Chapter 436: Chapter 186, Don’t be separated anymore_2

”Sir Bodric is over eighty years old. Even as a legendary powerhouse, he is already advanced in years, and time is indeed limited for him,” Surya acknowledged with a nod, understanding why Bodric would have such thoughts.

”But I think he’s being a bit too hasty. The problem with the dark elf pirates isn’t really the main issue. If he doesn’t care about the war between Estalia and Duke Borelon in the south, that’s one thing, but the Red Duke in the north...” Laine was somewhat troubled, seeing Bodric’s indifferent attitude towards the vampire threat.

Laine, however, believed that external threats must first be addressed internally. The existence of the Red Duke was ultimately a malignant tumor for the Knight Kingdom and must be eliminated; otherwise, the country’s power cannot be consolidated.

How can humans and the undead coexist peacefully? Only vampires completely destroyed are good vampires.

His own power as a baron was still too small; he needed to continue accumulating capital.

Talking about it, their destination arrived.

”Hmm?” At his doorstep, Laine encountered an unexpected woman.

Veronica, dressed in a fiery red trench coat and a white wolf fur cape with a charming smile on her face, stood at Laine’s door. Her eyes were sharp and dangerous, first glancing over Laine’s face, then discreetly sizing up Surya before speaking, ”Dear? Surprised?”

”Oh, this is really... quite surprising, Veronica, you...” Laine was visibly surprised, he patted the knight’s hand to let go of him and then opened his arms to greet her, ”I thought you wouldn’t arrive for many days yet!”

Veronica took a few quick steps and threw herself into Laine’s arms, and the two embraced right in front of Surya, ”But I missed you, so I came now.”

After saying this, Veronica gave Laine a kiss on the cheek and deliberately looked at Surya standing on the side.

The duke’s daughter raised her golden eyebrows; is this witch provoking me?

Is she one of the two Jialan witches Laine mentioned in his letters, the one named Veronica?

It seems their relationship is not like that of an ordinary lord and wizard consultant?

”Hello, you must be the Marchioness Surya Kumanie Antley de Winford that Laine wrote about in his letters, right? I’m Female Member of Parliament Veronica Bernadotte, Laine’s partner, and also his lover!” Veronica wrapped her black lace gloved arms around Laine’s neck and winked at Surya.

”...Ah!” Veronica was feeling triumphant when she felt Laine lightly pinch her somewhere. She instinctively looked at her man, who cast her a sidelong glance, indicating she should refrain from stirring up trouble.

”Nice to meet you, Miss Bernadotte.” The lady knight acted as if nothing happened, elegantly dressed as she offered her hand to Veronica with a radiant smile, ”It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

”I am also honored to meet you, Miss Antley.” Seeing the lady knight unfazed, Veronica had no choice but to step out of Laine’s embrace and extend her hand, ”Laine mentioned you in his letters to me; thank you very much for taking care of him.”

As the two women shook hands, they could both sense the pressure from the other’s grip.

Surya felt assured.

Clearly, this witch in front of him didn’t really have a romantic relationship with Laine, just exaggeratedly behaving. If they were truly a couple, they would not display their confidence and intimacy so deliberately.

At most, there was a certain kind of relationship between her and Laine.

The exaggerated embrace and kiss, her forcible declaration of identity; the Marchioness, raised in the court, would surely notice this.

And, which noble doesn’t have a few female courtiers and lovers? Even her father had relations with the two Lake God Prophets in the court, so it’s normal for Laine to have such a close witch around.

Thinking this way, the lady knight became calmer. She ignored Veronica’s aggressive gaze, peacefully extending her hand to Laine with a smile, ”Then I won’t disturb you tonight. Good night, Laine.”

”Good night, Surya.” Laine kissed the duke’s daughter’s hand, and the Holy Grail Knight and the duke’s daughter exchanged smiles.

Once the heavy wooden door closed, Veronica threw herself into Laine’s arms again, discontentedly saying, ”Dear? You’re impressive, immediately attracting a duke’s daughter for yourself... mm!”

Laine said nothing, he directly kissed the witch’s sweet lips, Veronica was evidently angry at her man’s lack of explanation, wanting to push Laine away, but her wrist was caught.

After just ten seconds, the witch’s arms lost their strength, hanging weakly.

Twenty seconds later, the witch’s body began to lose strength, only Laine’s embrace on her waist prevented her from collapsing.

Three minutes later, Laine finally released her. The witch felt herself lifted and involuntarily hugged Laine’s neck, resting her head on his chest, ”Laine~”

”Hmm?” Inside the room, the fireplace crackled, sparks flying, the wide screen and tapestry decorating the guest room luxuriously, the magic lamp emitting a soft yellow glow illuminating the witch’s sweet face. Laine gently embraced Veronica seated on the bed, removed her white wolf fur cloak, and helped her take off her over-the-knee boots.

”I missed you, my great knight, it’s been a year, how have you been?” Veronica leaned on Laine’s shoulder, murmuring softly.

”I missed you too, my great witch.” Laine wrapped the witch and her long black-nylon-covered legs in his arms, softly sighing, ”Seeing you in this state, you mustn’t have had a good year?”

”Hmm, Elder Aurora did a few things targeting me, and also your little Princess Jialan.” In Laine’s presence, Veronica shed her hard exterior, ”Speaker Margarita spent most of her time shut in the Central Tower doing research; outside, I was isolated and helpless, so the moment I received your letter, I hurried over.”

”Don’t you have any friends?” Laine asked, empathetically hugging her tighter, kissing her lips again.

”Witches aren’t as open-hearted with friends as you might think, my great knight. Mostly we have colleague relationships; occasional outings or meals together are already considered good relationships,” Veronica shook her head, leaning closer.

”Since you’re here, don’t leave again.” Laine’s fingers ran through her fragrant hair, ”Here, you have me.”

”Hah! My great knight, what do you imagine I am? A maid like Amelia who would cry without your protection?” Veronica laughed and poked Laine’s chest with her slender finger, ”I’m a witch, dear, a powerful legendary middle-tier fire and light element witch!”

”But there’s one thing I think we agree on.” The Jialan witch tightly hugged her man’s chest, ”And that’s not to be separated anymore.”

”Yes, we won’t be separated again.” Laine hugged her affectionately, ”Your Wizard Tower will be built here, and once the magic array is completed, you can come and go between Celestial Vault Castle and here at any time.”

The cozy atmosphere lingered for a long time, the two entwining their fingers, leaning against the headboard.

Until the witch squirmed uncomfortably, ”Laine?”

The silver imprint on her abdomen was faintly glowing, resonating with the spiritual energy on Laine.

”What’s up?” Someone feigned ignorance.

”Aren’t we going to... do that?” Veronica asked with some discomfort.

”Which ’that’ are you referring to?” The Divine Chosen Champion continued to play dumb.

”You bastard!” Then came a sound of stomping and a heavy object falling in the quiet guest room.

”Ouch, my great witch, this is the second time you’ve kicked me off, the last time was three years ago when we...” The man’s voice was pleading, ”Ah! Stop stepping, I surrender! I surrender!”

Gradually, the sound in the room grew quieter until it was completely inaudible...
