiao.

Xie Landi also looked towards Chiang Xiao.

Unsure how to handle the situation, she instinctively wanted to follow Chiang Xiao’s lead.

Chiang Xiao shook her head and smiled, saying, ”Thank you, Auntie, it’s not necessary. Although I’m not from Capital City, I have relatives here, and we’ve already made plans to have a meal together.”

Xie Landi quickly added, ”Thank you, Auntie. I... I won’t go either. I have things to do over the weekend.”

Qin Xiaojun’s mother and Mother Wang exchanged glances, nodded, and replied, ”Well, okay, we’ll invite you some other time then.”

Qin Xiaojun pouted, saying, ”Mom, instead of treating us, why not give the money to me? Lili and I can invite them ourselves later. It’s no fun with adults around.”

”You’re thinking of ditching your mom already?”

At that moment, a soft and beautiful voice came from outside, ”Hello.”
