Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

”If they find out that I not only joined your Research Center but also became your first assistant, they’ll be so jealous of me!”

”Is that so?”

Wei’en still found it a little hard to believe. ’Could a group like the Ghost Soul School, full of Wizards who loved playing with corpses and the undead, really act so irrationally?’

”It’s all true, Director!” Teresa’s eyes were filled with adoration. ”The Magic you used in the battle at Caster City State has become the main research topic for all the Research Centers in the school. Even my mentor praised your mastery of runes as being far beyond imagination.”

”Your... mentor?”

”My mentor is Boras G. McClure. He’s a Legendary Undead Mage and a very formidable researcher within the school...”

Teresa paused, then asked nervously, ”You don’t need to worry. My mentor agreed to let me come because he hopes I can learn some knowledge about runes from you. There’s no other motive.”

’The student of a Legendary Undead Mage... with no other motive?’

A strange glint flashed in Wei’en’s eyes. It sounded a bit like protesting one’s innocence too much.

”I believe you. By the way, besides you, where are the other people for the Research Center?”

”Others... yes, yes, there are! Dean Josue sent me the list yesterday, along with a list of equipment you might need. Wait, I’ll find it, find it.”

Teresa leaned over the desk in front of her and frantically rummaged through her things. ”Found it! This is it.”

She held up the paper in her hand. ”Director, Dean Josue said that your first research project is on undead and mechanical modification. However, there aren’t many Wizards in the school who are involved in mechanical modification, so this time they could only find some Wizards who have done research on undead modification for you.”

”Mm, that’s fine. Being proficient in undead modification is also acceptable.”

Wei’en had noticed this before when he was exchanging for the school’s knowledge.

Although the Ghost Soul School had a Secret Technique system, Wizards with multiple origin sub-bodies were a minority, and even fewer of them chose to specialize in mechanical modification.

”In total, there are five first-level researchers and one Second-level Researcher. Their Wizard ranks are all intermediate. While it’s not a lot of people, they are all outstanding Wizards who have risen up in recent years.”

To demonstrate the importance the Feng Enliso Research Center placed on this, Teresa pointed to a name on the list and said, ”For example, this Wizard, Oshana McCarthy. She just submitted a research report on undead modification and received a first-level contribution award from the school.”

”Escobar Osman, he’s also a very outstanding researcher. He was previously Dean Josue’s assistant.”

”And...”

Wei’en listened calmly to Teresa’s introductions, getting a general understanding of these researchers’ abilities.

Although their Wizard ranks weren’t high, they had each spent three to five years on research, so it must have been quite some time since they were promoted to Wizard.

”Send me their basic information later, along with the list of equipment.”

”Yes, Director!”

Teresa took out a notebook, dipped a quill in some ink, and began to write. As she wrote, she asked expectantly, ”Director, when are you planning to start the research for the project?”

”There’s no rush,” Wei’en said after a moment of thought. ”I’ll decide after the equipment arrives and I’ve had a chance to inspect it. We might need some other instruments as well.”

”Mhm, if you need anything at all, you can contact me or Dean Josue at any time. I’ll be in charge of following up to make sure your research progress isn’t affected.”

Wei’en gave a noncommittal nod. ”Then I’ll thank you for your trouble.”

”Thank me?” Teresa froze for a moment, then lowered her head, a little embarrassed. ”As long as you’re not upset with my impolite behavior from before.”

Wei’en smiled and gave her a mischievous wink. ”I’ll just consider it a special welcome gift.”

”Director~” A faint blush crept onto Teresa’s face.

Seeing her reaction, Wei’en didn’t continue teasing her about the sheer garment, but leaned back in his chair and asked, ”Tell me about the situation with the Research Centers, and how the researcher levels are classified.”

”I almost forgot to tell you,”

Teresa quietly let out a sigh of relief, silently cursing herself for being so stupid. She’d almost left a bad impression on Wei ’en Mage.

”The Ghost Soul School currently has six locations that can be called Research Centers, but only four are publicly known: Feng Enliso, the Ice Castle Research Center, the Tino Bayen Research Center in the Andes Highlands, and the Dalko Research Center in the Nomite City State.”

”As for the other two Research Centers, all we know is that they’re run by a few of the school’s Legendary Mages. We don’t know their specific locations or their research topics.”

Seeing Wei’en listening intently, Teresa’s spirits rose and she continued, ”As for the researcher levels, they’re universal across all Wizard Schools: level one is the lowest, and level five is the highest. But it’s rumored that Special-level Researchers also exist. I’ve been in the school for so long, but I’ve never seen one.”

’Special-level?’

Wei’en nodded in understanding. ”So each Research Center has different research projects?”

”There are some differences. For example, the main focus of the Feng Enliso Research Center, where you are, is projects related to the undead, including the modification of Undead Creatures, corpse stitching and modification, and runic research for Undead Magic.”

”Over at Ice Castle, because they have two Legendary Mages stationed there, their research projects are a bit more profound. They conduct research on topics including Red Moon contamination, origin mutations, and the like.”

”As for the Tino Bayen Research Center in the highlands, it’s said they mainly research things related to Magic Potions to assist with corpse modification. The variety of Magic Potions there is immense, making it very suitable for that kind of research.”
