Chapter 1037: Chapter 451: After the Battle

Kemler’s head fell to the ground, and the Undead Grand Mage who ravaged the Gray Mountain Range for decades had a gradually dazed look. His slowly dilating pupils reflected the La-Mesnil Abbey within the distant mountain gorge.

There, lies the Staff of Nagash he pursued all his life.

But it’s all over now.

He and his Ancient Tomb Legion’s long history has come to an end.

At the moment of Kemler’s death, the entire Undead Army began to collapse completely. Those powerful Desolate Tomb Guards and Skeleton Warriors, those Undying Creatures, those Undead Chaos Chosen Warriors, all collapsed in place, turning into piles of bone scraps.

Without the supply of energy from the Mortal World, Guer’s body gradually disintegrated, and it continued to speak: ”My master is...”

”Na...” The Champion of the Undead Chaos Four Gods didn’t finish his words before he dissipated in place, losing the sustaining Undead Magic of Kemler, Guer’s body turned into a wisp of gray smoke, dissolving into the air.

This was quite strange because apart from Guer, other undead creatures just disintegrated when losing the supply of magic power, but Guer’s disappearance left nothing behind.

It seemed some force forcibly transferred Guer away.

Outside the monastery, the field was left with vast amounts of corpses and pools of blood.

”Victory!”

”Victory!”

”Victory!”

It seemed only five minutes later did the human army realize their victory. Francois was the first to stand before Kemler’s corpse. The Duke himself first looked at Kemler’s head, Francois had a ferocious expression, he grabbed the Undead Grand Mage’s head and violently smashed it onto the ground: ”Splat!”

Kemler’s head, unclosed in death, fell into the blood puddle, soaked with stains.

Immediately, Francois stomped hard on Kemler’s head with his iron boot.

Stomping hard, violently stomping, over and over, until the head was a bloody pulp.

”Kemler! The grudge of many years! The vengeance for my father! Today, I’ve finally avenged it!”

”Father! I have avenged you at last!”

Laine had never seen Francois so out of control. The Duke of Winford exposed his piercing hatred in front of everyone, then wept openly, using a handkerchief to wipe his tears that he couldn’t hold back.

Francois’ father, Tankred I, was slain by Kemler in the Battle of Montfort Bridge, and became resurrected as an undead. To flaunt his victory, Kemler had Tankred I’s face taken from the former Duke’s corpse and sewn onto his robe.

This was a great humiliation for Francois and the Duke of Winford’s Clan. Since inheriting the Dukedom, Francois swore to take revenge. The first Battle of La-Mesnil Abbey decades ago was his masterpiece of vengeance.

But it wasn’t enough.

It wasn’t over!

Only today, Francois truly accomplished his revenge. The Duke of Winford breathed a sigh of relief, with delight on his face, he drew the Unicorn Sword, shouting loudly: ”Victory! Gentlemen, let us revel in this grand triumph, indulge in the glory! Today’s victory will go down in history, our honor will be proclaimed for eternity, even unto the end of the world! The enemy will never forget!”

”Victory!!”

The Battle to Guard La-Mesnil Abbey concluded with the defeat and death of the Undead Grand Mage Heinrich Kemler. Kemler, who once rampaged the Old World and inflicted numerous wounds upon the Empire and Brittania, was utterly defeated in this battle, representing the disintegration and destruction of the Ancient Tomb Legion. The forces of order in the Old World lost a formidable foe, and humans, dwarves, and wood elves in the Gray Mountain Range ensured the peace of the mountains through joint combat. As a result, Brittania’s South was free from the shadow cast by Kemler, finally achieving a stable and peaceful development environment.

The defending troops cheered for long life, everyone tightly united together, many soldiers wept with joy, feeling the supreme glory, the scene of victory celebrations spread across the mountains and valleys.

Amid the mountains calling and sea roaring, Francois laughed heartily, first nodding toward Laine. Between in-laws, they were on the same side, no need for many words. Then, Francois actively reached his hand towards Duke Theodoric of Borelion: ”Your Grace Theodoric, your arrival to support us was truly unexpected and delightful, thank you very much for your support!”

The rough-looking Theodoric shrugged, indicating his arm injury, making handshaking impossible, he seemed very pleased with his role: ”From the moment I learned of this news, I knew this place needed me, the Kingdom needed me, so I came, and by now, the outcome doesn’t seem bad.”

”Indeed, the outcome isn’t bad.” Francois withdrew his hand, his great vendetta avenged, making the old in-law’s mood wonderful.

The relationship between him and Theodoric was actually quite poor, but ultimately they were fellow humans and Knights of the Lake Fairy, they shared consensus on working together externally.

”Hehehe~ Your Grace Theodoric’s timing for arrival was extremely precise.” Laine, injured all over, appeared with a smiling tone teasingly.

”I had no choice, Laine kid.” Theodoric caught the underlying meaning in Laine’s words, relying on his age, he showed some elder pride: ”I had only over two hundred men... now just over eighty left, I had to choose the timing wisely, otherwise my men would only serve as new troops for the undead.”
