Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

Amiditch seemed to see what was on his mind. He cleared his throat and continued,

”Later, I’ll send you a list. The people on it are all Shadow members active in the Cordo Sea Region. You...”

”Wait. Are you referring to all the Shadows in the Cordo Sea Region?”

Wei’en looked at the werewolf department chief in surprise. ’In such a vast sea region, there must be a lot of Shadow members, right?’

Besides, he’d said before that he didn’t want to serve as a Liaison Officer for any specific region. ’Isn’t this arrangement, in effect, already saddling me with the duties of one?’

”No, not all of them. You’ll only have five permanent team members. The others are Shadows you can contact and mobilize. I’ll note all the specifics on the list.”

Amiditch thought for a moment, then his expression became a mixture of amusement and exasperation. ”I know you don’t want to be a Liaison Officer, so I won’t be assigning you any specific missions.”

’Who would have thought someone would actually turn their nose up at the position of Liaison Officer in the intelligence department... In the right hands, that position is a veritable money-making machine.’

Wei’en performed a standard Wizard’s salute. ”Thank you for your understanding, Department Chief. I have a lot on my plate right now and don’t want to get too distracted.”

He was quite satisfied with this arrangement. With no specific missions, he wouldn’t have to deliberately factor them into his plans.

And with permanent team members, he could delegate his own intelligence-gathering needs to them in the form of missions.

’Ahem, it seems I’m still going to end up playing the role of a Liaison Officer after all...’

”Mm, you just need to report anything involving the Ghost Soul School to the intelligence department. Oh, right. There’s one more thing I should warn you about.”

”Please, go on.”

Amiditch said meaningfully, ”The Soyel Clan’s relationship with our school is not a shallow one. You’d do well to get along with that heiress. Trust me, it will help you in the future.”

”The Soyel Clan?” Wei’en froze, his mind flashing to the kind girl he’d met before. ”You don’t mean Vian Imma Sayer, do you?”

”The very same. It seems you already know who she is.” Amiditch winked, a teasing glint in his eye. ”But I bet you don’t know about her family background.”

Wei’en shook his head. ”No, I really don’t. It was purely by chance that she ended up on my ship.”

’That kind girl’s family has a powerful background, and it’s connected to the Ghost Soul School?’

”Just remember what I said. It won’t hurt you.”

Amiditch didn’t want to say more. ’Although for a Wizard, things like family are inevitably cast aside, the one from the Soyel Clan is a different matter...’

”I understand.”

Wei’en nodded. ’I can’t believe the girl Clelia casually saved has ties to the Ghost Soul School. I’ll have to remind her about this later.’

”Finally, we got word from the Dawn Church this morning. The Holy Sanctuary already knows you killed Huberto. Saint Jobin XV has personally ordered the Judgement Saintess, Celestia Edas, to lead her Judgment Legion and hunt you down.”

At this, Amiditch’s expression grew much more solemn. ”Celestia isn’t like Huberto, who was constrained by the Power of Faith. Having fully mastered the ’Judgment Authority,’ her power is comparable to a Legendary-level Extraordinary. In some respects, she even far surpasses it.”

’The Judgement Saintess... at a Legendary level of power?’

’The Dawn Church really has it in for me, huh! They just won’t let go!’

Wei’en’s eyes narrowed. ”Thank you for the warning. I’ll be careful.”

”If you can, I hope you’ll study some divination. Even if you can’t reach the level of a seer, you should at least gain the ability to deflect the guidance of fate. It will be a great help on your journey ahead.”

”Divination...”

Wei’en recalled his suspicions from when that Judgment Knight found him. ’Can the results of divination be deflected?’

’But where would I even find something like that?’

’I don’t remember seeing any knowledge related to divination on the exchange list...’

”I don’t suppose the school offers that kind of knowledge for direct exchange?”

”It doesn’t.”

Amiditch shook his head. ”That’s knowledge from the Spiritual Mystery School’s most deeply hidden core system—the Destiny Divination system. You’ll have to find a way to get it on your own. While we in the Ghost Soul School possess some knowledge of divination, it isn’t a complete system. It would be of limited help to you and not enough to achieve the effect of deflecting fate’s guidance.”

”Of course, you do have other options...”

”What options?” Wei’en asked.

”One is to convince a Legendary Wizard from the Spiritual Mystery School’s Destiny Divination system to set up a Destiny Barrier for you. The other is for you to become a Legendary Wizard yourself.”

Wei’en was speechless.

’Legendary-level...’

’Fuck, if I had that kind of power, would I still be afraid of being hunted by the Dawn Church?’

’I’d kill them as they come! They’d just be fertilizer for my survival points and attributes!’

Amiditch seemed to realize neither option was particularly feasible. He cleared his throat. ”Alright, that’s all I have to say. Do you have any questions?”

”No, nothing...”

”Then, until we meet again, Team Leader Wei’en.”

Before his voice had even faded, the werewolf department chief’s image vanished from the illusory screen, and the black communicator went still.

Wei’en stood staring at the now-dark communicator for a long time before finally letting out a long breath. ”The Dawn Church’s Judgement Saintess, Celestia Edas...”

’The Dawn Church really thinks highly of me, sending a Legendary-level Holy Professional after me.’

Wei’en thought back to Yuan’s display last night: the summoned Deep Sea Giant Beasts, each comparable to a third-rank calamity, and that Legendary-level Fire Element Spell...

’Against that kind of terrifying power... even with backup from Joker and Tina, I probably couldn’t win, could I?’
