174: Chapter 174 Unexpected SituationAlthough Fu Hao was eager to test the Subspace skill, he decided to handle the backlog of matters first.

”Xiaojin, let’s go.”

”Roar!”

After returning to the ground, Fu Hao ordered Xiaojin to fly towards the Elf Kingdom. In the past, Xiaojin would always put up a show of resistance, but now it was clearly in high spirits, skipping even the feigned protest.

Even though it could soar freely after reaching adulthood, Xiaojin had previously been confined to the summoning circle most of the time due to the frequent use of the teleportation gem. Now that it could gallop through the sky to its heart’s content, it was so excited that its wing beats were exceptionally wide, and its golden scales shimmered even more dazzlingly in the sunlight.

”Xiaojin, stop.”

Not long after taking off, Fu Hao had Xiaojin, who was flying at full speed, come to a halt—it was time to pick up Yongyuan. Xiaojin landed slowly. In the forest in the distance, Yongyuan was waving, a relaxed smile on his face. The forest necklace had already been obtained; now, only the final step of bringing him back to the Elf Kingdom remained.

With Xiaojin present, the elves’ hostility was nothing to fear, but calming the World Tree could not be solved by force alone.

To the elves, the World Tree was comparable to a god—just as humans revered the Loto Tribe, who protected them and granted them Holy Power, as gods, the elves regarded the World Tree, which bestowed upon them elemental power, as an existence transcending their race.

Although they had not established a religion or set up fixed worship rituals, their faith in the World Tree was deeper than the humans’ devotion to their gods.

If only a few elves had firm faith, Fu Hao might have been able to force his way through with brute force or +10 items, but every single elf revered the World Tree without exception. This forced him to rely on Yongyuan’s assistance—after all, in this world, the only elf who did not worship the World Tree was the player Yongyuan, who had reincarnated as an elf.

’Fortunately, the forest necklace was successfully recovered.’ Fu Hao breathed a sigh of relief inwardly, his fingertips unconsciously rubbing his cuffs. The forest necklace was one of the core items for summoning the World Tree, and the necklace in this world had to be found anew—in The Original World, the necklace had already dissipated along with the summoning of the World Tree.

The process of finding the necklace had been quite a headache for Fu Hao. In The Original World, the necklace was held by Alan, one of the leaders of the Five Great Guilds who had once firmly held second place on the combat power rankings, but the method she used to obtain it remained a mystery.

In the early days of the otherworld’s launch, there was absolutely no clue as to the necklace’s whereabouts, making it the most mysterious hidden item. Fu Hao had even struggled with whether or not to use Margo’s Blessing to strengthen a Creation-grade detector; after all, finding an item with no clues within a limited time with a seven-person team was an almost impossible task.

But his worries were completely unnecessary—as a player who had promoted to Elf King, Yongyuan had precisely locked onto the necklace’s location: the royal treasury of the Boer Kingdom.

The royal treasury, which was difficult for even hidden Thief-class professionals to infiltrate, was a piece of cake for Yongyuan. He could use elemental spirits, invisible to ordinary people, to retrieve items remotely. Of course, this ability was limited to retrieving items that the Elf race had legitimate ownership of, and the forest necklace happened to meet the criteria.

”Fu Hao, I knew you could do it.” When Yongyuan stepped onto Xiaojin’s back, his tone was full of certainty.

”Less chatter, get up here. You’ve confirmed that the remaining summoning materials can be collected, right?” Fu Hao patted Xiaojin’s neck and urged him.

”You can rest assured. But the World Tree... where do you intend to use it?”

”You’ll know in due time. Xiaojin, let’s go!”

Everything was going more smoothly than planned. The burden of saving the world on his shoulders had lightened by more than half. Fu Hao let Xiaojin’s high-speed flight kick up a sharp whistling sound in the air, the wind filling his clothes, bringing a long-lost sense of ease.

He could feel that, including himself, the seven players who had transmigrated to this world were all achieving their goals step by step, or steadily advancing their plans.

However, in a corner that the players had not noticed, an accident was quietly brewing.

——————

”The dimensional gate... it actually opened?”

Patem, who had not shown any emotional fluctuations for hundreds of thousands of years, was staring intensely at the scene before him, his face filled with disbelief.

His withered fingers trembled uncontrollably—that was the dimensional gate he had pursued his entire life, appearing out of thin air without any warning.

With Patem’s power, if he sacrificed his life force, he could also create a dimensional gate to travel to a new realm, but what he wanted was the gate leading to the Loto Tribe’s territory, the key that would allow him to exterminate the Loto Tribe. Yet, the appearance of this gate had nothing to do with his will.

’If the dimensional gate is so easy to open, what was the point of my hundreds of thousands of years of struggle?’ Absurdity and resentment churned within him, but he quickly calmed down—this gate did not lead to the Loto Tribe’s territory.

”Humans... how could they possess the Creation Authority? And that is... an elf?”

There were seven people who passed through the dimensional gate, six humans and one elf. The relationship between humans and elves had always been tense; due to the history of humans once enslaving elves, the elves’ hatred for humans had never truly dissipated, and it was certainly not something that could be resolved by a mere peace treaty.

But what shocked Patem was not that they were traveling together in harmony, but that two different races had actually passed through the same dimensional gate simultaneously.

Even if a new creator was born and opened a dimensional gate, only the single race to which the creator belonged could pass through.

Although the rules were not absolute—for example, if humans accumulated enough Loto Tribe traits, they could theoretically enter their territory—but two races crossing through at the same time? This was completely beyond Patem’s hundreds of thousands of years of understanding. He did not know that this was an anomaly triggered by the game system granting the Creation Authority to the players.

But soon, a discovery that shocked him even more overshadowed this astonishment:

”My authority... how could it be on a human? And a human who passed through the dimensional gate at that?”

Although Patem had once reached the Creator realm, in order to maintain his remaining life, he had forcibly sealed most of his power and physical body. Now, he could only observe the Demon World affected by magic and the Transfer Demon King who had infiltrated the human world from the deepest part of hell.

He was able to perceive this dimensional gate in the center of the human world solely because the humans behind the gate possessed the familiar fluctuations of authority—that was the authority exclusive to Demon Kings, which could only be bestowed by him, and there was more than one type.

”My unique authority is actually on a human who passed through the dimensional gate?”

An ordinary person would have already fallen into chaos, but hundreds of thousands of years of time allowed Patem to quickly regain his composure. He stared at that fluctuation of authority: ”Is this... a fake world?”

Denying himself, denying everything around him. Although this thought was absurd, it was the only rational explanation—his own authority appearing on a human from another world was ironclad proof. He immediately released the perception connected to the Envy Demon King to verify his conjecture:

Memory erasure magic did exist, and he had used similar methods to survive the long years; perhaps he had once bestowed authority upon a human and then forgotten it.

But two of the same Demon King authorities could not exist simultaneously; this was a truth that required no memory to verify. Yet now, the human who passed through the dimensional gate possessed the Envy authority, while the Envy Demon King himself was still living well in the Demon World—the coexistence of two Envy authorities was a paradox in itself.

”A paradox cannot exist, so there must be two worlds.” Patem muttered to himself, his eyes gradually sharpening, ”The Original World must be on the other side of the dimensional gate.”

Even if this was a fake world, everything that constituted the world still existed in reality. The humans and the elf had traveled here, surely to seize something from this world, so he could also follow the same path to leave.

”Hehehe, things are about to get interesting.”

While the players were immersed in collecting hidden items, deep in the abyss of the Demon World, a new threat was quietly awakening, its gaze piercing through the dimensional barrier, locking onto that gate leading to The Original World.
