Chapter 161: Chapter 132: Bizarre Death, Even Movies Wouldn’t Dare to Film It

The emergency doctor was utterly confused. But at this moment, no matter how baffled he was, there was nothing he could do, because in just that short span of time, Superintendent Bai and Li Shuo had already jogged down to the hospital entrance, jumped into a police car, and left.

Through the stairwell window, he watched their car drive away into the distance.

Scratching his head, the emergency doctor muttered something about how strange it was, then turned back to the room and instructed the other doctors and nurses to transport the traffickers’ bodies to the Shishi Police Department.

「Ten or so minutes later, at the Shishi Police Department」

The car pulled into the courtyard, and Superintendent Bai and Li Shuo got out. Seeing them return, the other superintendents at the department, who had already heard about the case, came over to congratulate Superintendent Bai on cracking such a major case. Superintendent Bai exchanged pleasantries with them.

He was about to take Li Shuo to the evidence storage vault when he received word that his superiors, having heard of his return, had sent someone to summon him to a meeting. Although the human trafficker case was resolved, the follow-up still required discussion. Moreover, the main contributor to solving this case wasn’t even from their police department; it was the concerned citizen, Zhang Beixing. They needed to discuss how to proceed. After all, in all the years since the Shishi Police Department’s establishment, this was the first time an ordinary citizen had single-handedly solved such a major case. It was, to say the least, preposterous!

Therefore, even though Superintendent Bai was eager to check the surveillance footage, he had no choice but to take Li Shuo to the conference room for the meeting.

「Meanwhile, during their meeting」

「Shishi Police Department, Autopsy Division」

”Strange!” a voice exclaimed from within. ”How could this be?”

「Forensic Examination Center」

The seasoned medical examiner, having just removed his stifling, blood-stained white rubber gloves, stared at the dissected body before him. His brow furrowed so deeply it seemed he could crush a fly between his wrinkles.

Standing beside him, his assistant—also his apprentice—looked at the corpse on the table. Despite his experience, he couldn’t help but lean over the trash bin and vomit violently. Only when his stomach was completely empty and he was about to bring up bile did he lift his pale face. Wiping his mouth with a tissue, he asked the senior medical examiner, his voice laced with lingering fear, ”Master, what happened here? How did this person’s organs end up like this?”

Hearing his question, the old medical examiner simply shook his head, indicating he also couldn’t understand.

He’d been in the profession for many years and had dissected countless bodies. He thought he had seen almost every bizarre cause of death imaginable. He had believed there was no manner of death in this world he hadn’t encountered. But the appearance of this corpse was like a harsh slap in the face, a stark reminder that the methods of death were constantly innovating. There were only things he couldn’t imagine, not things that couldn’t be done!

Apart from dislocated hand bones and a shattered sternum, there seemed to be no other abnormalities on this corpse. Yet, perplexingly, when he cut it open and exposed the internal organs, he found them damaged! Although the damage wasn’t extensive, it was certainly fatal. A little probing revealed that beneath the major organs lay fragments of the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys, mixed with blood and other bodily fluids into a jumbled, viscous mass, much like a thick stew! It was so grotesque that if the renowned Chef Niu Dao were here, he’d probably swing his arm dramatically, give a thumbs-up, and declare, ’Guess what? This stew here is the real deal!’

”Why did it turn out like this?” the puzzled medical examiner muttered. ”Given their external injuries, their internal state shouldn’t be like this at all!”

He couldn’t make sense of it. This was completely unscientific!

Subsequently, he dissected the other bodies. He found their causes of death were largely similar to the first: no fatal wounds on the surface, but upon opening the abdomen and examining the organs, some had Shattered viscera, resembling porcelain with fine, intricate cracks, as if meticulously scored by a small knife; others had organs that had engorged and ruptured.

Only four individuals had nothing unusual in their abdomens; instead, they had suffered severe head trauma. Three of them had brains that were effectively liquefied, resembling a bowl of soft tofu pudding. The man with the inverted triangular eyes, however, had a different condition: his brain hadn’t scattered, but the brain matter and blood had been thoroughly churned together, looking at first glance like strawberry pudding.

”I’m never eating stew, soft tofu pudding, or strawberry pudding again as long as I live!” his assistant exclaimed with a grimace, looking at the state of the lead trafficker’s head. Today’s autopsies had clearly left an indelible psychological scar on him.

The senior medical examiner ignored him. He took a few photos with his phone, walked over to a nearby computer, printed the pictures, and then began to write furiously, filling out the autopsy reports for the traffickers.

In a short time, the reports were complete. After reviewing them once to ensure their accuracy, the senior medical examiner took the documents to find Superintendent Bai.

「Meanwhile, as the medical examiner made his way to Superintendent Bai」

「Evidence Vault」

Superintendent Bai and Li Shuo, having finished their meeting, had come here at the earliest opportunity. They found many officers gathered around the laptops retrieved from the traffickers’ wooden cabin, examining transaction records and addresses on the screens, diligently recording and cross-referencing information.
