Warhammer Divine Throne

”Don’t rush, Laine, patience is a virtue! Let’s wait.” Francois gestured for Laine to sit with him at a small street stall, where the vendor was a peasant woman selling a stew made of frog meat, flour, onions, carrots, celery stalk, potatoes, wild leafy greens, garlic, salt, and other ingredients simmered together. It smelled quite fragrant. Seeing Francois and Laine, two Holy Grail Knights, sit down, the peasant woman let out a shriek and then tried her best to bend her round waist: ”Oh, my heavens! Oh, my Lady! My Lady Shalya, what is this, what does this mean? Two Holy Grail Masters visiting my little shop! Most esteemed Holy Grail Masters, what would you like?”

”Two bowls of the valley frog stew, Lady.” Francois took out two silver coins, and the peasant woman immediately served two nearly overflowing large bowls of stew to Laine and Francois, nodding and bowing, a smile plastered on her face: ”Yes, please! Holy Grail Masters, our frog stew is the most famous, the best stew in the whole town. Just one taste and you will surely fall in love...”

”Alright, alright, we know, go about your business.” Francois signaled for the peasant woman not to disturb him and Laine anymore. She hurriedly bowed and happily went elsewhere: ”Oh heavens! Praise the Lady! Two Holy Grail Masters are eating in my shop! Two Holy Grail Masters are eating in my shop!”

The presence of the Holy Grail Knights had an immediate effect, and the peasant woman’s large pot of stew was sold out in a little over ten minutes, even the newly cooked pot was half gone. She wasn’t unwilling to sell it all, but thought perhaps the Holy Grail Masters might want more later, and she couldn’t let it all be gone.

In the yellow stew broth mixed various red, green, and white vegetables and frog meat. Laine took a bite: ”Hmm~ Not bad!”

”Good, isn’t it? I came here last time and tried it once, indeed it was nice.” A wise smile flashed in Francois’ eyes: ”But don’t get too engrossed in the food, look, pay attention to that store.”

”Hmm.” The Duke and his Baron aide thus ate the stew while their gaze fixed upon the store named Cavendish and the large crowd at the store entrance.

”Cavendish? That name doesn’t really sound like someone from the Kingdom.” Laine used a wooden spoon to deliver frog meat into his mouth.

”Yes, he’s not Brittania; he’s from Estalia... Here it comes, Laine, watch.” A cargo wagon arrived at the Cavendish Store, loaded with many bags of bread: ”The goods are here.”

”Is it bread, the most ordinary black bread?” Laine asked puzzled: ”Are these people here to buy black bread? But I’ve seen many bakeries along the way, so why is everyone focusing on buying from this one store? Is the black bread cheaper here?”

”No, no, the black bread here is priced the same as the market rate.” Francois shook his head, the Duke’s eyes became cold and disdainful: ”The only difference is that a portion of this wagon of black bread is to aid those elderly, incapable of working peasants.”

”Cavendish perhaps never dreamed things would turn out this way.”
