Chapter 183: Chapter 136: That’s right! He is the genius!_5

Chen Fenghua suddenly caught on and looked at Elder Chen with an expression of dawning realization.

Seeing that he finally understood, Elder Chen stroked his beard, nodded slightly, and with a faint smile on his face said, ”That’s right, that’s exactly what I mean. Hehe, it really is a surprise. I thought Rourou had quite a lot to say about young nephew Zhang and figured they were fated not to be together, but who would have expected... It really confirms the old saying, ’A spank is dear, and a scold is love.’ The more fond a couple is of each other, the more they seem to disdain each other!”

”Without a word, Rourou has subdued young nephew Zhang; this time she has really prepared a grand surprise for this old man.”

But in the next second, the faint smile vanished, and Elder Chen’s expression sobered as he looked at Chen Fenghua, ”But surprise aside, recklessly passing on our Chen Family’s secret to an outsider is a grave violation of our ancestral traditions, a serious matter that cannot be taken lightly! Fenghua, what do you think would be the best way to handle this?”

Looking at Elder Chen’s face, which fluctuated like the unpredictable weather in June, Chen Fenghua’s heart skipped a beat. He knew that if he didn’t propose a good solution, he, as Chen Rourou’s father, would undoubtedly be implicated. So, after some thought, he spoke up, ”Dad, I think for this matter, the best solution is to have Zhang Beixing marry into our family!”

After a moment’s reflection, Chen Fenghua stated his view.

Passing the Chen Family’s secret, the Northern Sect Eight Pieces of Brocade, to an outsider was an extremely serious matter. To put it mildly, it was merely martial arts techniques being leaked. But on a larger scale, it threatened to undermine the Chen Family’s century-old foundation.

The Chen Family had been a prominent Martial Arts Aristocratic Family for many years, standing firm and even establishing cooperation with the military. This standing was built on two pillars. Firstly, Elder Chen’s meritorious service during the war of resistance. Secondly, their exclusive ultimate skill, the Northern Sect Eight Pieces of Brocade, which could strengthen the body and was unique to their family.

Now, however, their family rules had been broken: Chen Rourou had taught the Northern Sect Eight Pieces of Brocade to an outsider. The repercussions of this were undoubtedly immense. Rules, once broken, lost their sanctity. An ultimate skill, once leaked, was no longer ’ultimate.’

Therefore, to prevent the Chen Family’s unique advantage from being lost, they had to handle this situation meticulously. Having Zhang Beixing marry into the family was clearly the best solution.

Hearing the solution Chen Fenghua provided, Elder Chen nodded and smiled again, stroking his beard. ”Good, that’s what I was thinking too! This time, young nephew Zhang must marry into our Chen Family. That’s why, in addition to calling Rourou over to discuss this matter today, I also called young nephew Zhang’s master, Liu Yi, to talk about it. I expect he will arrive soon!”

Having said this, Elder Chen picked up his teacup and took a light sip.

Thinking of how a martial arts prodigy like Zhang Beixing was about to marry into their Chen Family and become one of them, the smile on Elder Chen’s face grew even wider.

Oh, dear brother Liu, don’t blame your elder brother. It’s not that I, your brother, insist on poaching your disciple to become my son-in-law; rather, there is no choice! Young nephew Zhang has learned our Chen Family’s unique Northern Sect Eight Pieces of Brocade, so our Chen Family can’t just sit idle! When the truth comes out, don’t blame our Chen Family. If anyone is to blame, it’s the severe side effects of your Yue Family’s chain punches. They were so debilitating that young nephew Zhang had to learn our Northern Sect Eight Pieces of Brocade to protect himself. He’s only in his twenties; all he wants is to live a healthy life. What crime has he committed?

Elder Chen mused contentedly, delighted with the prospect of gaining such a good son-in-law. His mood was so good that even the bitter tea tasted sweet and delicious.

Sitting in the guest hall waiting, it wasn’t long before the sound of footsteps could be heard approaching from a distance.

Liu Yi’s figure then appeared as he stepped over the threshold and entered.

Upon seeing Elder Chen, Liu Yi first cupped his hands in a salute of respect before speaking, ”Elder Brother Chen, may I ask why you’ve urgently called me here today?”

”Ahaha, Brother Liu has arrived! Come, come, please have a seat, have some tea. This is some fine tea I recently acquired; give it a try.”

Elder Chen ignored Liu Yi’s question. He simply stood up, returned the courtesy to Liu Yi, and invited him to sit down.

Seeing Elder Chen act this way, Liu Yi, though puzzled, complied.

He watched as Elder Chen brewed a fresh pot of tea and poured him a cup, filling it to about seventy percent.

Liu Yi made a fist and lightly knocked on the table three times, indicating it was enough.

Once Elder Chen had returned to his seat, Liu Yi picked up his teacup and took a sip.

He grimaced slightly from the bitterness but forced himself to say, ”Good tea! Worthy of the tea Elder Brother Chen praised. The aftertaste is sweet, and the aroma pure!”

”Hahaha, if Brother Liu says it’s good, then why not take some home to savor at your leisure?” Elder Chen took a sip of his tea and chuckled lightly.

Upon hearing this, Liu Yi promptly shook his head. ”I appreciate your generosity, Elder Brother Chen, but this tea is your find, and it wouldn’t be quite right for me to take some. Speaking of which, Elder Brother Chen, did you call me here today just to drink tea?”
