Warhammer Divine Throne

The situation is different now. To Laine, Veronica is no longer the Jialan Witch who needed mutual support along with the young Ranger Knight; she is no longer a necessity for him.

This is the reason for her anxiety over the past few months. The witch knows this is a gamble.

Clutching the parchment in her hand, Veronica found some solace. At least from the letter, Laine not only showed no intention of leaving her, but instead yearned to reunite with her.

That’s enough.

”It’s as if she’s indispensable to you, Trovik. I have no interest in arguing with you; I have important matters and need to see the Speaker,” Veronica said, unwilling to argue further with Teresa. Reaching Laine swiftly was the priority.

”Oh? Then I regret to inform you that Mother is discussing matters with the Speaker,” Teresa sneered. ”I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a while. Mother is negotiating my deployment with Speaker Margarita.”

”Deployment?! Ha! Trovik, hasn’t anyone taught you the basic principle of first come, first served?” Veronica now genuinely incensed, retorted, ”Let me ask you one last time, Trovik, do you really want to compete with me? Are you determined to take what’s mine?”

”Everyone desires good things; Laine isn’t just yours, not before, not now, not in the future,” Teresa declared, her silver eyes full of battle intent. ”I can be a hundred percent sure, he’s the one I want!”

”Alright then! Trovik, just you wait...” Veronica began to spew harsh words, when in the distance, the doors of the Wizard Tower opened. Draped in a white wolf fur coat, wearing a black high-necked, knit waist-tapered dress, Aurora stepped out from the Central Tower in high boots. This mature Holy Sanctuary Great Witch was dignified and extraordinary, looking very much like Teresa’s elder sister. Aurora walked up to her daughter: ”What happened, my daughter? Did you upset Miss Bernadotte again?”

”No, I just had a brief exchange with Veronica. Clearly, we cannot agree on certain issues,” Teresa suppressed her anger and shrugged towards her mother: ”Other than that, there’s nothing special.”

”I see. My daughter, regardless of anything, Miss Bernadotte is an excellent witch and a Female Member of Jialan. Basic etiquette should still be observed.” Though Aurora addressed her daughter, her gaze was fixed on Veronica.

This was a reminder to the witch: Where are your manners?

”Hello, Elder Aurora.” Respect was due. Even as a Member of Parliament, Veronica had to show deference to this Holy Sanctuary Great Witch, requiring her to lower her head to greet properly.

”Hello, Miss Bernadotte. Our Speaker is inside waiting for you. Go quickly and don’t keep her waiting,” Aurora spoke coldly. ”Let’s go, my daughter.”

”Yes, Mother,” Teresa said, following her mother away.

Veronica squinted her eyes watching the mother and daughter, pondering for a moment before shaking her head and walking towards the Central Tower.

Returning to their own Wizard Tower, entering the main bedroom on the fifth floor, Aurora and her daughter sat down in succession. Teresa, slightly anxious, asked, ”What did the Speaker say?”

Aurora sighed lightly, the Holy Sanctuary Great Witch grasped her daughter’s hand: ”My daughter, you might not be able to set off for a while. I discussed your deployment with Margarita, but the Speaker insists you complete the current tasks on hand before discussing any deployment permits. As for Bernadotte... Margarita has already signed the deployment order.”

”Ah, just as I anticipated,” Teresa resigned to the outcome. Indeed, she had some tasks that couldn’t be completed at the moment, so Margarita’s refusal was reasonable: ”Veronica must be packing, preparing to depart.”

The struggle between the Speaker and the Elder never ceased. Previously, Aurora managed to prevent Veronica from spending the Winter Festival with Laine, and now, Margarita could likewise hinder Teresa from immediately joining Laine.

”Don’t worry, my daughter. In our witch community, the rule of first come, first served doesn’t apply,” Aurora laughed, her mature and charming smile ever present. ”Why do you think Bernadotte is in such a hurry? Precisely because she has no confidence in herself.”

Teresa felt a lot better after hearing this, the female sorcerer calculated: ”It’ll take at least until next spring to wrap things up, after which I can apply for deployment!”

”Yes, I’ll think of a way to help you, my daughter; Mother will always be on your side,” Aurora tenderly brushed her daughter’s jet-black, gemstone-like hair, her face beaming with a smile: ”I really didn’t expect it. My daughter, solitary and proud since childhood, would develop feelings for a man someday... But Laine is indeed exceptional, so your fondness for him doesn’t surprise me.”

”Mother!” the female sorcerer blushed, pouting.

”But my daughter, some things surpass our expectations,” Aurora’s face turned serious again as she spoke. ”Laine’s advancement speed is astonishing; if at first your status was comparable, now there’s a significant gap. He’s now an officially enfeoffed baron, a respected Holy Grail Knight and Divine Chosen Champion. You know who holds power in Brittania, and what it means to be the Lady of the Lake’s Divine Chosen Champion.”

”Power, prestige, status; Laine lacks none of these,” Teresa also became serious, acknowledging the stark transformation in Laine compared to when he traveled with her: ”I understand, Mother.”

”Good that you understand, moreover, you must be aware of a fact.”

”The Lady of the Lake is a deity with a strong penchant for meddling in Prime Material Plane affairs. She possibly... I mean, very likely, won’t tolerate her Divine Chosen Champion’s wife being a Female Member of Jialan, not even as a lover.”

”Be mentally prepared, my daughter; your competitors may be many.”

”If necessary, Mother will step in to help you.”

......

While Aurora and her daughter were engaged in their life discussion, Veronica finally acquired the deployment order, satisfied. She immediately began packing, preparing to use the teleportation array to transit through Marinburg, heading towards Laine’s domain.

Margarita, while reminding her to engage more with her partners, also suggested that Veronica attempt to establish a teleportation array connecting Baron Gene’s Domain with the Celestial Vault Castle.

A large amount of clothing and various trinkets along with the alchemy workbench were collected by Veronica, for which she also specifically borrowed two storage rings from the Speaker.

Catherine came to help too: ”Member, I’ve packed all your clothes and shoes for you.”

”Thank you, Catherine. I didn’t expect you’d be willing to go with me to find Laine,” Veronica remarked, her once sharp gaze softening as she touched her young apprentice’s head: ”You’re sure you won’t regret?”

”My life was saved by you, Member; I won’t regret it,” Catherine shook her head gently. ”If not for you, I’d have already been sold to a lord’s house... Member, is there anything else to pack?”

”There’s also the bed in my bedroom, oh right, and the bow on the bedpost,” Veronica continued to pack with her young apprentice: ”That bed must be taken; besides being big and soft, it holds extraordinary significance for me.”

”Extraordinary significance?” Catherine asked curiously, ”What significance?”

”The greatest significance is... your mentor, Miss Veronica Bernadotte’s first time occurred on this comfortable four-poster bed, indeed, my and Laine’s first time together,” the Female Member fondly tousled her apprentice’s golden hair, a smile on her face: ”It’s my treasured possession.”

”Once everything is packed, we’re ready to go.”

”Yes, Member!”
