Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 497: Chapter 213, Returning to Tranquility

When Laine’s body was found on the battlefield, almost everyone thought he was already dead.

The Divine Chosen Champion of the Lady was covered in dozens of wounds, many of which were enough to kill the mightiest Holy Grail Knights on the spot. More terrifyingly, his entire body was filled with filthy Chaos Energy, and all the knights dared not approach.

A brutal victory, with Chaos Demons and the corpses of Chaos Warriors and Brittania Knights scattered across the battlefield.

”Laine!” The female knight leapt off her Pegasus, seeing Laine lying on the ground from afar.

The female knight didn’t think much; clad in full knight plate armor, she rushed directly towards where Laine lay.

”Oh! No, she’ll kill herself doing that!” some knights exclaimed.

The Duke’s daughter acted as if she didn’t hear them. Despite the Chaos Energy that might claim her life in the next second, she ran towards Laine without hesitation.

Someone was faster than her.

Mogiana appeared beside Laine in a flash of white light, chanting spells and purifying the filth on Laine. Seeing Surya rushing over, the Lake God Witch frowned, intending to reprimand the knight’s recklessness and rashness.

”No! Laine, you can’t do this! You promised me you would watch me win the championship at the knightly tournament!” Ignoring the intense Chaos Corruption, the female knight extended her arms, and the Chaos Energy immediately charred the bright arm armor.

She didn’t care.

The female knight gently embraced Laine’s body, her voice filled with panic and fear, ”I’m sorry! Really sorry, Laine, my father and I arrived late.”

Water droplets like pearls fell onto Laine’s face as the usually dignified and elegant Duke’s daughter cried, her voice usually never raised. Mogiana saw this and couldn’t utter her reprimand, softly saying, ”He still has a heartbeat.”

”Cough, cough, cough.” Lying on the ground, Laine suddenly coughed several times, the large hole in his chest revealing his beating heart. The Champion’s face was contorted with pain and weakness, ”Did we win?”

”Yes, we won.” Surya held Laine tightly, the female knight smiled through her tears, ”That’s great.”

”Unbelievable, you defeated the Chaos Great Demon!” Lorne, covered in blood, approached with his longsword, admiring and lamenting, ”You took the spoils of Francois and me, Laine, well done.”

The Duke of Winford, Francois, also appeared, his Unicorn Sword covered in the Nurgle Demon’s blood. The Duke, having led the Knight Army to depart, found that King Richard had opted to stay in the Royal Palace. By the time Francois arrived at the battlefield, the Great Army of Nurgle had already sent swarms of plague giant bees and Plague Messenger Demons, blocking the Knight Army’s advance.

”Good, finally, I can rest.” A weary grimace appeared on Laine’s haggard face, then his head drooped, falling into unconsciousness.

”Laine!!!” Surya shouted.

”Don’t worry, my daughter, Laine is the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lady; he’s not that easy to kill.” Francois checked Laine’s wounds, finding the signs of life strong, breathed a sigh of relief, and patted Surya’s shoulder. Before he could say more, at Mogiana’s command, several Lake God Prophets emerged from the crowd, their beautiful faces pale from magic power overload. These Lake God Prophets bandaged Laine’s wounds, then Mogiana’s cold voice followed, ”Immediately send Laine to the Holy Grail Cathedral for treatment!”

”Yes!” The Lake God Prophets responded instantly.

”I’m going too!” The female knight said to the Lake God Witch, her dazzling golden long curls swaying with her motions.

”...Follow.” Mogiana seemed to dislike excessive communication with the Duke’s daughter, the Lake God Witch looked at the gathered Knight Army on the plains, shouting, ”In the name of the Lady, another victory! Praise the Lady!”

”Victory! Victory! Victory!” Deafening cheers erupted as humanity once again triumphed over evil.

”We owe thanks to the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lady—Laine Macado! It was he who defeated the Chaos Great Demon; he decided the outcome of this war.” Mogiana continued to shout, ”Under the Lady’s glory, what should we do?”

”Laine! Laine! Laine!” Thousands of knights and Knight’s Squires shouted.

”Give him the glory!”

”For the Lady! For Brittania! Bestow glory upon him!”

”Laine! Laine! Laine!”

The name Laine was shouted across the hills by the knights, marking his supreme glory.

Meanwhile, in Kulona, at the Merciful Goddess Church.

The Archbishop, who fled back to the headquarters of the Merciful Goddess Church, locked herself in the secret room. Grasping her quill pen, she intended to transcribe the formula for a special anti-malaria medicine.

Having only written a few lines, the Archbishop immediately sensed the presence of another in the secret room. Instinctively gripping her magic staff, she angrily shouted, ”Who is it?!”

”Don’t~ stay right there.” A sphere of purplish-black energy struck directly onto the Archbishop’s back, knocking the Merciful Goddess Archbishop down with a purple light ball, crashing onto the smooth stone slab-floored secret room.

”Soul Absorption!” The black-robed figure appeared behind her, a magic staff burning with cyan flame launched another spell upon the Archbishop. Purple threads bound the middle-aged beauty, absorbing her magic power, her final resistance, all vanishing into nothingness.
