Extraordinary Realm from Persuasion System

Chapter 77: Chapter 75: Fighting from North to South

It seems I worried too much. You little rascal, you’re not nervous at all! You’re even in the mood to brag here! Liu Yi’s emotions were a mix of feelings. He looked at Zhang Beixing with a complex gaze, wondering how he had ended up with such a disciple. Not only is he shameless, but he loves to boast. If you get exposed, where will I, the 13th-generation successor of Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing, hide my face!

As for Elder Chen, his emotions were even more complex. They were just having a nice chat, and now the youngster wasn’t playing by the rules. You just started learning less than a month ago; how can you shamelessly claim to have made ’some minor progress’?

Helplessly, Elder Chen could only guide him patiently, ”Young friend Zhang, since you are Liu Yi’s disciple, you must study diligently under him! My dear friend Liu Yi—we have a friendship that transcends age—I might not dare to boast about his other aspects, but in Martial Arts, he truly is top-notch!”

”Even if you only manage to learn seventy to eighty percent from him, it would be enough for you to make a name for yourself and become a prominent figure in China’s Northern Sect Martial Arts community!”

Damn, that impressive?! Hearing Elder Chen’s words, Zhang Beixing was shocked. He turned to look at Liu Yi, clearly not expecting this portly, amiable middle-aged man to possess such incredible strength! Just mastering seventy to eighty percent of his skills would be enough for me to make a name for myself in China’s Northern Sect of Martial Arts. This... damn... Considering my current ’Integration’ level, plus my foundational stance work which should be fairly decent, does that count as learning thirty or forty percent? Can I even hold my ground in this circle?

Zhang Beixing had thought he was already overestimating Teacher Liu’s strength, but now it seemed he had still underestimated him by quite a lot. Thinking about it, it makes sense. Liu Yi is on brotherly terms with Elder Chen, a highly respected man who has fought on battlefields and killed enemies. Even if Liu Yi weren’t that strong, how weak could he possibly be? At least in this circle, his seniority must be quite high. This master I acknowledged was definitely worth it!

He then grew curious about what exactly Liu Yi had done to earn such high praise from Elder Chen. After a moment’s thought, he cupped his fists, looked respectfully at Teacher Liu, and then asked Elder Chen, ”Elder Chen, if mastering just seventy to eighty percent of my master’s strength can lead to such achievements, may I ask, sir, how strong was my master in his prime?”

”How strong? Hehe... you’ve asked a good question, young man. Hasn’t your Master Liu told you?” Elder Chen stroked his beard, asking with a smile.

Hearing this, Zhang Beixing’s mouth twitched. He instinctively wanted to retort, Isn’t that obvious? If Teacher Liu had told me, would I be sitting here asking you? But after some thought, he decided against saying it. It’s not that I’m scared. It’s mainly because I sense that Elder Chen’s words have a hidden meaning!

Zhang Beixing recalled his conversation with Elder Chen since they had met. He realized that ever since Elder Chen learned he was Teacher Liu’s disciple, he had been intentionally steering the conversation towards Teacher Liu. Only just now had Elder Chen revealed his true purpose: to tell Zhang Beixing that his master, Liu Yi, was once very mysterious and formidable! This was to elevate Liu Yi’s image in Zhang Beixing’s mind, to let Zhang Beixing know that learning from Liu Yi was absolutely the right decision! As for why Elder Chen would go to such lengths, Zhang Beixing believed it was likely related to the Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing that Liu Yi practiced.

After all, training in Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing is incredibly damaging to the body and agonizingly painful. It was only because I, Zhang Beixing, initially knew nothing and was exceptionally determined that I managed to train Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing to the ’Integration’ level. Otherwise, anyone else, unless burdened by a deep-seated vengeance or a compelling mission, truly wouldn’t be able to endure it. People initially practice Martial Arts to strengthen their bodies, improve their health, and live longer. But after you’re done training in Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing, your body might be stronger, but you’ve also developed hidden ailments and shortened your lifespan. Who in their right mind would want to continue training in that? They’d have packed their bags and run off long ago!

No wonder there’s a saying, ’The older, the wiser.’ Given Elder Chen’s current performance, he must have at least eight hundred schemes in mind; I wouldn’t believe it if he had even one less! Watching Elder Chen, who sat in the main seat looking at him with a smile, Zhang Beixing sincerely thought this.

Then, after a moment’s thought, he realized he truly didn’t know about Teacher Liu’s past. So, he put on an ignorant expression and said, ”Replying to Elder Chen, my respected master has never mentioned this to me. May I ask, Elder Chen, how strong was my master back then?”

Seeing him act this way, Elder Chen subtly glanced at Liu Yi beside him. Noticing no reaction from Liu Yi, he took a sip of tea to moisten his throat and then said, ”Your master, Liu Yi, is a truly rare prodigy.”

”Born in Capital City in 1980, he began reading Martial Arts scriptures at the age of five, committing all that theoretical knowledge to heart. At seven, he started stance training to solidify his foundational skills. At ten, he encountered his family’s traditional Martial Art, Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing. At such a young age, it took him merely three years to master Yue Family’s Continuous Boxing to the ’Integration’ level. He then spent another five years refining his understanding. At eighteen, he voluntarily renounced his status as heir to the martial arts school, packed his bag, and journeyed alone across the land, from south to north.”

”This journey lasted five years. During this time, he encountered martial artists from all walks of life, befriending them through Martial Arts, winning far more often than he lost. Finally, through countless battles, he achieved a breakthrough. The following year, at the age of twenty-four, he grasped ’Hidden Force.’ This made him one of the youngest Martial Arts Masters in China’s modern Martial Arts world!”
