Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 32: Chapter 31:Meeting Cara(2)

For a moment everything seemed to stop..

The world vanished..

The air stilled...

Then she appeared...

”...Dante”

”Cara....”

”What happened to you?” She asked, her shocked eyes scanning my new look with awe painted clearly on her face...

”I look good, I know. Feel free to drink it all up” I said cockily.

Arms spread in a narcissistic display...

”Humph.. what’s that dumb look for? Whoever said you looked good?” She snorted, turning away..

”Oof, you wound me..” I placed a hand over my heart in mock hurt..

”Pftt..” she was almost laughing before she caught herself..

I’d thought I was over her...

I’d thought my novel knowledge would make it easy to forget whatever this body had with her before I took over. But no.

Finally WHOLE, those feelings seemed to have only been pushed back forcefully..

But seeing her here, right now, blue hair swaying softly in the night wind, blue eyes radiating that regal elegance I knew her for, her picturesque beauty and figure..

The sound of her voice, that teasing playful edge, her laughter that seemed to light up my world..

Those feelings threatened to resurface..

Until her tone shifted...

It felt like she finally realized she was acting out of character...

Her eyes turned cold, her expression turned blank..

”Was that how you thought this meeting would go?” Her voice was empty, emotionless..

”Huh..?” I was caught off guard..

”Ohhh~~ Dante, be for real. You thought we’d meet again and all of a sudden I’d be all over you because you got a new look? Is that why you followed me here? Pathetic..”

”What are you talking about?”.. I was confused, genuinely so, one moment peace. The next, THIS?

”Oohhh Dante, I missed you, let’s runaway.. is that what you were expecting? For me to entertain trash like you? Ridiculous..”

At this point my expression had gone blank, all feelings withdrawn.

The warmth that was about to bleed out of me settling into a frozen chill..

She noticed the change immediately..

I caught the look in her eyes, the subtle shifts, almost like she was avoiding my gaze.

The clench of her fists, the way she bit her lips.

This wasn’t the Cara I knew, MY Cara was unfazed before anything.

Once again the feeling I had during that awakening ceremony returned..

”Something is definitely wrong”..

”You look good..” I struggled to say, trying to ignore her biting words. Constantly reminding myself of what the system said..

”Flattery won’t get you anywhere with me, Trash!” But the words that came out her mouth were harsh, degrading, insulting even.

Yet the way her fists clenched tighter, her lips bitten harder, the soft trembling of her body, telltale signs that she was hurting, told me there was more to this situation than I was thinking..

”What’re you hiding from me little snow?” I wasn’t about to play these games..

My system said her affection was at a whopping 99%, and right now she wasn’t acting like the proud, unyielding and mischievous young woman I knew her to be, so I asked outright, determined to clear this up..

”Don’t call me that!!!” She yelled at me..

”I’m not your little snow!” she said, trying to sound calm yet failing miserably, the tremors in her voice said otherwise..

”This isn’t you Cara, this isn’t the Cara I know, not the Cara I.... The Cara I loved...” I said slowly, dragging the words from somewhere I’d thought left forgotten after my awakening..

I could see her body tremble violently from those words and then..

”THE CARA YOU KNEW WAS A FRAUD!!!” She screamed, drawing the attention of the surrounding crowds..

”Now tell me what it is you’re doing here or get out of my way and let me pass...Trash!” She spat, finally regaining control of her emotions, eyes cold yet never looking straight at me..

”Sigh..you know you can trust me little snow, no matter what’s tr....”

I couldn’t finish my sentence..

”Well.. well..well.. if it isn’t the E-rank trash, what? Come to beg for crumbs from MY woman?”..

That voice..

I’d recognize it anywhere..

After all, I’d place it far beneath me for 4 years Straight but unfortunately now it’s gotten it’s tone back..

I turned slowly, eyes devoid of emotions as I regarded Micheal Solaris..

”Who the fuck are you?” I could see the shock and horror within his eyes as he stared at the 7ft5 piece of perfection before him..

”Why of course it’s the trash.. you’ve been making fun of all this while” I grinned. A sharp predatory expression gracing my face..

He took half a step back before his expression changed, it seems he’d realized just what talent and bloodline he held..

But I could see it, the fear and terror within that half a step back.

It seems the shadow I casted on him in those 4 years were something even an SS-rank talent and bloodline couldn’t erase fully...

”Trash. You dare speak to me like this!!?” He snarled, rage and embarrassment mixing into one tone..

”Heh, I’m not the one scared of trash. So tell me, if I’m trash, then what does that make you who’s scared of trash?” I asked..

”Pffft... you take yourself too seriously Dante. Micheal was just having fun with you” one of the two boys flanking him spoke up.

”And who the fuck are you?”

”You piece of___”

”Enough..” Micheal cut him off..

His gaze returned to me, a sinister smile curled his lips as he walked towards me..

Bypassing me and coming to stand beside Cara, his hand going to wrap around her waist as he stared me down.

”Now tell me, trash, what do you want with MY woman” he sneered..

My eyes turned cold, old Dante almost bleeding through.

”You will get your hands off her or I’ll make sure you never use them again” The wind stilled at my rage, the surrounding crowd finding breathing difficult as responded instinctively to my rage..

I could see the ghost of a beautiful smile on Cara’s lips or maybe I’d just imagined it in my rage, cause I was ready to murder someone..

Micheal felt it, the very atmosphere seemingly turning hostile. He was shocked for a moment before a reddish light covered his body, the temperature rising around him as his hands released their grip..

”You really don’t understand the situation you’re in, do you?” he said to me..

Walking towards me slowly as the temperature soared to unbearable heights..

”I dare you to repeat what you just said..”

Our auras collided..

The space groaned like a fabric stretched too thin...

clashing violently with whatever he was doing..

Opposing forces vying for dominance..

But...

I could feel my control of the atmosphere slipping, whatever he was doing, was rendering my ability ineffective..

My eyes flashed red..

Our gazes met, and before I could unleash my full force..

”Enough!” A cold voice sounded out.

Breaking up our confrontation..

”Dante, leave. I don’t want to see you again” Cara’s cold voice brought be back from my rage..

”Snow.....” an ice pike had already appeared before my face..

The temperature around me dropping to below freezing degrees...

”I won’t repeat myself... Trash has no business around me..” her tone was cold. Final.

”You were useful once. That’s all you ever were..”

Any hesitation I’d sensed from her earlier gone like a mirage...

I held her gaze a moment longer, searching.. yet her eyes remained steady..

”If that’s the role you’ve chosen, then I’ll play mine”..

I turned, my words held as I resumed my trek towards my initial destination...

********

As she watched him walk away, eyes cold and expression blank..

Cara’s heart clenched within her..

”I’m so sorry D..”

Pain flashed within her eyes, white-hot. Only to be gone the next moment as she regarded Micheal who had lost his voice earlier...

”That was the second time” her voice came out authoritative, calm and regal..

”It was the only way to make sure he stays away..” Micheal replied.

Gone was the arrogance expected of a SS- rank bloodline and talent wielder, his voice was subdued. Almost subservient...

”I don’t care what act we’re putting on or what decision we’re making, but the next time you dare to put your filthy hands on me, then mark my words..” she spoke up, cold eyes boring holes through him..

”Even if I have to ruin myself, I will make sure you never make use of them again..” her verdict was final..

”You threaten me because of him? You know the consequences....”

”Consequences be damned..” she didn’t let him finish..

”And this has nothing to do with him. Touch me one more time and you’ll have your answer.. am I clear?” She demanded..

.....

....

”Am. I. Fucking. Clear?” Her voice came out slow, threatening..

”.....yes, my lady...” Micheal replied through gritted teeth..

”Humph...” she turned around..

”TRASH...” she spat as she passed by him...

”I just hope you can learn to forgive me someday D.....”
