169: Chapter 169 Vampire +10Despite some minor flaws, after obtaining the long-dreamed-of free usage rights for Skill Enhancement, Fu Hao immediately began testing Skill Enhancement.

Categorized by how they are obtained, skills can be divided into four types:

- Skills obtained through job advancement;

- Skills learned directly through other means outside of job advancement;

- Skills obtained through achievements and titles;

- Finally, skills attached to items.

All skills of the Enhancement Master profession are of unknown grade, and even if only enhanced to level 1, it costs 500 Jing crystals.

For Fu Hao, who possesses 1 Yang crystals, 500 Jing is not a burden, but the thought of spending an astronomical number of crystals for a test still made him hesitate—500 Jing is equivalent to several times the total amount he has squandered to date.

”Forget it, there’s no way to cash it out anyway.”

Fu Hao closed his eyes and decided to start testing from the Enhancement Master profession skills, of course, limited to level 1.

[Cannot select ”Skill Enhancement” as an enhancement target.]

”This trick really doesn’t work.”

”Skill Enhancement” is the Enhancement Master skill he will use most frequently in the future, and it is also the skill most in need of improvement due to consumption issues. He originally wanted to enhance it first, but found that the skill cannot enhance itself.

”It would be cheating if it could actually be enhanced... No, wait, it’s already cheating enough as it is.”

Having long anticipated that the skill could not self-enhance, Fu Hao was not disappointed and turned to look for other targets: ”Summon Enhancement, Attribute Enhancement, Characteristic Enhancement, Accessory Enhancement...” He browsed the Enhancement Master skills again and finally chose ”Summon Enhancement,” which he uses the most and has the greatest potential for the future.

[”Summon Enhancement” skill level 1 enhancement successful.]

[Consumed 500 Jing crystals.]

Fortunately, there was no ”Cannot be enhanced” prompt, and the enhancement was completed smoothly. However, like equipment and Summoned Beast enhancement, the effect at level 1 was very weak: ”No special effects added, just reduced material consumption?”

After confirming that profession skills could be enhanced normally, he continued to test other types of skills:

[”Powerful Slash” skill level 1 enhancement successful.]

[”Magic Order” skill level 1 enhancement successful.]

[”Strongest 1 Second” skill level 1 enhancement successful.]

[Cannot select ”Subspace” as an enhancement target.]

Test results: Outside of profession skills, skills obtained directly in the form of ”skills” (regardless of how they were obtained) can be enhanced; skills obtained through titles (such as ”Strongest 1 Second”) can also be enhanced; but skills attached to items (such as ”Subspace”) cannot be enhanced.

”I should have learned the Emperor’s Subspace skill earlier.”

”Subspace” is the skill whose enhancement effects he was most looking forward to. Now that the enhancement was blocked, Fu Hao regretted it deeply.

But the ”Teaching of the Strong” skill is limited to once per NPC, and he had already learned ”Magic Order” from Emperor Endel, so he couldn’t learn other skills.

Of course, there is a way to learn Subspace magic without using ”Teaching of the Strong”—according to Emperor Endel, change to the hidden Magic Swordsman profession and level up slowly, but Magic Swordsman takes up two job slots, so he could only think about it.

”Wait, maybe the Emperor’s soul was also copied over?”

Fu Hao suddenly thought that there might be another Emperor’s soul in the Inner World. He could use ”Teaching of the Strong” to learn Subspace magic from the Emperor of the Inner World, and then upgrade it using Skill Enhancement—the plan sounded completely feasible.

”Although it’s hard to accept related quests from the First Prince like last time, it’s fine without accepting quests.”

The quest given by the First Prince was just to find clues to Emperor Endel’s mausoleum, and Fu Hao already knew the location of the mausoleum, so the clues were useless.

”Having two identical Emperor souls is really interesting.”

He added ”farming the Emperor’s soul” to his schedule—the temptation of a level 10 Subspace, no, a level 11 Subspace, made him unable to give up. Even if it just expanded the capacity after enhancement, it was worth a try.

”Phew... Let’s finish what needs to be done first.”

Having stayed up for two consecutive days live-streaming the enhancements, sleepiness washed over him, but Fu Hao forced himself to take the next step. Since the possibility of enhancing various types of skills had been confirmed, it was time to look at the effects of level 10 skills.

Unlike equipment enhancement, Skill Enhancement cannot change effects; it can only continue to use the special effects attached initially. Fu Hao only hoped that ”even if the basic effect increase is low, the special effect should be decent.”

”Let’s save the main course for last.”

He had always liked to save the best for last.

”But I can’t enhance a trash skill either...”

Although he intended to enhance every skill that could be enhanced, Fu Hao felt that the first level 10 skill should have some style.

Like Summoned Beasts, skill level is very important—like the ”Black Wolf” common skill, even if enhanced to level 10, it would certainly be mediocre.

He repeatedly scrolled through his skill bar filled with skills, and finally chose a skill that he didn’t think was very useful usually, but was of Legendary grade.

Type: Passive

Grade: Legendary

Lv.51

* When attacking an enemy, recover 0.1025% of damage as HP and MP (5.125% against human-type enemies).

This is a skill he got from his first Legendary-grade dungeon. As a passive skill, he forgot about it after learning it, but its level rose to 51 without him realizing, though the effect increase brought by the level increase was minimal.

”Only now do I realize that with the Vampirism skill, I don’t even need to drink mana potions.”

The HP recovery didn’t feel very obvious, but the mana recovery was indeed useful—of course, this was because his damage far exceeded the skill consumption. If it were an ordinary player, they probably wouldn’t feel the effect at all. Except for special situations where resources are limited, this skill, bearing the ”Legendary” title, was really a bit undeserving of the name.

”Fortunately, it can’t be traded, otherwise I would have sold it long ago. But it’s considered fate, so I’ll enhance you first.”

It was at least Legendary grade, and Fu Hao felt it had the possibility of being reborn. And the facts soon proved his thoughts.

[”Vampirism” skill level 1 enhancement successful.]

[”Vampirism” skill level 2 enhancement successful.]

...

[”Vampirism” skill level 10 enhancement successful.]

[Equipment, accessories, Summoned Beasts, and skills have all been enhanced to the current limit. Due to the Enhancement Limit Break skill effect, the maximum enhancement level has been increased from level 10 to level 11.]

Fu Hao enhanced the Vampirism skill to level 10 in one breath. Seeing the ”Enhancement Limit Break” prompt, he stopped to check the level 10 effect:

Type: Passive

Grade: Legendary

Lv.51

* When attacking an enemy, recover 0.3075% of damage as HP and MP (15.375% against human-type enemies).

* HP and MP recovery +30%

* HP and MP recovery +30%

* HP and MP recovery +30%

* When killing an enemy, randomly obtain one skill possessed by the enemy.

”The recovery efficiency is about 6 times the original... Hmm? Can obtain skills?”

Fu Hao, who was calculating the recovery efficiency, widened his eyes upon seeing the level 10 effect. The effect description didn’t state a probability; it looked like killing an enemy would guarantee obtaining a skill—although random, the advantage of ”guaranteed to obtain one of the enemy’s skills” was enough to cover up all shortcomings.

More importantly, there was no cooldown.

Fu Hao’s ”Teaching of the Strong” skill not only requires grinding NPC favorability but also waiting for a one-week cooldown. But the ”Vampirism” skill gives a skill for every monster killed, so the efficiency is incomparable. And there was no restriction on the target in the description; it looked like he could not only learn human skills but also monster skills.

”This is the effect at level 10, then at level 11...”

After reaching level 10 with the Vampirism skill, level 11 was already unlocked. Fu Hao was immersed in the joy of ”as if he possessed the whole world,” full of expectations for the level 11 effect, but he didn’t expect that there would always be ”scares” after ”surprises.”

The road to level 11 was indeed opened, but the destination was still far away.

[Cannot continue to enhance ”Vampirism (+10)” skill.]

[Additional conditions must be met to enhance with the enhancement level extended by the ”Enhancement Limit Break” skill.]

[”Skill Enhancement Level 11” quest obtained.]

Fu Hao tried to enhance the level 10 Vampirism skill, but a prompt saying it could not be enhanced popped up, and a new quest appeared at the same time:

Difficulty: Immeasurable

Quest Completion Conditions

* Skill Enhancement count 10,000 times

* Enhance all skills of all levels to level 10

Quest Rewards

* Unlock Skill Enhancement level 11

”...”

This quest was simply like deliberately making things difficult, and Fu Hao was speechless for a moment.

Taking a step back, 10,000 enhancements was fine—by infinitely farming skills with the Vampirism skill, reaching the count was just a matter of time. But ”enhancing all skills to level 10” was impossible no matter how he thought about it.

”I knew there would be a problem if things went too smoothly.”

Fu Hao felt the hope for level 11 that had just ignited dim again, so he had to turn to other skills.

Anyway, level 11 was hopeless for the time being, so he would enhance other skills to level 10 first—the main course hadn’t been touched yet, and his expectations were still very high.
